We’re still in bed (DH, the dogs and me!) as we’re hungover..well DH and I are anyway.. too much champagne and Patron from last night 🤢 DH made me coffee and toast and now we’re trying to muster the enthusiasm to go for a walk in the woods, something I usually love doing but today the thought isn’t doing much for me 🤦🏻‍♀️ The cold air should blow the cobwebs away. Later I’m making risotto (in the pressure cooker) and watching a movie..possibly with a glass of red 🍷

Happy New Year everyone

WhatTheFoot · 01/01/2021 10:27

Me and dh have just got up, dds still in bed.
We have no plans, we usually go to my parents for a 3 course lunch with my Sister and her family but obviously can't this year so I'm making a roast for us 4 later on. Might take the tree down.

junglepie · 01/01/2021 10:30

going to do a bit more tidying an dcleaning. about 11 million loads of washing. will go for a run - will have to be on the treadmill though as we are all self isolating till Sunday following dd positive test!
Goiing to cook roast beef dinner. Need to think of something I can make for desert (?chocolate sponge pudding maybe?)as was going to pop to the shops to buy something but now isolating (see above!) Going to try to encourage teenage dc to play a board game - last 3 attempts have ended in an argument LOL!
WIll alos try and read a bit ore of my book.
First though I need another coffee to shift the lingering post wine headaache!!

Superstardjs · 01/01/2021 10:33

Still in bed, will get up any minute now, probably... teenager slept until late afternoon yesterday so not expecting to see her for a while. I need to do some cleaning, NYD habit. I also need to go for a walk - the thought of which bores me to tears - but central heating is making me dopey and I need to move my lazy arse, not been out in days. Dry January thank God and WSM final tonight.

Inmyownlittlecorner · 01/01/2021 10:34

Tier 4 here but they’ve opened the Zoo so we’re going there. It was so busy on our walk over the heath yesterday that we wore masks the whole time so I imagine the zoo will actually be quieter!

lucysmam · 01/01/2021 10:36

I'm the only one up so I'm having a cuppa in silence. Cup is almost empty though so I'll have to make another one.

I've got beef in the slow cooker - I can never get it right in the oven, it's always tough :( & will turn it into a roast later on.

Decs are coming down today. I'm ready for a big clean downstairs at least. I'll probably have the kitchen done before anyone else surfaces.

I imagine the girls will chill & Minecraft for the day. I'll do some crafting; dd2 might join me and do another page of the scrap book we bought to record the life of her praying mantis in or some other crafting herself.

InvisibleToEveryone · 01/01/2021 10:38

Just put oven cleaner on the oven, that needs a couple of hours to "sit".

Take down the decorations, erm...maybe some washing as my children seem to think the laundry basket is some sort of monster feeding bowl and must never be empty.Hmm

Maybe iron DH work stuff, depends on how long everything else takes and how long my inclination lasts!

F0M0 · 01/01/2021 10:40

Just had breakfast.

6.5 month old DS is napping so DH and I are having a coffee and 5 mins peace.

When he wakes I'll get him dressed and take him a walk round the park in his pram before tackling the cleaning/tidying.

Later this afternoon we'll FaceTime MIL as it's her birthday, then make dinner (well, DH will).

After getting DS to bed we'll watch the soaps ('we' meaning I') and then probably be in bed by 10.30pm.

Stayed up for the bells last night and it was the first time I've seen midnight since the wee man was born 😴

OooErrThor · 01/01/2021 10:46

Still in bed, just convinced DH to go down and make me a tea and put some breakfast on. I'm hoping the aroma of cooking sausages will get me the teenagers out of their pits.

I plan a walk this afternoon, I've given up trying to get the DCs to come with us, taking down the decorations and a beef joint for dinner.

Quite looking forward to the normality again, however the DCs won't be going back to school, DH is furloughed so it'll just be me in my own routine. I wonder when 'normality' will return?

Abraxan · 01/01/2021 10:48

Not much, lazy day I reckon.
May go for a short walk to get some fresh air.

And me or dh need to drive dd over to the covid mobile u it so she can have her pre-returning to university test done, as she's due to go back on Sunday. University have told them to get a pcr test done ideally beforehand, or they can go for two quick Ines in return. So figured we'd book this - result might not be back before she goes but it wouldn't be if she did the quick one anyway.

jay55 · 01/01/2021 10:50

Vegging out to Cobra Kai series 3.

