...beef stew, chilli or a pie?

Am bored of the above. Have quite a well stocked cupboard. Just fancy something different!

Ideas welcome ☕🥐

I use the slow cooker and a jar of curry paste from Morrison’s to make Thai red curry. Fry off each ingredient before putting it in slow cooker, a stick of lemongrass. Coconut milk. Jasmine rice. Lots of veg.

Beef rendang

badpuma · 10/01/2021 14:06

Beef with chilli and Thai basil?

Marinade diced beef with 2-3 chopped chillis, 2 chopped cloves of garlic.

Chop and fry and onion and green pepper, add the beef and some green beans and then 1 tbsp of oyster sauce 2 tbsp of fish sauce and 2 tbsp of light soy sauce.

Serve with jasmine rice.

We got m and s black bean sauce and some Chinese nibbles and their green stir fry veg and some fresh noodles. Delish

@BlackDogBlues

The suggestions of kebabs and burgers make me think the OP on the 97% of people cant cook thread may have a point.
Chuck steak/braising steak make the best burgers. Heston Blumenthal uses chuck, short rib and brisket in his recipe. I guess you could make kofta style kebabs too. Although, if you have a mincer, OP, that offers lots of alternatives.
MouseholeCat · 10/01/2021 14:16

Cook it low and slow and shred for tacos/burritos/tostadas. You could even do the same with different flavours and make ragu and serve with pasta.

Eminybob · 10/01/2021 14:22

I know you said not stew, but this recipe is so nice and the Parmesan dumplings make it a bit different. I use braising steak but I’m sure diced beef would work. It’s what we are having tonight as it happens.

I love beef adobo in the slow cooker. It’s diced beef cooked with stock, soy sauce and vinegar and it’s so delicious.

Why do people keep suggesting pies when OP says in the first line 'that isn't beef stew, chilli or pie'?

I mean, there's not reading the full thread but not even reading the first post?

I'd probably do beef ramen or beef in black bean sauce / oyster sauce with mushrooms.

PLAYJAJADINGDONG · 10/01/2021 14:41

Thanks all! Loads of recipes to save for future use!

Turns out I didn't have quite the right storecupboard stuff for rendang but did have loads of scallions, ginger and chilli so am doing the braised Chinese beef that I think Notonthestairs recommended upthread.

It's just about to go in to the oven and my whole house smells amazing!

@PLAYJAJADINGDONG

Ooh rendang could be good. I'm sure I have some tamarind paste in the cupboard.

Thanks for all the suggestions and keep them coming!

I used ot live in Indonesia. I learnt how to cook rendang while there from my house helper and make it quite often, with either beef orchicken.

I have never put tamrind paste in it!

Notonthestairs · 10/01/2021 14:56

Enjoy! We are having the sameGrin

Lifeispassingby · 10/01/2021 14:59

We just had steak pudding and it was delicious 😋

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 10/01/2021 15:02

@Honeybobbin

How would you make a burger or meatballs with diced beef? Confused
Maybe they mean bin the beef and go to McDonalds?
ghislaine · 10/01/2021 15:06

Put it through a mincer?

Eminybob · 10/01/2021 15:19

Good choice op. I made it once and it was delicious but the rest of my fussy family weren’t impressed so we’ve never had it since. Gutted as is lovely.

Sticky teriyaki beef, veg and jasmine rice

Xerochrysum · 10/01/2021 15:33

Curry, stroganoff, Chinese/Japanese/Thai style stir fry,

Crinkle77 · 10/01/2021 23:23

@Honeybobbin

How would you make a burger or meatballs with diced beef? Confused
My mum's for a mincer 😁
MyNameHasBeenTaken · 11/01/2021 14:27

Sorry, I misread
I thought op had mince beef, not diced beef
In which case, I amend my suggestions to
Put your diced beef through a mincer and make meatballs
