And then she lost her mind

Here is a little story...

2 years ago DH and I bought a puzzle. It was of a place that has some lovely memories for us and also is in the same colours as our new kitchen. So we thought it would be nice to do it then frame it.

We started it but then life got in the way.

A couple of months ago we had some free evenings so decided to try and finish it. In a couple of nights we were down to the last few bits to do. One night we finished it - well, almost. As I reached to get the last piece I found to my horror that it wasnt there.

The puzzle has not been moved. So i contacted the manufacturer who offered a free replacement if your puzzle is incomplete. However, they were out of stock.

As I began my descent into madness I started to look on ebay and found they go for more than they were new. But I was determined. Eventually I got one for a reasonable price.

Today, with the baby asleep in her sling, I started going through the box for the missing piece.

I've been through it twice. No pieces fit.

Oh my god.

I once had a jigsaw with an extra piece, it was an edger too.

MiaowMiaow99 · 06/02/2021 11:31

What a beautiful jigsaw, and a great idea to frame once completed. I've no suggestions on how to fix though, apsrt from putting on a white backing prior to framing.

EscapeTheCastle · 06/02/2021 15:23

It's going to look great framed. Lovely.

I don't believe this.... I've just got to the end of the Paris jigsaw I mentioned earlier... and there's a bloody piece missing!! I think I jinxed myself Confused

LadyCatStark · 13/02/2021 20:21

Have you tried poking your finger into the gap? You might be magically transported to Paris!

Frownette · 13/02/2021 20:48

I have already lost my mind. I'm not about to approach any jigsaws.

The task is up to you, farewell my friend.

Poshjock · 13/02/2021 20:55

You have to complete the second jigsaw! Even if it's just to see if the same piece is missing Grin

I like your style. This place is very special to me too.

OliveHenry · 13/02/2021 22:19

I'm going to have a proper hunt for the missing piece tomorrow. Hoping it's just gone for a wander with the cat's help!

OliveHenry · 14/02/2021 11:44

Haven't had my search yet, but reviews here suggest missing pieces are very common!

Our cats love helping with jigsaws they are often the guilty party in missing pieces!!

A little update for you...

I decided to do the other puzzle. Made brilliant strides, about 3/4 done.

The same fucking piece is missing.

It's wrong to be laughing, isn't it?

FFS

😂😂😂😂😂😂

I would get in touch with manufacturer and ask for compensation!!!

Social media here you come 😳

I agree though frame it as it is and enjoy the tale of the jigsaw with the missing piece.

Yellow85 · 26/02/2021 16:40

I say frame it as is and make a talking point of the missing piece. Just tell him it because ‘he’s your missing piece’ 😂😍 and you have a one of a kind now

TheDoctorDances · 26/02/2021 17:01

I would blame the cat too. I was halfway through a 1000-piece puzzle recently and the fucking twat little mite knocked it off the table overnight. It’s a good job she’s cute.

RandomMess · 26/02/2021 17:06

DH is chortling away at your misfortune!

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 26/02/2021 17:13

No way!! This is very 2020/21 isnt it?

Wellyouknowbest · 26/02/2021 17:32

I didn't like puzzles until I saw yours, now I want it! Just what a need, another hobby and reason to collect Grin
