I've had a procedure done under conscious sedation - the good thing for me was that I react really badly to full anaesthetic so I didn't't have the indignity of vomiting repeatedly as I came round.

@WhipperSnapperSteve, of course you're scared. It's scary to think of what other people are going to do with your body. It's scary and takes a huge amount of trust. And the lack of control is so hard too.
But they're there to help and support you.
