Anyone up for a calm, soothing thread?

It is absolute anxiety inducing carnage on this site tonight. If, like me, you are reading certain threads and feeling your blood pressure and pulse go through the roof, please join this thread for some calm Flowers

I'll start: I'm in bed with my cat, listening to Stephen Fry reading Harry Potter. Looking forward to watching a christmas film with DS tomorrow.

Lovely thread.

I’m recovering from an op and I realize how much the outside world carries on regardless of me being involved or not.

I normally care, very much, but I can’t do anything about it at the moment so the responsibility is off my shoulders.

We need a picture of your dreamie filled car! Or your cat, I don’t mind which.

Where is it snowing?!

Bargebill19 · 21/12/2020 01:11

Here you go. The snoring one is curled up at the right of the photo.

I'll continue this thread as it is providing a welcome tonic from everything else this morning.

No idea if the shops are full of panic buyers!!

Lies down in a darkened room

The panic spreaders are out in force today!

tinselearedcow · 21/12/2020 08:48

I'm going to make some chestnut stuffing later and freeze it for the Big Day.

treening · 21/12/2020 08:48

Some of the threads are awful actually.

I know, they have made me feel a bit anxious.
treening · 21/12/2020 08:52

Enough to make anyone feel anxious I think. I stick to the BBC!

@Imiss2019

Ooh toast and jam sound very soothing. I’ve been fairly stoic about it all but tonight I feel awful. I have to go food shopping tomorrow and tonight’s post have got me dreading it! Cuddling up with this guy and trying not to let it all get to me. I may get up and make some toast and butter to share with the dog!
Even your picture is soothing so thank you for that Smile

Oh my goodness I needed this thread.

Currently enjoying not working, drinking a very large cup of tea, still in my dressing gown. The Christmas tree is looking good (well, the kids decorated it so looks like someone threw up on it, but the lights are pretty) and cats are snoozing.

The day won’t be all like this, it’s going to be difficult and emotional (funeral) so needed a calm and soothing start.

LooksLikeImStuckHere · 21/12/2020 08:54

I’d like to think if threads had sounds, this one would be of a crackling fireplace. And possibly snoring pets if the photos are anything to go by Grin

DecemberDiana · 21/12/2020 08:55

My only plan this morning apart from normal chores is that I'm going to light some candles at 10, as according to Google it's the official time of the winter solstice!

Then I'll console myself that the year has turned and the daylight will ( however slowly) start to return.

Theimpossiblegirl · 21/12/2020 08:56

What a haven. May I join?
I'm still in bed with the dog. He's not a morning person and I finished school on Friday so this is a real treat. I will have to get up and make a cup of tea soon.

I'm sorry. It was my Granddad's funeral last week. Really difficult, especially at the moment. Flowers

BrewCake to all joining!

Thanks @DecemberDiana, I’ve sent that to a friend who always struggles this time of year with the darkness.

StCharlotte · 21/12/2020 09:01

Nice thread. Just enjoying a little me-time (tea and MN) before starting work, looking at the foul weather and hugely grateful I don't need to go out. Three more working days to go and then eleven days off. First real break I've had all year and I cannot wait...

DidgeDoolittle · 21/12/2020 09:04

May I join? All those threads last night made me want to stay in bed for a month.
I'm still in bed. I have a mug of tea and a new book. I'm staying here for the foreseeable.

RoseMartha · 21/12/2020 09:04

This thread is lovely.
I am having an indulgent lie in because the dc are unusually still in bed and it is grim weather outside. It is also the first day of my annual leave.

ssd · 21/12/2020 09:04

Lovely thread, thanks @treening

I'm not long up, had tea and toast, about to get a shower soon and face tesco.

Am trying to stay away from the news.

ssd · 21/12/2020 09:07

@TeaBanditTeej, please could you send a waft of that new baby over this thread, theres nothing nicer than the smell of a snuggly milky baby Smile

LooksLikeImStuckHere · 21/12/2020 09:08

I’m pleased about the rain as it’ll clear off the mud that DC happily trampled over the patio yesterday!

I think it’s time for a second cup of tea.

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 21/12/2020 09:09

I've today and tomorrow to work, then am off! All snuggled up in bed here with my laptop, first easy meeting is at 9.30 and people are cancelling meetings all over the place! The house is clean and tidy and I cleared out and listed up the whole freezer on Fri so feeling very accomplished and ready for a snuggley, warm Christmas with my little terrors.
