Is it not just the same thing really?

There is a difference if you have kids who do clubs!!
All kids clubs close in lockdown. In tier 4 organised covid secure sports Clubs inside and out are allowed to open.
Also places of worship are open for limited numbers in some places
Some open air events open in tier 4 but not lockdown

EssentialHummus · 23/12/2020 19:55

Infection rates? Grin

Schools. Not for long though.

Staffy1 · 23/12/2020 20:09

Schools were kept open throughout the last lockdown, so no difference there.

Cheers2That · 23/12/2020 20:11

I’m been made to go to work, lockdown I was furloughed, tier 4 expected in the office.

Singingrain1223 · 23/12/2020 20:15

Tier 4 you can play golf in a pair, tennis singles outside and outdoor swimming pools are open.

HuaShan · 23/12/2020 20:15

In addition to places of worship being open, outdoor sports venues are also open. Golf, tennis and outdoor pools

StealthPolarBear · 23/12/2020 20:19

In the first lockdown there seemed to be a much stricter expectation that you left the house as infrequently as possible. I remember trying to extend the gap between popping to the local supermarket. I'm only in tier 3 at the moment but there is no emphasis on that as far as I can tell. Is that also the case in tier 4?

onyourway · 23/12/2020 20:28

Non essential businesses are still open. My daughters workplace is still open and looks to continue, but she was furloughed from March to July.

Witchend · 23/12/2020 20:41

@FizzyPink

DP is allowed to work outside in tier 4 as long as he only teaches one person at a time - tennis coach He hasn’t been allowed to work during either of the previous lockdowns
LTA says: Group coaching of under 18s CAN take place with a maximum of 15 on one court
  • Individual one to one coaching of adults CAN take place.

So if he fancies having the stupidity of 15 children on one court he can. How you would safely in non-covid times manage 15 children on a court and give decent coaching is beyond me, but he's welcome to try it.

ghostmous3 · 23/12/2020 20:53

Were in level 4 in wales and I think we are in lockdown apart from the school shutting

No outdoor sports allowed either. We are back to exercise from home and no picnics and sitting on park benches allowed

Tellmelies65 · 23/12/2020 21:07

Not really but I don’t think it will be long until these a national one.

MistleTOEboughski · 23/12/2020 21:10

Have you seen all the memes about tiers? I've been to the tier 3000. Not much has changed, but we live under water.

loulouljh · 23/12/2020 21:13

Nothing..they are just avoiding the name..

Firefliess · 23/12/2020 23:05

I think driving lessons and tests are still allowed in tier 4. They weren't during either lockdown.

Firefliess · 23/12/2020 23:08

Grin @mistle I'd not seen that one!

MercyBooth · 24/12/2020 00:28

Neil "i expect everyone to give up everything except me when i need to get my pecker wet" Ferguson.

nosswith · 24/12/2020 07:36

A lot.

Schools will re-open.
No night time curfew (as the French have).
Quarantine is at home, not in a hotel room as in Australia.
You can travel a long way from home if done in a day and back.
Little police enforcement, almost none if you haven't upset neighbours at any point.
Some non-food shops open.

to list a few.

NaughtipussMaximus · 24/12/2020 07:38

@Letseatgrandma

Schools were open in the November lockdown and Tier 4. I would imagine Tier 4 will have very little impact on reducing covid numbers.

The only thing that does seem to make a difference is closing schools.

This isn’t true at all. Cases were coming down by the end of November, even though schools were open.
megletthesecond · 24/12/2020 07:39

Tier 4 means those fantastically "covid secure" schools will stay open.

Thatwentbadly · 24/12/2020 07:40

@GirlCrush

What will tier 5 look like?

I bet they have one organised ready.

You have more faith in our gov then I do then.

Lockdown is a phrase used by the media not the government. That’s the only difference I can see.

RememberSelfCompassion · 24/12/2020 07:45

We are one of the few not yet in tier 4.

Are kids indoors sports allowed in tier 4? Like gym/dance/trampolining etc?

Toocold · 24/12/2020 08:47

All kids clubs are shut in tier 4, I’m sure there are some exceptions but ballet and gymnastics are shut for us.

Toocold · 24/12/2020 08:47

Trampoline parks are shut as is soft play, I’m surprised we’re allowed to go to wet and soggy playparks!

Moonandstars25 · 24/12/2020 12:42

@Toocold

I’m sure that will come when tier 4 doesn’t work.
