What colour are your sofas?

My sitting room needs a complete makeover. I think my starting point needs to be a new sofa but I can't decide on a colour.

The one I have is sort of bluey grey so I would like a change. I'm strangely tempted by orange or pink!

Cream - very boring, bought them cheaply over 20 years ago from MFI (remember them ) - we thought we'd just keep them whilst our DS was a baby - the covers wash really well - but they've never worn out & although they aren't particularly comfortable we've just put up with them .

Mine is brown, with loads of cushions in brown red and yellow, some with really funky picture prints and heated throws. It is a 4 metre corner sofa, absolutely massive. The whole family and the dog can fit on it. Visitors love it but are absolutely gobsmacked by its size. I don't do fashionable colours as even if I wanted to I couldn't afford to replace it.

Thanks for the further replies. I like all the pictured sofas too. That's my problem - I like so many that it's hard to make a decision.

Dark blue velvet, was very tempted by maroon and yellow velvet sofas too. I like colour in general though and it matches my Persian rug and colour scheme of blue, maroon and yellow (the chair is yellow). Velvet seems very easy to keep clean with kids just as long as you don’t go for a light colour.

Muffin is that more blue than green ? Love it, where’s it from?

Mine is white and all I can say is do not get a white sofa.

Grey and I hate it now. I want a teal blue one (my friends just bought one and its stunning). i have major sofa envy and am seriously considering leaving DD3 and a plate of (cold) chicken tikka masala alone for 2 mins near my grey one while I nip for a wee

I bought a chocolate soft leather sofa which is super comfy and still looks like new 12 years later. I got bad back on my last enormous L shaped sofa after having 2 DC so had to really think about the design. The leather is cool in the summer, warm in winter and obviously easy to clean.

Ours is Terracotta, about 15 years old. It was a fashionable colour when we bought it! I like it though , our living room looks really cosy.

We have the cerise pink dfs elin sofa :) its quite old now but still in really good condition surprisingly!
I turn all the cushions round so the pink is showing not the patterned side and have added some burnt orange velvet cushions too 🤩

One teal fabric, one navy leather

All in the same fabric and style I have a:

Dark grey/charcoal (see photo)
Dark mustard (see photo)
Dark turquoise (behind DS in photo)

This way they all "go" but nothing looks to matchy-matchy

Cream leather. Needs replacing now as daft husband left two pups unsupervised while he went shopping and they chewed the sofa and both chairs but getting anything of good quality is so expensive.

Mine is a Pacific blue Loaf. I love it but I wanted an orange sofa. DP could not be persuaded.

Cream leather, what was I thinking about when I bought them? Next time grey that won't show the dirt.

I've got very dark purple (sort of aubergine colour) & a pale amethyst in one room.
Pretty much everything seems to go with the dark purple which I hadn't expected.
Light blue sea spray sort of colour in another.

Grey sofa which I’m bored of already after three years and blue velvet armchairs which I absolutely love! Seems I have lots of photos of the pup and not too many of the furniture! He seems to like them too though!

I've got a dark grey corner sectional - boring but practical as (pre-Covid) it was regularly used for teen sleepovers.

If I was trying to decide on a colour, the things I'd be thinking about are the things you can't or won't be changing about the room.

E.g. does it have to work with existing furniture or flooring? What colour / material are they? Is it a cool (eg north facing) aspect room, or a warm sunny room, etc etc

Get some swatches if possible to see how the colour actually looks in your room.
