List in this order: one thing that’s cute, one thing that’s annoying, and one thing that’s weird.
I’ll go first:

My boy kitty (3) is very vocal and likes to announce himself when he enters a room or comes in from outside. He meows as he’s walking through the house until he finds someone.

Annoying thing is he has the muddiest paws and can often sense when I’ve just changed the bed sheets and will walk all over the bed. The muddy paw prints he leaves are almost comical (almost).

Weird thing is even though he’s neutered he humps a specific type of blanket (super soft fleecy kind) and he also comes into the bathroom after I’ve showered and licks the water off my legs.

Your turn!

My two are Persians. Both rescues.

Cheddar is very loud. She is very talkative and we have conversations. She demands to be cuddled.

She drives me mad by making biscuits on my face at 3am. And puking on my clean sheets.

Magic is an absolute poppet. Slowly learning how to cat. After being dominated by her late sister. She's found her voice and has started being mischievous.

She looks me in the eye and scratches the sofa before jumping on it.

@TotallyKerplunked you have stolen my cat!!!!

HugoTheKitten · 26/03/2021 16:42

The cutest thing about Hugo is when he sees you in the morning he’s so affectionate, rubs on your face, legs, hands with a smile on his face and purring loudly.

Annoying (but cute) thing is when he’s so happy he drools....and rubs it on your face.

Weird thing is he’s obsessed with pens or pencils so if you try to write when he’s around....forget it.

I have an elderly Siamese.

Cute: She sleeps on top of my son's head while he's asleep, (he's an adult, so no suffocation worries or anything), she's like a beige and chocolate furry hat.

Annoying: She has spent 15 years sharpening her claws on the stair carpet. She's been given god knows how many sisal covered things that she disdains. So our stairs look like Ebenezer Scrooge should be coming down them with a candle.

Weird: The litter tray is near our loo. as soon as she hears you using the loo she runs down to use the litter tray. Apparently she likes company.

cricketmum84 · 27/03/2021 07:12

@Will0wtree the loo thing! My littlest does this too. She has two trays and one is in the downstairs loo. She runs in to wee as soon as I go in there and if she doesn't need to wee she does a pretend wee instead!

We have four.

Fennel (oldest at nearly 12). Cute - sleeps on her back. Annoying - she chews wires or picks at fabric when she’s hungry, to get our attention. Weird thing is that she looks angry when she purrs - ears back, tail swishing.

Cleo (10) - cute - will come and lie on my chest in the morning and snuggle her face into my neck. Annoying - Whiney meow. Weird - she will stretch out a paw super slowly like in slow motion, before slapping you across the face (when hungry).

Rory (9 months). Cute - bleps a lot. Annoying - ridiculously greedy and begs. Weird - will use the litter tray in the bathroom every time I’m on the loo, while maintaining eye contact.

Rosa (8 months). Cute - everything about her but mainly her squeaky meow. Annoying - she just isn’t. At all. Weird - she LOVES this hairy ball toy from pets at home and will carry it around the house squeaking loudly until we tell her how clever she is. (I suppose that can get annoying after a while 😂)

Boy cat, 14 yrs - twitches when he's dreaming, he has bad breath but will only come for fussing when I'm sat or laid down.
Girl, 4 yrs - adores ever fibre of me, will jump onto my lap at every opportunity and likes to sleep on the dining room table runner.
Girl 1 yr - wraps herself around my DD when she's asleep, is a great mouse catcher but hasn't worked out that she can eat them.
Stray boy - ?7/8 Has a face only a mother could love, sprays in my house and plonks himself on the settee when it's really cold outside.

Mummaofboys93 · 27/03/2021 17:25

Boy cat - Nearly 5 months old.

Cute thing - Absolutely loves a cuddle & likes to be cradled like a baby 😂 We also like to think we have taught him kisses as when he comes over to one of us for his many cuddles he comes right up to your mouth & gives you a good nuzzle.

