Bizarre food combos?!

BabyBee93 · 27/01/2021 15:36

Sat here eating lasagne spread over some potato waffles for lunch and it's got me thinking about all the weird food combos I love and curious as to whether anyone has any stranger?

Some of my favourites include:

Ham and marmite on toast
Sausages and mayonnaise
Scrambled eggs with gravy granules
Grapes and hummus
Olives and Camembert on toast

Any advances? Grin

Tuna pasta salad is delicious with apple!
I love cheese & jam sandwiches. DB used to have lemon curd & luncheonmeat or haslet with marmalade, neither of which I have tried. We used to have sugar sandwiches as kids, preferably with tiger bread. And I loved the French tradition of baguette with squares of chocolate, although pain au chocolat is a common thing.

Ran out of crisps and had a poppadum sandwich. Would try again with some spring onion, lime pickle and maybe a thin slice of cheese

I accidentally made a ham and jam sandwich, DH had put a jar of jam in with the chutneys. It tasted better than it sounds.😃

TroysMammy · 27/01/2021 19:45

I've just eaten a salmon fillet and some homemade spiced apple chutney. I'll never keep my chutneys just for cheese again.

Pear and stilton toastie. Delicious!

Cinnamon and raisin bagels and cream cheese!

Tinned plum tomatoes on toast with mango chutney. Amazing.
And this sounds a bit out there but I make a dip for crudités by mixing muller coconut and vanilla yoghurt with mayo and horseradish. Sweetness of the yoghurt is perfect with the horseradish! Admittedly I discovered this by mistake thinking I had taken the tub of plain yoghurt out the fridge but it works!

I put brown sauce on macaroni cheese. It’s glorious - the sharpness cuts through the creamy sauce really well.

SeasTheDay · 27/01/2021 22:12

Vinegar on lasagne. People scoff at the idea but those who dare to try it realise it’s living the taste dream! Grin something to do with the acid I presume but it de-feckin-liscious!
