My 22yr old dd has challenged me to recall a snack she used to enjoy as a child. She claims it was called 'Scooby Snack' it may well have been a dog treat
She says it was a small, crunchy breadstick like snack, possibly with a dry tomato/herb flavour baked into it. It came in small bags like a packed lunch biscuit multipack. She has sent me an illustration which I have hopefully added.

Can any of you helpful lot solve this mystery?

Tesco do mini bags of tomato and herb breadsticks. Isn't a scooby snack just whatever stoners eat when high and have the munchies?

These

She says no not them, they’re quite a bit thinner than actual breadsticks and only about 3/4 inch long

I think my kids used to have scooby snacks - pretty sure they were those type you get in 6 mini bags in one big bag, almost certainly from B&M or Home bargains. I definitely remember some sort of scooby doo themed snack bags!

hatedbytheDailyMail · 25/02/2021 13:59

your 22 yr old measures in inches? That's weird.

Anyway, scooby snacks are (or were?) small crackers shaped like dog biscuits in various flavours like cheese or cinnamon or pizza. But they were American, I have never seen them in the UK. And google suggests that scooby snacks in the UK are actual dog treats.

AuntieEmm · 25/02/2021 14:02

Obviously we are thinking back to approx year 2000, probably available from Sainsburys, I don't think B&M had been invented then 😀

These?

AuntieEmm · 25/02/2021 15:26

No, not those either. They were like tiny little flattened breadsticks with a dried tomato herb flavour on the top.

These are what we used to get I think. Would be around 5 years ago or so.

I remember something like this, they were like mini breadsticks that had been flattened in a panini machine thing, with a really strong herby topping. I'll have a Google. I'm thinking Sainsburys too as that's where my mum shopped. Scooby snacks aren't ringing a bell for me though..

@Floofsquidge

Like these?
Not as posh as those, but a similar shape, but smaller and smoother.

Thanks everyone so much - I'm not convinced on the 'Scooby Snack' name, I think she's misremembered, but I do recall the snack she's talking about.

I remember these too. This is going to annoy me now I hope someone has the answer Grin

PivotPivotPivottt · 25/02/2021 16:26

The thing I'm thinking of is flat though rather than round like a breadstick.

PattyPan · 25/02/2021 16:31

I remember having Scooby snacks but they were more like crisps than breadsticks!

BearSoFair · 25/02/2021 16:31

Were they definitely on their own and not park of a Lunchables kit or something? I'm convinced I can remember the type of base you mean but as part of a bigger snack/kit, maybe a Dairylea dippers type thing?

EezyOozy · 25/02/2021 16:34

Pringles stix.... but probably far too long

This is exactly what I thought lunchables but looked on Google and couldn't see any
PivotPivotPivottt · 25/02/2021 16:40

Although I do remember dairylea dunkers that were tomato flavour I'm sure. I think they had a sort of seeded coating on them

EezyOozy · 25/02/2021 16:40

There seem to be a few Asian biscuit stick type snacks…

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 25/02/2021 16:45

Possibly a Phileas Fogg snack? There were a few of those around for a good number of years.

PatriciaHolm · 25/02/2021 16:45

I know exactly what she's referring to, I'm sure we used to get them in little packs on flights. I'll see what I can dig out....!

muffb · 25/02/2021 16:51

Can't find a pic of the actual breadsticks but might she recognise a bag like this? They do a sundried tomato flavour too
