Something sparkly to replace my tree

Going to the take the Christmas tree down in the next few days but will really miss my twinkly lights in the evening. Any recommendations for something to replace it with that will still make me feel cosy in the evenings? I've seen a light up twig tree thing in Argos, it's got white lights though and I wanted a warmer white/yellowy lights.

I have a big crackle glass globe, similar to this, with fairy lights inside. It looks lovely, also some star fairy lights around a tall dresser with mirror above in our hall. I can't not have SOME fairy lights!

My MIL has a giant vase full of fairy lights. We have a fireplace full of candles.

Bluntness100 · 02/01/2021 20:05

We have tall plants in corners, think the sort of six foot IKEA bamboo ones, amongst others, like fake japense ones, in big decorative pots and wrap fairy lights round the trunks. Looks quite elegant and brightens up dark corners.

HighInTheHills · 02/01/2021 20:15

@Bluntness100 that sounds gorgeous from your description! I don't suppose you'd post a photo, would you? I'd love to see!

delilahbucket · 02/01/2021 20:16

We usually have fairy lights in a vase but I've been eyeing up a crackle glass globe this evening.

Bluntness100 · 02/01/2021 20:18

CaptainMyCaptain · 02/01/2021 21:22

I've been talking about this (on Facebook) with some friends today. Keeping up some lights and making a non-christmas wreath for the door.

thefirstmrsrochester · 02/01/2021 21:25

I’m bringing these into the house tomorrow to put in the fireplace or on the mantle. Branches from a willow with white lights wrapped round them. I will maybe change to warm lights.

Great ideas here

im5050 · 02/01/2021 21:43

I have some stick lights that come on when you walk past them they are usb type and last for 30 days without being charged I have these in my hallway
In the living room I have these lamps but you can’t put wax melts in them and they give off a lovely glow and smell and because it’s a bulb I don’t worry about the house burning down 😂
I also have some multi color changing lights around the mirror upstairs

TolstoyAteMyHamster · 02/01/2021 21:45

I have a lovely white neon star from John Lewis which stays up year round. I love lights!

ssd · 02/01/2021 21:53

Would anyone else mind posting pictures?

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 02/01/2021 22:24

I have a crackle globe too. Also fairy lights in the window, round the mirror and in the fireplace. I've dimmed the big light - which is a chandelier so twinkly anyway - and lit some candles too.

Plus I have a cat on my lap, which always helps with coziness.

PaintTheFence · 02/01/2021 22:30

We've felt really sad about taking the decorations down this year so have ordered some more fairy lights to go up in the living room and kitchen.

Riverhousepuppy · 02/01/2021 22:43

We have boxes of seasonal decorations for spring, summer, autumn and winter ( not christmas). At the start of each season the relevant box comes out and we out those decs up. It includes fairy lights, snowy tablecloth, clean cotton wax melts, cushion covers, some snowdrop ornaments and a picture taken of a snowy scene near us which will go above the fireplace. These decs will stay up til 1st March when new box comes out and repeat. There isn't loads in each but really nice to have a change and recognition of the seasons.

CaptainMyCaptain · 02/01/2021 22:44

Great idea @Riverhousepuppy.

They fit around your tv and you can choose which colour you fancy.

We used to have them but they broke when we moved house.

Here’s another one, I have four in different rooms. During the day you can’t see they have fairy lights in them, at night I just switch them on and they lighten up dark corners, and it’s as cheap as chips to do.

You can do it much better too, use the lights with a thin wire snd wrap it better, but in real life you just see the sparkly lights.
