I've made a Very Puzzling Discovery involving Rich Tea Biscuits today

I really like Rich Tea biscuits dipped in tea.

Today I dipped them in hot milk (which I also really like) - and they were revolting
😯.

I'm perturbed.

I don’t like biscuits or tea but a rich tea with lurpak. Bloody lovely.

*@harrykanesrightsock* try sandwiching digestive biscuits with butter. On a completely different level entirely, food of the gods. Try it.

@Tankflybosswalkjam

Well you’ve gone against the forces of nature so what do you expect?
@ Tankfky I can't argue with this. All I can do is apologise.

@noblegiraffe well that's another strange thing - I actually like that skin but not when it wraps itself around my rich tea.

Lots of lovely suggestions here - thank you. How morally wrong would it be if this week's food shop was mainly biscuits?

I'm not trying the Horlicks and rice crispies though, that's a step too far.

You can drink tea/coffee through loads of stuff. I have tried twirls, kitkats, wispas, twixs and chocolate fingers with success. Less good were yorkie biscuits.

Howmanysleepsnow · 25/02/2021 15:58

Buttered french bread dipped in hot chocolate.

@Caramelwhispers

I'm looking for a palm oil free rich tea brand because McVities use palm oil & their rich tea tastes rank now.
No they don't! Since when?

The only rich tea biscuits with palm oil are other brands, and luckily they don't taste the same!

AnotherCovidQuestion · 25/02/2021 19:07

@ShaunaTheSheep

Shortbread dipped in Baileys
To be honest, anything dipped in Baileys is gonna taste good!

@cunexttime

If you have to dunk rich tea in tea and malted milk in milk then that would mean dunking custard creams in either custard or cream, dunking bourbons in bourbon...
I don’t know why but this cracked me up.
Bluetrews25 · 25/02/2021 19:23

Now I really fancy a custard cream dipped in custard!
Or like a trifle with CCs in the bottom of the bowl and custard allowed to cool and set over the top.....or bourbons dunked in chocolate custard (ordinary custard made with cocoa powder or drinking chocolate mixed in with the custard powder) ...... Blush

ProfessionalWeirdo · 25/02/2021 19:31

Does anyone know why they're called Rich Tea? They're anything but rich.

Thanks for this as I stopped buying them a few years ago because they did have palm oil. The McVities disestives did the last time I checked, I don't know if they still do as I don't but them snymore. I found them too sweet, I missed the right balance of sweet & salty at the first bite.
AnotherCovidQuestion · 26/02/2021 07:48

Yeah, digestives might have, I haven't checked. But mcvities own Rich Tea biscuits definitely don't.

LunaNorth · 26/02/2021 07:51

This thread is hell for a coeliac.

Sometimes I just want a normal biscuit Sad

groundcontroltomontydon · 26/02/2021 08:48

hot milk
That's where you're going wrong. Hot milk is an abomination. If you dipped a lovely biscuit in poo you wouldn't be surprised that it no longer tasted of lovely biscuit.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 26/02/2021 10:50

Milk is gross. I'm not just saying that because I'm very lactose intolerant, but because it's gross. You want Hobnobs anyway. They're the king of the biscuits for dunking. Two Hobnobs sandwiched together with peanut butter is a delight, but not for dunking.

Ijustlikedthename · 26/02/2021 10:56

Yum-toast crusts in coffee!
Hot milk is yuck! Reckon they'd taste good in cold milk though!

sproutsandparsnips · 26/02/2021 11:00

Hmm, I find rich tea biscuits unbelievably boring.
BUT when I was a young girl (quite a long time ago) I remember having rich tea sandwich biscuits with cream in the middle. These were quite nice.

AprilThe8th · 26/02/2021 11:12

Rich tea dunked in coffee 😋

Crankley · 26/02/2021 13:16

IMO hot milk is revolting so I'm not surprised.

Practicalprat · 26/02/2021 19:33

I’m a double rich tea dipper too.just at the point it swells, straight in the mouth yum.🤭

Raera · 26/02/2021 19:48

Mars bar in milky coffee - just saying!

Be careful what you dunk in a beaker. Wink
