When to stop cutting grapes?

DC is 6yo and I'm still slicing grapes in half (lengthways of course). It occurred to me that perhaps I am being ridiculous and over anxious. I was terrified by various news stories and a baby first aid course.

When did/will you stop?

Stopped at about 8 at home, but will carry on forever in packed lunches (or if DC are at home but in another room)!

@TableFlowerss - my mum was like that with gobstoppers too and I’ve never allowed my DC to have them.

DD is 10 and I still do, I can’t see myself stopping! She knows if she has them out and about she must always bite first - I showed her a diagram of how perfectly sized the grape is for a windpipe to illustrate the point!

I don’t anymore for my 9 year old but he’s been well trained to bite directly into it and to sit down when he’s eating.
I know people say they watch them like a hawk but in reality it takes a split second and you can still be watching them with hawk like eyes when it goes down and gets stuck - what then Shock
It’s pretty much the one thing I’ve ever been totally strict and inflexible about with my dc, sitting down to eat and biting into round smooth foods Grin
