@Mammyloveswine

Our tree isn't even up yet!!
I'm glad I'm the only one
TeaLibrary · 14/12/2020 23:27

Its weird isn't it. No genuine festive joy to be had anywhere at the moment. It just feels a bit forced. Everyone just going through the motions. I should probably get round to sorting out present wrapping at some point. I think a lot of people just want to hide under the duvet and forget its happening. Covid has meant an awful year for most of us and the lack of things like Carol services / parties / panto / office decorations / has really had an impact on how festive we all feel. It just seems a bit pointless.

Well, it’s been a weird year so Christmas was bound to be no different. My DC’s Christmas performances were recorded and posted on the school website for us to watch. No school Christmas fare is a bonus though, I always feel ripped off by them Grin. Their Christmas cards had to be quarantined in class for a week before they could be handed out. I’m sitting praying we don’t receive a notification asking us to isolate over Christmas. Probably won’t see family over Christmas, may see my Mum because she has covid antibodies and reinfection seems rare so risk is nominal. Our Christmas days out have all been outdoors which isn’t the end of the world by any means but I have missed our annual cinema trip with hot chocolate afterwards.

Still, I’ve bought all of the gifts and the tree looks lovely. Food shopping is ordered for next week too so it’s all good.

grassisjeweled · 15/12/2020 02:11

It's all just too soon

Furries · 15/12/2020 02:38

@JohnMcClane

I know!!!

I mean usually I leave everything too late but this year, with working from home and not having any Christmas festivities I haven't given it a thought.

I keep thinking, if we all feel so low before xmas. God knows how we'll feel in January Me too Sad

Erm, don’t want to piss on your parade, but you need to pull yourself up sharpish - lots of people are going to be relying on you on Christmas Eve.

And make sure your vest gets a good wash before then 🤣

Boymumzy · 15/12/2020 02:39

Hooray!! I'm stupidly excited!

Stepintochristmas2020 · 15/12/2020 06:32

@Dryadia

DH is threatening to leave as I keep playing youtube vids on the TV of wintery villages, choirs, fireplaces burning bright and Christmas light walks from around the world.

Any other ideas how I can torment him?

OHHH, goes off to search for christmas eve services!

Change your alarm tone to a Christmas song. Is that even still possible? Failing that, play a Christmas song first thing every morning.
MrsDThomas · 15/12/2020 09:00

Im trying to feel christmassy but struggling! House is decorated, present wrapped, Heart Christmas music in the car, watching Christmas films. Gonna make some mince pies this afternoon (got the day off). Kids home online doing school/College/uni work. No work party😔

It’s weird.

dingledongmerrilymysky · 15/12/2020 10:28

I generally thought it was on a Saturday .. oops

S0CKS · 15/12/2020 11:00

I know I had this moment yesterday too it's literally next Friday we have ONE weekend to go currently the shops are shit I can't find anything I want I'm not happy with anything I've brought. I've had an odd one I was so organised in the sense of oh I've got eight weeks to go before Christmas I've started shopping nothing more to do at this stage... Now it's somehow next week.

Redcherries · 15/12/2020 11:03

I felt so festive a week or so back but I'm just flat now. I really need to shake this off, I'm usually a celebrate an envelope opening type of person but fading fast.

I might make some mince pies this afternoon, I did make a wreath yesterday and do some wrapping. I think the problem is everything is so uncertain, we're in a high area so likely to cancel the few plans we had as I'm CEV and it feels like all I've done for months is home cook, drink wine and watch films.

justanotherneighinparadise · 15/12/2020 11:07

I said exactly the same thing earlier. How the five of Christmas next Friday?!!!!!!!

justanotherneighinparadise · 15/12/2020 11:07

*how the fuck is....

My phone is politer that I am!

Ffsnosexallowed · 15/12/2020 11:32

So this morning I posted presents and cards. Only a little wrapping to do. This is the first year ever that I'm working Christmas eve, not sure how that will happen....

Dave35 · 15/12/2020 11:42

I don't get the Christmas cards needing quarantined (they spend all day breathing over each other, how the hell is quarantining cards going to help?!?!). We are sending ours in tomorrow (last day of term).
