All guardians of toddlers welcome, we offer ideas, activities, and a shoulder to lean on when it all gets too much. We’ve conquered winter, next stop spring!

Hi hope everyone is ok?

Just letting you know if anyone shops at Co-op , they have a summer aisle and I got a propeller thing for £2.50, and it launches the propeller into to the sky, fantastic entertainment for 3 year old who spent ages playing with it. 2 of the 3 propellers are now next door and one is on the roof but good fun for the money,. I'm going to go and get some more tomorrow.

Hope everyone gets some sleep.

MonkeyPuddle · 09/04/2021 19:59

@Motherofmonsters did DH come home? Hope you’re feeling better!

@footprintsintheslow I do intermittent fasting, well I’ve just restarted doing it. I did it before and lost 5 stone. There are lots of different types, some people do reduced calories (500kcal) x2 a week and others have a window of no food each day, which is what I do. Currently I have an 18hour fasting window so I eat between 2pm and and 8pm and out of that time I have water, black tea or black coffee. I have PCOS and I think I am insulin resistant, so fasting helps lower my blood glucose and blood insulin levels so I can burn fat rather than store it. I’m also an emotional eater, any emotion and I’ll eat! I usually snack during the evening but once 8pm hits my eating window closes and I can control my snacking as I just don’t let myself have it. During my eating window I eat pretty normally, currently having home made soup and cheese on toast for lunch, normal family meal for tea and sometimes we have a pudding for desert. Have a look at the diet doctor website and Jason Fung on YouTube (choose a shorter video cos he can waffle on).

@Chocolatetrifle amazing thank you! DS saw some kids at the park with a rocket launcher and he was super jealous! Might just pop into the co-op and get some mum points from him 😂

@MonkeyPuddle, Smile I am definitely after a rocket launcher too so I will hunt one down and let you know if I find one. We watched a Cbeebies programme the other day called Our Family and there was one on that where the kids jump on a pump and it launches the rockets, it looked great and he keeps talking about it.

These little propeller launchers might do the trick in the meantime. They also had water guns etc but I told DS1 that I'm not ready to get the hose pipe/water balloons out yet, it needs to be at least 15 degrees warmer for that.

Your fasting sounds hard but amazing, good luck with it. I need to lose weight too but I'm a terrible emotional eater too. You have inspired me to get cracking on it.

@Motherofmonsters, I think some days you just want someone to take over. Some days I get up and just cannot get my act together if I'm tired and I then I realise its all up to me to provide the entertainment and get the 2 little ones going too. Its a lot of responsibility!

Hope everyone gets some sleep.

MonkeyPuddle · 09/04/2021 21:11

@Chocolatetrifle that sounds exactly like the type we saw that the park! Kid jumping on something and then something blasting into the air! To be fair, I would quite like a go!

Re the emotional eating I listen to Allen Carrs emotional eating book, via audible. I did a free book sign up offer so didn’t pay for it! It’s a bit repetitive but I listen to it on the car (I do a two hour weekly round trip to drop D’S at his dads) and I find it helps me. I am much more rational about food now, I choose to eat what I want, when I want. Emphasis on when; that might be now, tomorrow, next week or when I’m at my target weight. But I feel in control of it, I still have to stop and think, but it’s much easier to choose to delay.

I’ve pushed back my fasting window tonight, we usually start at 8pm but we both fancied some nibble food, so we fast from 10pm til 3pm tomorrow.

Chocolatetrifle · 09/04/2021 21:15

@MonkeyPuddle There are rocket launchers aplenty on Amazon, I've just had a quick look, they range from about £12 to £25, but definitely jump on the pump and up they go type. Can't believe I've not thought of this before. This just proves that CBeebies is worthwhile Grin.

MonkeyPuddle · 09/04/2021 21:37

@Chocolatetrifle I’ve sent to his nana for his birthday in June. It will shit on the Lego I’ve bought him!

Chocolatetrifle · 10/04/2021 08:12

@MonkeyPuddle, Smile have ordered one too, they do look good fun! Your DS will be made up.

Morning all, hope everyone is ok today? How is everyone feeling today?

We are planning an early morning park visit. Hope everyone has a good day.

Motherofmonsters · 10/04/2021 08:18

DH came home in time for their bath so that was good. DD only woke up once last night so feeling positive this morning. DH has got to work most of today though so thats annoying.
My brother moved house yesterday so we're going to go over to his garden.

drumst1ck · 10/04/2021 11:29

Morning all, very sleety (April weather is weird) walk around the park this morning but as it's very likely our last weekend as a family of three we are doing our best to make the most of it!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, and hope you are doing okay @OhToBeASeahorse, have been thinking of you!

BeHereNowx32 · 10/04/2021 16:29

Hi!
Am I too late with joining this thread?
Feel stuck in a rut just now. I have a 2 year old DD. Who loves being outside, or tv! I feel like I’m doing things with her, but she still ends up watching hours of tv 🙈
Would be good to see new ideas and hopefully motivate myself.

Hope everyone having a nice weekend. I will try catch up with as much of the thread as I can!

Of course you're not too late! We are a very welcoming bunch on here Grin

Weather has been sunny but quite cold today, we've played out in the garden alot (I gladly sat under a blanket with a cup of tea ) then to the park after tea to run off a bit more energy.

