Because I think it is.

I've never had a problem and been using them a fair few years now. I did have a 'debate' with one call handler but I was successful Grin.

Talk talk and Virgin media on the other hand Angry

TheyWalkAroundInWellies · 25/02/2021 10:08

It was ok until I "upgraded" to fibre and since then it's all gone to cock. Never ever "upgrade".

Had it for years, excellent service, no issues.

Sorry you are having issues though.

murbblurb · 25/02/2021 10:16

Fine here. It does depend on the state of your exchange. Sky was a nightmare for us, faulty card in the exchange which they refused to accept.

Guidebutton · 25/02/2021 10:18

I've had it for years and never had much trouble. It's not really up to the job now we have three gamers in the house, but then it doesn't claim to be.

In the odd occasion I've had to call them, customer support has been superb.

Mamamamasaurus · 25/02/2021 10:48

Hit and miss since they got bigger, their customer service has gone down the toilet. They're probably better than some providers but that's not saying much

InsaneLockdowner · 25/02/2021 10:51

No Talk Talk are the worst.
However, I've been with plusnet many years and have noticed a decline in both service and connection.

But Talk Talk gave me the worst customer service experience of my life.

DragonPoop · 25/02/2021 10:58

Yes
Reported them to the ombudsman about 2 years ago. They essentially agreed that they are shit!

ShrikeAttack · 25/02/2021 11:00

They used to be excellent until BT bought them. It all went downhill from then on!

Nutrigrainygoodness · 25/02/2021 11:02

Plusnet are great here. We've been with them 10 years and upgraded to fibre the first day possible years ago.
Dw can be gaming online, watching Netflix.
Dd playing roblox and streaming YouTube
I can be watching Netflix and tiktok and on here with no problems.

Stoppissingonmyheather · 25/02/2021 17:59

@ShrikeAttack yes they used to be brilliant then as soon as bt got involved effin useless can't even begin to tell you how useless I changed companies because I Could not cope with their utterly terrible regime

askmeagainin5 · 25/02/2021 18:01

We’ve had the exact same re issues since upgrading to fibre! When did you upgrade? We upgraded when there was a Black Friday deal on last year. It’s been crap ever since.

TheyWalkAroundInWellies · 25/02/2021 18:37

I switched to fibre a year ago. 😥 It's been dogshit since. For the first week after the "upgrade" I didn't have any internet at all. 😥😥 and very unreliable since. Today I've done so little work I've asked for it to be counted as annual leave and this is not the first time. Forty minutes to answer the phone, then when they do they first ask you a bunch of questions to try to make out it's your fault then they finally say oh yeah there's work going on in the exchange near you.

I can't go elsewhere until fucking June. 😥😥😥 It's complete shit. Just unbelievable that they're charging me for this pile of crap and I can't get out of the contract. Robbing tight Yorkshire bastards.

I finally gave up around 3pm and started watching daytime telly and the first thing that comes on is a bloody Plusnet advert. Yes, I watched that check shirted wazzock going on about award winning broadband while my useless fucking router winked orange at me, like a cunt. I very nearly put the bastard thing through the screen.

Their website still shows "no reported outages".

OP posts:
Love2cycle · 25/02/2021 18:57

Do you have extensions OP? Superfast BB does not work well with extensions, so if you have any it is worth disconnecting them.

TheyWalkAroundInWellies · 25/02/2021 19:05

Do you mean extension ethernet leads? I don't have any. It just plugs into the wall. It's not super fast, just fibre.

They do have excellent customer service. My internet has been a bit blippy last few weeks tho but then so is lots of people's I notice at work!

I was going to change last autumn but then read other companies reviews and concluded they're all shit

It took me months to leave virgin about 20 years ago. They're blacklisted !

GooodMythicalMorning · 25/02/2021 20:40

We changed our router and now Plusnet works perfectly instead of constant connection drops. None at all now!! The customer service is rubbish though.

78percentLindt · 25/02/2021 20:48

Nope. Talk Talk win that award hands down. And they still had my data a few years after I left them so was involved with the data breach.
Virgin were pretty poor at my dad's house- but that was a few years ago.
We have had a few blips with Plusnet recently- in the evenngs though not while people are working during the day.
We had a 4 day outage due to Open Reach issues recently, but they kept us in touch with progress. I'm happy with them.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 25/02/2021 21:25

Me too

Was your new router provided by Plusnet or could you recommend what you bought please?

We too have had problems with Plusnet since last March when we upgraded from Fibre Extra. Connection drops all the time. We've had four openreach engineers out and apparently they can't find a problem. We've had two new routers (provided by Plusnet) and still the connection drops. I'm at a loss as to what to do next. We've recently had virgin installed in the area but the reviews are dreadful from those who have signed up.

thenightsky · 25/02/2021 21:34

We moved to Plusnet about 3 years ago and never had any issues. DH actually works for an internet provider and Plusnet are better!

Love2cycle · 26/02/2021 08:13

@TheyWalkAroundInWellies

Hi, yes sorry the superfast is the fibre. Even if it's not superfast for you. I meant extensions that are connected to the inside of the socket. Usually they go to another phone point somewhere in the house.
poppycat10 · 26/02/2021 08:28

Not by a long way, I find their customer service to be very good, and ended up going with them after my mum used them and was very happy.

TalkTalk are rubbish and Virgin Media not far behind in the "rubbish ISP league table".

Gatekeeper · 26/02/2021 08:42

Cant agree with you there. I have always found them excellent and customer service very good. On the two occasions I have had an issue the operator has gone above and beyond to sort it
