All guardians of toddlers welcome, we offer ideas, activities, and a shoulder to lean on when it all gets too much. We’ve conquered winter, next stop spring!

@PinkDaydreams have seen signs saying ducks and swans like peas and sweetcorn!

@MonkeyPuddle , oh no! The washing of the nappy, I've done that a few times too , the mess, I've never seen anything like it!

@MessAllOver try not to dwell, we all have truly horrendous days we would rather erase from memory. I guess we have to take the good with the bad days. Onwards and upwards.

Have passed some time today with magnetic tiles, I put them on the radiator and fireguard and 14 month old likes to take them off and put them on again. Also Galt water magic books are quite good as mess free.

Had playground disaster as had to leave 2 minutes after getting there as 3 year old cut lip on climbing frame. Lots of tears but ok now.

Hope everyone gets some peace tonight.

Loving all the very fat ducks, we only have a couple near us and they are nearly always hiding from the hordes of kids trying to feed them! Grin

We've had a nice couple of days making the most of the non rainy days. We went out without coats for yesterday's walk and it was bliss not having to bundle DD up to the eyeballs. Today we have made s Victoria sponge, more walks and 'helped' mummy unpack the Tesco delivery. It's the weeks biggest highlight, DD loves to stand at the door and say 'HI' every time the delivery man comes with the next crate. Only social interaction she gets, poor thing!

PinkDaydreams · 23/02/2021 16:32

I saw those Galt magic pen water books in Lidl the other day, are they any good?

Peas and sweetcorn hey, I'd never have guessed that!! I've ordered a tub of duck food off Amazon, not in stock for a couple of weeks so I'll give the corn and peas a try whilst waiting. I tried cornflakes the other day but they were left untouched Blush

My boy loves helping unpack the shopping! I regularly let him empty the tins cupboard and put it back again, gives me ten mins to have a cuppa :)

@PinkDaydreams DS likes them. Good for quiet non messy play. He’s got one of these as well which gets him engrossed for a good 30 mins

Galt Water Magic are good as you can use over and over again. Worth the money I think.

meow1989 · 23/02/2021 17:16

Gallery water is good but you have to be careful not to scratch off the surface or it stops working .

We feed the duxks a mixture of sunflower seeds, frozen peas and wild bird seed.

We went for a 2 hour windy walk which was fun, had a bath now watching small foot.

OhToBeASeahorse · 23/02/2021 18:02

Hello everyone

It's been a while since I've posted on here! I have great days and terrible days. DS is now 2.5 and DD is 4 months

I've never been this exhausted.

PinkDaydreams · 23/02/2021 18:06

@MonkeyPuddle thank you, he's got something similar which I've found has really helped with his speech. (he has a speech therapist as he's behind). I'll go be the magic pen book Galt a try as well.

So jealous of those who have been for walks. Nipped to the ship this morning then Amazon emailed me a time slot, got home in time but it got pushed back twice meaning I was stuck in, then by the time it came it was pouring down so couldn't go out Envy
Playmobil today, playing with pretend leaves, cars and lots of books (also some iPad as well, sshhhhhh) bath time now then chilled out playing and stories then bedtime.
I feel like I'm wishing my boys life away waiting for nursery to reopen and the museum's and libraries, anyone else feel the same? There's only so much walking and going to the playground that can be done.

PinkDaydreams · 23/02/2021 18:08

Oh, had my covid vaccine, completely wiped me out for 2 days. Wasnt expecting it to make me feel so terrible! Genuinely horrendous, so be prepared to feel ill! I went in thinking "yeah I'll be fine, I've got a strong immune system", oh how wrong I was!!

Same4Walls · 23/02/2021 18:16

Glad to see there's also many fat ducks in other parts of the UK Grin. The poor things round here look like someone inflated them with a balloon.

Do you know what, this really resonates with me. I hadn't even realised I was doing it but subconsciously for most of DSs life I've been doing exactly this. Longing and wishing for the future whwn we can do something other than walk and sit in a cold park, it's quite sad on reflection. Sad

It is sad isn't it?! I feel awful for doing it but it's been so hard, this lockdown for me has been the hardest
hustturnitoff · 23/02/2021 18:36

Joining in .. I have a very young toddler been walking 3 months. Been doing the park as it's fenced and a bit of time out of the pushchair.

It is incredibly sad. Sad It's not that I want him to grow up but equally when he gets older I'm hoping there will be stuff open and things to do and we will be able to see more family. Here's an unmumsnetty hug (hug) Smile.

Novice gardener me is planning on making one of these bad boys. If it all goes to shit it doesn’t matter as DS Will be happy with the canes 😂

I'm dreading my second dose as well, good luck to you, let us know how you get on. Flowers
WeSearchedHereWeSearchedThere · 23/02/2021 19:30

Way back when, we discussed smaller alternatives to tuff trays. These just popped up on my Facebook timeline, they look great if you don’t have a huge amount of space! craftypods.co.uk/

@PinkDaydreams I believe the reaction is worse when you have a strong immune system. So crappy experience but maybe a good thing. Not heard anything about reactions to second jab.

@MonkeyPuddle sweet pea thing looks great! I’d like to make a willow one, need to work out where to put it.

The worries about wishing time away resonate with me too. Especially for little 6 month DS2. Sometimes I worry that in the future everyone will go on about how 2020 was the worst year ever, and that will be his birth year!

I’m having my first dose on Friday along with DD’s 3rd set of baby jabs. I feel a fun weekend is on the cards.

Don't plan anything for the weekend!! Get all your food shopping in beforehand and plenty of paracetamol for yourself too. Get yourself a treat as well, some cake or chocolate or flowers, something that'll help you feel a bit better
Lostthetastefordahlias · 24/02/2021 06:41

I definitely agree PinkDaydreams with feeling bad about wishing the time away. When I look through my photos of the first 6 months of DD’s life compared to DS’s it seems like he has basically been sitting in a bouncer for 6 months whereas with her we had so much fun. Going to take some pictures at the weekend where he is not in a sleepsuit.
Thanks for this idea on the old thread footprintsintheslow - we just used it for counting practice rather than addition/ subtraction but it was a success. Looks like a nice day is forecast here today so hoping for a garden picnic. Wishing everyone strong coffee & endless patience haha.

Sorry to hear that so many of you are having a rough week with the side effects of the jab. It's helpful to know in advance for those of us who have yet to be vaccinated so thanks for the heads up. Hopefully the side effects don't last too long.

Nothing exciting planned here. I feel like I'm in a bit of a rut of not knowing what else to do with the small person. I need to find some motivation as everyday is starting to look the same again.
