And took a bite and immediately recoiled! Have they recently changed their recipe?? Or have I got a dud bar?? It is HORRID Envy (not envy).

I had a dairy milk Easter egg the other day and thought how lovely it was, after being a bit dodgy for a few years.

Keepthechangeyafilthyanimal1 · 28/03/2021 08:17

@Pinkywoo

The best milk chocolate I've had recently is Ritter sport, it's like dairy milk was years ago.
I am with you here! Ritter Sport is delicious
Jammydodger1981 · 28/03/2021 09:13

Yes Ritter Sport is definitely the best, their white chocolate and hazelnut bar is dangerous!

Sansaplans · 28/03/2021 09:15

I find it depends what bar you buy. Most are rank now, but the odd dairy milk bar or item with it in is really nice. I bought DS some freddos and they were disgusting, but the mini bag of buttons was nice- weird. On the whole though I think it's such a shame they changed it when they got taken over, much nicer brands now.

Whatwouldnanado · 28/03/2021 09:17

Ritter Sport rum and raisin is amazing but impossible to find now. I agree that the shape of DM matters. Chunks are best.

Theelderscrolls · 28/03/2021 09:18

Did you accidentally buy the reduced sugar one? It's vile.

user1494055864 · 28/03/2021 10:31

I had a dairy milk bar last week, and it tasted rank.

You can buy it on their newly launched website, hope this link works:

shop.ritter-sport.co.uk/

Not sure of P&P costs though..
I love the cocoa mousse one it takes like a chocolate brownie

Cherrysoup · 28/03/2021 10:34

@Whatwouldnanado our local open all hours shop does Ritter Sport, as does Lidl, including the rum/raisin one, my DH bought some this week.

I agree re dairy milk, over sweet, greasy, weird taste. The dark milk is acceptable!

TheNationsFavourite · 28/03/2021 10:41

But then, toffee mallow were still the greatest ever

Highlight of my Easter, they were.

SellFridges · 28/03/2021 10:45

It hasn’t changed.

The thinner chocolate you get in Easter Eggs, or Buttons is always better - it’s to do with how thin it is.

Cadbury hasn’t been owned by Kraft for about 9 years. And even at the point of takeover the “Americans” didn’t just wander in and change the recipe.

It is owned by Kraft.

Kraft just changed their name to Mondelez.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadbury

"Cadbury, formerly Cadbury's and Cadbury Schweppes, is a British multinational confectionery company fully owned by Mondelez International (originally Kraft Foods) since 2010."

SellFridges · 28/03/2021 10:58

😂😂😂 I work for Mondelez.

Kraft Foods is an entirely separate company (that yes, still exists) comprising of mostly US brands. The two companies separated in 2012.

Mondelez took on the mostly Global brands, including Oreo, Milka, and Cadbury.

Fair enough, I was mistaken. Wikipedia/google wasn't exactly clear on that point.

But the recipe has definitely changed over the years.

Either way it tastes a lot worse than it used to!
WATSFORTEA · 28/03/2021 11:12

Cadburys have changed their recipe and use palm oil so I don't buy it now. I threw away a whole box of Dairy milk as it was vile and so looked them up online.

JustSleepAlready · 28/03/2021 11:15

I defo agree that a lot of food now tastes yuck. ‘New and improved’ always always tastes worse. It also matters where you bought it. Places like b and m get products meant for a different geographical location. Products meant for further afield aren’t always produced for western tastes. Tetley t bags taste completely different if bought there ..... 🤔

hellcatspangle · 28/03/2021 11:47

I assume they are doing something with the recipe at the moment anyway...my DSis did a market research test the other week and had to compare two dairy milks (she said one was far better than the other but not sure which is the new one!)

CakeWarrior · 28/03/2021 11:51

I have a good friend who has worked at the factory for years. I call her Mrs Cadbury! Look at the back of the packet, if it is made in Dublin its the original recipe. If elsewhere its a different one and their local milk/ingredients not the original ones. Trust me and do a blind taste test with a bar from each. X

Whatwouldnanado · 28/03/2021 12:06

Keep the change thank you!!Easter treats sorted. (As you were).

playinthedarkness · 28/03/2021 12:08

I kinda agree but will still eat it anyway.. choc fiend... but was recommended to have a square of dairy milk and a square of galaxy together... ooh yesWink

LoveCauliflowerCheese · 28/03/2021 22:01

Dairy Milk is gross!

FruitLoopzz · 28/03/2021 22:05

Op - I had dairy milk today it was creamy and milky and so gooey and gorgeous. Sorry x

Mysa74 · 31/03/2021 08:30

Have you tried Lidl? Our branch had a while box of RS R&r last night, I only noticed because you'd mentioned it, lol

Deathraystare · 31/03/2021 08:53

It has been foul for years. The yanks got hold of it.
