Yorkshire Tea makes a better brew

I don't usually get this - but fancied a change from usual generic Aldi brand.

Makes a lovely cuppa Brew Brew

enjoying the small things in life

Twining's Everyday isn't bad ...

Rainbowandscarlett · 04/02/2021 11:24

The malted milk tea by Yorkshire tea is the best
I leave it for about 30 seconds and it’s just lush
Cannot bear the jam on toast one tho

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 04/02/2021 12:07

Someone is Asda recommended the malted milk one to me but I felt like it just tasted of off milk. I was annoyed to have been swayed so easily Grin

PLAYJAJADINGDONG · 04/02/2021 12:10

The malted milk tea tasted like Farley's rusks to me. Most odd and not enjoyable.

Mrstwiddle · 04/02/2021 12:10

I’m another one who prefers Sainsbury’s own brand (red box)

peak2021 · 04/02/2021 12:11

@leafygarden42 I agree with you and surprised you had not found this out earlier. Yorkshire tea is one of the few benefits if any of climate change, as you could not get it when I was younger and we had real winters.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 04/02/2021 12:14

Yorkshire Tea for hard water here, I’ve never tried the gold.....

I enjoy good coffee but HAVE to have a decent brew to start the day off...

Gilead · 04/02/2021 12:17

Another one who buys it in 1000 bag sacks!

OccultGnuAsWell · 04/02/2021 12:47

Definitely Yorkshire teabags here (in Yorkshire).

Through work a couple of years ago I had to visit a site near Colchester. The brew I was offered was ok but meh. On my next visit I took a box of Yorkshire tea bags as a gift and they switched permanently to buying those as they preferred them. I felt a small glow of Yorkshire pride.

OliverBabish · 04/02/2021 12:55

My Dh LOVES Yorkshire Tea. I thought tea was just tea so I would just buy Aldi tea bags or whatever and he’d be disgusted Grin since he’s been doing the shopping more, he’s only bought Yorkshire Tea and they’ve been the best cuppas I’ve ever had. I haven’t admitted this to him yet though!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 04/02/2021 12:57

We used to buy the sacks before realising the boxes are sometimes cheaper per tea bag... So we buy what ever is on offer.

MyMonsteraisDeliciosa · 04/02/2021 13:02

Yes! I've recently switched from standard to Gold and I think it's better. I have both in so I'm going to make a cup of each now and compare because I'm bored (but really should be writing my dissertation)

TankGirl97 · 04/02/2021 13:06

We love Yorkshire tea too. Although I'll pick up Twinings Everyday too (when it's on special offer).

ChippyDucks150 · 04/02/2021 13:10

I love Yorkshire Tea too. I used to like Twinings everyday but it seemed to get weaker?? In a pinch I'd go for Scottish Blend. My gran used to love Nambarrie, don't know if you can get that now.

TressiliansStone · 04/02/2021 13:11

Oh god, I nearly started an "unpopular opinions" thread on this last year.Grin

I treated myself to a huge bag of Yorkshire tea... and I hated it.ShockSad

Couldn't wait for the bag to be finished.

I know.

I'm now banned from MN, and the UK, and will have to don a false moustache if I so much as pass through Yorkshire on the train.

But I found it just too rich. I mainline tea all my waking hours and prefer something with a more delicate flavour.

It's OK: have marmalade to go on that toast you're about to crisp me to... and some non-Yorkie tea to go with it.

Toorapid · 04/02/2021 13:17

The Yorkshire Tea brand annoys me because we're supposed to believe it's all traditional, but I had a Yorkshire Grandad who really loved his tea and I don't think it existed back then.

It is the best tea though. It's what Grandad would have drunk if he could. Grin

MsMiaWallace · 04/02/2021 13:24

Yorkshire Tea is an excellent brew.
I am just getting through a Twinnings everyday that I bought on offer & it is splendid!!

I'm going to try Sainsbury's red label next.

My Dad is a PG Tips man & won't have it any other way the heathen!!

HerNameIsIncontinentiaButtocks · 04/02/2021 13:27

I prefer normal Yorkshire to the Gold. I've tried the decaff but it loses half the flavour so I'm not a fan.

MintyCedric · 04/02/2021 13:34

Soft southerner here...Yorkshire Hard Water and Betty's are the only brands allowed over my threshold.

steppemum · 04/02/2021 14:09

NO!

Can't stand Yorkshire tea, and don't understand the cult like following it has. Wink

It has a real tanine aftertaste, like an over stewed builders brew.

I liek a strong tea, with no aftertaste. Usually buy Asda's, but happy with most supermarket own brand (not the smart price though)
From branded tea, the only one is Tetley.

Davros · 04/02/2021 14:10

M&S Gold or Yorkshire

TheNoodlesIncident · 04/02/2021 14:13

@leafygarden42 Don't bother trying the Sainsbury's own, it really is awful. Lots of their stuff is good but the teabags aren't; we used to use the cafe in Sainsbury's for our weekly shop, I'd dump DS and DH in the cafe whilst blissfully doing the shop by myself. We had to stop getting a tea for DS in there because he hated that it didn't taste "like proper tea". DH and I could manage to drink it, but DS is a more sensitive blossom and he couldn't. He'd rather go without. And with good reason, it just tastes... odd.

We are a Yorkshire family, there are other acceptable teabag producers out there but Yorkshire (plain or Gold) is our favourite.

(Have not tried Betty's but am trying to avoid finding more delectable chocolate and cakes online, so will give that a swerve just in case. )

Isababybel · 04/02/2021 14:17

Hands down the best tea. I purchase the huge pouches (1040 teabags?) on Amazon Brew
The decaf version is very disappointing though, as i discovered whilst pg.

steppemum · 04/02/2021 14:20

TressiliansStone

I'm with you Grin