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 01/01/2021 11:00

Having a lazy morning but will use the afternoon to sort the house.
DP is drinking earl grey and eating chocolate digestives. Roast beef for dinner which I cooked yesterday. I’m going to ask DP to come or a walk with me later around the houses to see the lights.

joeysapple · 01/01/2021 11:02

I'm having a "self care" day.

Done a workout, now having a bath. Will fake tan, whiten my teeth, paint my nails and then probably go for a walk for some fresh air. Planning to eat loads of fruit and veggies and "good" stuff.

lljkk · 01/01/2021 11:26

2 hour walk (errands) done.

Need to get some milk.

Cycle ride with DS later, need to recharge lights... some cleaning. Might peek at work emails.

maddiemookins16mum · 01/01/2021 11:59

We didn’t go to bed until after 1am (I was making sausage butties at 11pm!!). Woke up after 9am!! My bladder usually wakes me at 5am without fail. Just had poached eggs on toast.
Quick tidy through, online shopping and a quick load of washing.
Steak pie, mash and loadsa veg for dinner (about 4pm).
Will also make a Pannetone bread and butter pudding for later on.
We have a Zoom Quiz of The Year with some friends tonight starting at 8pm.
I also intend to have a nice bath, a snooze on the sofa and watch something on Disney +.
I’m now entering my 4th year alcohol free so I’m feeling relieved I yet again managed the year (with all its hurdles without turning to drink).

ilovebagpuss · 01/01/2021 12:24

Listening to a soothing folk compilation, drinking coffee and tidying the NYE mess. Only ourselves and two DD’s we zoomed karaoke With some friends but house looks like we had a rave.
Might have a walk and make a chilli for later.
Toying with taking secs down as DD1 is 14 in a few days and I like to draw a line between Christmas and her birthday.
Can’t actually get off the sofa though.

Benjispruce2 · 01/01/2021 12:27

NYD is like a Sunday here so a big dog walk and roast dinner.

Blueberryblueberry · 01/01/2021 12:42

Love hearing about everyone's days. It was bacon butties this morning and I took the decs down whilst DH had a lie in. Kids were v surprised it was lunch time as they hadn't moved from the kitchen TV since breakfast Hmm After a shower think we'll go for a walk in the woods if I can get the DC into clothes... probably a movie this evening (I feel like we've watched ALL the movies) and baking a birthday cake once the DC are in bed.

garlictwist · 01/01/2021 12:52

I've just cycled to the swimming pond with a couple of mates (tier 3) to watch them do a new years dip. Not for me - the water was 2 degrees.

Will probably just veg out for the rest of the day.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 01/01/2021 12:55

Not much.

Long snowy/icy dog walk first thing.
Loads of laundry to do as I’ve let it back up over Christmas.
Another dog walk later just to let him go to the loo and chase a ball for 20 mins.

T3 here.

EternalOptimist7 · 01/01/2021 12:56

middleager I am lucky enough to live by the sea but you’d be surprised how little I actually go to the beach, even in summer. This needs to change!

happymummy12345 · 01/01/2021 15:12

Sleeping then not a lot. This was the first year my husband was off all New Year's Eve and all New Year’s Day. Usually he has to work New Year’s Day so we are always conscious of that. And we don’t have our son at home for the first time as my dad has him (he offered and was more than happy to. And he lives alone so the 3 of us and him are in a support bubble so not breaking any rules at all).

It’s my favourite night of the year. This new year has been perfect for me. Music and drinks. We went to bed at 8.40am. Had the best night ever

User56770987 · 01/01/2021 15:21

Put steak pie filling in slow cooker
Had a frosty walk with my cousin and family.
DC playing while I'm chilling out on sofa.
Going to tidy up a few things and get some wee jobs like thank you card and get well cards sent.
Going to have make rest of dinner and maybe do a movie night for the kids.
Once they're in bed I reckon watch a bit of telly and read my book.
Might start my new bullet diary too.

SimonJT · 01/01/2021 15:34

I can confirm that birdhouse making and painting was very messy, but on the bright side my son wants to watch the boxes until a bird goes in each one. So that gives me what, three months of child free time?

WildRosie · 01/01/2021 15:59

I had a brief trip to Sainsbury's after lunch. Then I cleaned the microwave, cooker hob and splashback. Did the washing up then emptied the bins. Now I'm having tea and crumpets, listening to The Three Degrees.
