I agree Honeyroar it is horrible. It's so hard watching your parents get older 😔

You lot are so nice, it's good to rant sometimes ! It's just sometimes everything seems too much . Actually yesterday I was in tears with work as well , just stuck on a hard problem that I thought I had cracked .

at least we will be loads closer to mam. When my dad was dying being 300 miles away was pretty crap . However I do hope I never have to move ever ever again,. It's the months of nothing, an occasional week of panic and then the utter madness when it finally happens all at once! There's a reassuring long running thread in property that I found helpful, just seeing others going through the wringer and getting to the other end!

And I knew one of them lyrics and now it's gone

We have been trying to sell my parents house for last couple of years after they moved in to care home ; but we then had to put on hold with probate as my dad passed , then with lockdown and two buyers pulling out it's been a bit of a slog , and that's not counting decluttering of what seemed to be everything they had ever bought in 60 years of marriage . We now have an agreed completion date and I'm keeping everything crossed it goes through this time .

It is a difficult time of life when you find yourself caring for your parents but you also have your own family .

I think for me it was hardest about 4 years ago when my parents both had early stages of dementia, but were refusing any external support , and DS was in GCSE year. I'm just thankful that all this stuff with Covid didn't happen at that time .

Dad had vascular dementia which was horrible, really sad. Mum has Alzeimers which has been quite gradual for the last 8 years. She's in a lovely home and I'm so grateful she is happy and settled there .

Moving sounds very stressful Midge, I think I would hate it . But it will be easier for you being closer to your mum. It's been particularly difficult for anyone with family who are elderly or unwell and they haven't been able to get to see them easily over the last year .