Annoying thing - When you're sleeping & he decides he no longer wants you to be dreaming away he pounces on your face. Another Annoying thing is no washing on my airer is safe anymore 😂 Especially socks, they all get pulled down & scattered round the flat.

Weird thing - I have walked in on him laying in the bathroom sink many time, but he will only ever be laying in it of the tap is dropping or still slightly running if my youngest hasn't turned it off properly 🤔
A few times we haven't realised he is in the bedroom with us of an evening & have seen him staring at us from the shadows why we are dtd, something that makes us laugh & feel uncomfortable with at the same time 😂

DissABrie · 28/03/2021 16:29

We have 2 rescues, assumed to be brothers as they were found together.

Bcat
Cute - does a huge stretch on the floor in front of you for attention (also sleeps with paws over his eyes)
Annoying - anytime the front door opens, he tries to run out
Weird - not that weird, but seems compelled to be in high places. Meows as if to say "here goes, I can't help myself!" before launching himself to the top of a cabinet, or leaping onto some bags that are hanging up.

Fcat
Cute - sits on my lap and looks at me upside down
Annoying - bats at my mouth for attention when I'm asleep. Also likes to chew things like headphone wires
Weird - sits solemnly in the empty bath

MouseholeCat · 28/03/2021 16:43

Cat #1- black, very confident, vocal and chatty. Not really scared of anything and much too clever for his own good. Has feline IBS and is on a special diet- when he eats other things you know because it STINKS. He'll also eat anything and we have to be extra careful with hair ties, ribbons and laces.

Cat #2- light ginger. A total scardey cat who loves to cuddle and hides at the sight of any unfamiliar noises or people. My nephews refer to him as "the mean white kitty" because they corner him and he hisses. When we moved house he hid in the closet for a week and would only come out to sleep on our bed with us at night.

MintyCedric · 28/03/2021 17:14

Edie & Piper...3yo sisters

Edie...

  • comes running when called for cuddles, understands the words beef, treats and breakfast, and stands at the front window and waves me off in the morning.
  • Is very good at sneaking through doors at speed when you don't want her to, and as a kitten was an absolute fucker for jumping up and breaking crockery and glassware.
  • about once a week has a crazy meowing fit...really loud and plaintive for no apparent reason then purrs like a traction engine as soon as you pick her up. Gags at the use of nail files and sellotape.

Piper

  • monumentally floofy chonk, likes to be carried around like a baby, can hold a lengthy conversation in mmrrrps and does a cracking hi five.
  • is completely incapable of covering up her shit. She will stand in the tray for several minutes scraping everything in the vicinity except the litter
  • favourite hobbies include sitting in the tray liners that come with the Tesco delivery, licking the glass coffee table and pretending to be a turtle in their play tube.

Lizzie cat
Cute: loves to cuddle and sleep on me
Annoying but also cute: she snores like a man
Weird: sometimes sits in her litter tray

Polly99 · 28/03/2021 20:24

I have two cats, around 9 years old. They are allegedly siblings. One is an arsehole, the other nice.

The nice one visited our elderly neighbour every day when he was unwell and depressed. She'll take your eye out if you try to pick her up, and will not let you touch her paws but has recently started sitting in my lap while I work and I am pretty sure she understands what I am saying. She sleeps on the floor, on her back, with her paws in the air. She hates water in the house but runs outside whenever it rains and comes in soaking. She has tufted ears and feet like a Maine coon and is mostly silent but very occasionally miaows and it sounds like a scream and gives me a shock.

The arsehole objects strongly to all closed doors by scratching and biting chunks out of them. He once disappeared for 8 whole weeks and was nearly adopted by a cat thief (who had seen my posters but wanted a cat) until she realised he would destroy her house. He can be very needy, adores one of my daughters, and drools on her when he is happy. He loves having his feet rubbed. He gets so excited at mealtimes that he eats too fast and then is sick. He chirrups at me at the time.