I noticed the other day that asda are selling chunky pavement chalk for just £1 a pack. It took me ages last year trogging round the shops trying to find some! Anyway, it's gone down a treat today with my 3 year old Grin

MonkeyPuddle · 10/04/2021 18:27

Evening all.

Welcome @BeHereNowx32 we have various aged children so there’s lots of different ideas throughout the thread.

We’ve had a nice day, my sister has given us her old dining table, we needed a new one, ours was only a 4 seater and with DD’s arrival we needed a bigger one. And I like the free price tag! Just need to get some chairs.

We had a water fight in the garden today, in 6 degree weather, good fun but very cold!!

@PinkDaydreams I picked some of those chalks up today as well. We had them last year, they don’t wash off brick walls easily! Deffo keep them just on the floor unless you’ve got a pressure washer!

Same4Walls · 10/04/2021 18:42

Just popping my head in sorry for being awol for a few days we're dealing with some family stuff at our end and DS is cutting molars... It's not been a good week.

Will try to head back and read everyone's posts and catch up. Grin

Chocolatetrifle · 10/04/2021 19:57

@BeHereNowx32, welcome to this lovely group. Lots of ideas and support here.

@Motherofmonsters, glad you had a better night last night.

@drumst1ck, gosh only a week to go, not long now at all, how are you feeling? I remember the day before my planned c-section with Ds2 I thought what a surreal but exciting time, tomorrow there will be another of us! Hope all goes well, we will be thinking of you x

@PinkDaydreams, thanks for the chalk tip off, I do love a bit of chalk play outside. I'm a repressed artist I think (not much scope for drawing in the legal world - ha!).

@Same4Walls, sorry to hear you've had a tough week. Hope you are feeling better about things soon.

@MonkeyPuddle, you are braver than me for water fights in the garden today!

We had a few hours in the park this morning and I got some more propellers from CO-OP, my (and the boys') new favourite toy. I also picked up a twirling ribbon, so what with all them plus my carnival set I am ready to open my own circus.

Ds1 who was an absolute angel yesterday has been a nightmare all day despite all efforts, how can it change so much over night?

Hope everyone has a decent sleep.

PinkDaydreams · 10/04/2021 21:46

@Chocolatetrifle I saw twirling ribbons in Asda the other day and was so tempted! I know my son wouldn't be bothered with it then had images of me pretending to be an Olympic gymnast twirling it round and round only without the leotard and sleek bun and nowhere near as elegant! Grin

PinkDaydreams · 10/04/2021 21:47

Can someone please post a pic of the co-op propeller as I feel I'm missing out but can't picture what it looks like!Blush

PinkDaydreams · 10/04/2021 21:57

Need to moan sorry.....next door have been playing loud music on and off since 7pm, so annoying! They can't decide on a song so play about 1 minute then stop it, find another song, play that for a minute then round and round the cycle goes. It's so loud but I feel I can't say anything as it's not really that late yet and also they're normally quiet. Obviously drunk as the woman is singing (screeching) too. Son has white noise on so he's not been bothered by it, I picked my early night wrong! Ggrrrrrrr!

Camomila · 10/04/2021 22:01

Haha at the twirling ribbon @chocolatetrifle I bought one in Asda too. Its a bit too short to get a decent twirl :(

I'd also love to see a picture of the propellors, are they like those rockets you make with a bottle of water and a bike pump?

We had DS1s mini birthday party today, complete with park trip on new scooter. It was such a nice day. His favourite present was some Asda £5 water pistols - too cold to play with them outside sadly so he sprayed them in the bathroom for about an hour.

Am now drinking tea and eating left over birthday cake.

Chocolatetrifle · 10/04/2021 23:37

@PinkDaydreams, hope the music has stopped? So annoying that is. I know what you mean about the twirling ribbon! I got it as DS1 is definitely into gymnastics, he keeps doing forward rolls. I tried to do one, could most definitely not do one!

@Camomila, hope your son had a good birthday, it sounds like you had a lovely time.

I will try and attach a picture nowGrin

Thank you for the welcomes! Some good ideas already :) DD woke up at 4:45am today, so not sure how much we will get done today.
@PinkDaydreams Hope it wasn’t too late before you got some quiet

Motherofmonsters · 11/04/2021 07:07

Welcome beherenow sorry you've had an early start, it does make the day long. Hope they quietened down pink daydreams

It's looking like it's going to be a sunny day here, it's probably going to be a day in the garden.

Motherofmonsters · 11/04/2021 07:09

chocolatetrifle my DS would love those propellers, I'll have to go pick some up. I think the dog might take a liking to them to though.

PinkDaydreams · 11/04/2021 07:28

Those propellers do look good!

Music eventually stopped once DH went round and asked them to turn it down at midnight.

Any plans today? It looks like it's going to be sunny again here :)

Camomila · 11/04/2021 07:55

@Chocolatetrifle he had a lovely day thanks, he's old enough to remember his last lockdown birthday (1st lockdown where everyone went on one 1h walk per day) so was saying he was happy because he could see "everyone" (my mum and dad, and then my brother and his girlfriend at the park)

Those propellor things look fun Smile They remind me of those wind up fairy toys that were popular when we were young. They also do them in 'lego helicopter' version if there are any other birthdays coming up.

Welcome @BeHereNowx32 Smile