VictoriaBun · 28/03/2021 22:51

Our cat usually spends the evening on our bed, only coming to see us just before we go off to bed ourselves.
She then sleeps overnight in her own bed which is set next to ours and gets the heat of the radiator / radiator pipes.
Anyways , I go into our bedroom to draw the curtains and said cat is not on the bed. Strange I think, turn around and she's already on her own bed. That's a first I think.
Just got ready for bed myself, went around the bed to my side , and yes thank you very much cat , a load of vom and a hairball sitting on the bed. Now I know why you chose not to be on it .🙀🙀

mamaatthegym · 29/03/2021 10:53

@VictoriaBun oh my god no Shock why are they like this! I love how she just decimated the area with vomit then sulked off to her own bed because yours was ruined Grin

@MintyCedric is Piper your floofy one at the back? I had a cat who we got given by someone else many years ago and never knew his breed but he looked like that!

My current kitty used to have a litter tray when we lived in a flat and would flick the litter so hard it would go straight over the poo and outside the tray Angry gotta love them

OP posts:
MintyCedric · 29/03/2021 11:02

@mamaatthegym

Yes that's her...I'm sure there's some Maine Coon in there as she weighs about 9lb and her fur is ridiculous.

Her sister has some Bengal so who knows? I discovered after the event that the breeder I got them from was a bit shonky so their parentage is something of a mystery 😳.

Trevor is about 8 years old. He is a rescue, we have had him around 7 years. He loves the kids, will sit with them all day. Loves a fluffy blanket and will steal it from you! Trevor doesn't purr but you know when he's happy.
He is very picky with food and brands have to be changed regularly! He would just go without rather than eat the same brand for more than 2 weeks!
He annoyed a local magpie last year who now picks on him! Said magpie now has a mate, they now double team him! Last summer was entertaining!

37TTCLeeds · 29/03/2021 11:10

Jester - 7 months.

Cute - cuddles into me like I'm his cat mama every day! Loves a head bump, sleeps on my shoulder with his belly on show.

Annoying - bites me feet every morning!!

Weird - sleeps upside down with his head hanging out of his house like a bat!! As shown!

Frenchlady14 · 29/03/2021 12:44

Girlcat - 3yrs tabby (called 'tigre' here in France)

Cute - LOVES finding my hair bands that I use for ponytails - if she finds one she makes happy snickering noises and brings them for me to throw and retrieve - this can go on for hours
Annoying -same subject and also I kept running out of them until I found all of them under her cushion in the laundry room. Such a non-cat thing to do, I was amazed. She especially likes the thick black ones and goes into unbelievable ecstasy if she finds a new one. Rolling on it and flinging it in the air
Weird - will only drink from a running tap and licks water off my shoulder if she sits on the side of the bath. Not that nice after fish whiskas ...

SprungisSpringYaY · 29/03/2021 12:56

...
Makes biscuit on my face?

What the hell is that??

mamaatthegym · 31/03/2021 16:38

@Frenchlady14 fish whiskas are the absolute worst 🤢🤢🤢

@MintyCedric she is beautiful!! The vet used to guess that ours was Maine Coon/Norwegian Forest Cat mix so definitely similar! He was so big that visitors who weren’t used to him were shocked and a bit scared when he walked in the room! x

ProcrastinationIsMySuperPower · 31/03/2021 16:47

I have a 4yo all black girl cat.
Cute: literally adores me like I am her mama. Follows me, cuddles on my lap, purrs the moment I enter the room.
Annoying: climbs up me like I'm a tree so that she can hang out around my neck like a scarf.
Weird: doesn't like catnip - it has no effect on her whatsoever, I've never known this of any other cat.

Sideorderofchips · 31/03/2021 17:26

Fat boy

Cute thing is that he likes to be cuddled to sleep. Like a human child. And wrap his paws around your arm to cuddle you back

Annoying is that he likes to shit in the bath tub

Weird is that he likes to try and sleep in the cupboards.

Tiny cat

Cute is that she waits for my middle child to get back from her dad's (not the other two kids) and sits at the window calling

Annoying is that she bullies fat boy

Weird is that she likes to walk up and down the side of the bath when you are in it
