Great interview with Andrew Marr this morning where he stated lots of Scottish records that were worse than the rest of the UK - Covid 19 deaths in Care Homes for instance and the SNP's policy to level out attainment in schools which has actually got worse! He also played a piece from 2018 where she denied knowing about Alex Salmon's transgressions until April of that year when in fact she has now admitted she know about than 6 month earlier.

So many people are taken in by the cult of NS so I'm hoping this will start a conversation about what their results actually are. Spending all her time giving daily televised briefings doesn't make her good at governing. So I feel she really need calling out and properly questioned.

Sick of the whining.

WouldBeGood · 30/11/2020 19:32

@JayAlfredPrufrock so am I and I live here

MissEliza · 30/11/2020 19:36

I just googled Joanna Cherry. It's awful what she's going through. I can't imagine having to deal with that.

She presents very well but in reality is crap. BJ presents terribly and is terrible

So just throwing free money at people is better than having any usable public services?

Bluebird1234 · 01/12/2020 06:28

NS’s focus on independence during this pandemic is terrible. Her announcements during her party conference on £500 for NHS staff and £100 for poor families are a blatant attempt to buy votes in the upcoming election in May. The country is a mess and the press are ineffective in challenging her.

Gingerkittykat · 01/12/2020 15:37

I'm pro indy and left wing and even I have been shocked by some of the freebies.

Free breakfast and lunch for all primary school kids, including in the holidays. How is that going to work? A £15 voucher in the holidays including for well off families? I'm all for supporting the vulnerable kids out there but this goes too far.

The £500 for health and social care staff seems ill thought out too. The lowest paid who use universal credit to top up wages will have it deducted from their benefits automatically via HMRC reporting it and the highest paid like Drs have secure jobs and a £500 freebie would be much better spent elsewhere.

Lets not even mention the named person bill and reforms to the GRA!

AgeLikeWine · 01/12/2020 15:45

From an English perspective : Would the Scottish people like to swap? They can have Boris, we’ll have Nicola.

Any takers?

Gingerkittykat · 01/12/2020 15:55

Nah, you can keep Boris, in fact him and the other old Etonians in Westminster are a great advert for indy!

WouldBeGood · 01/12/2020 15:58

@AgeLikeWine they’re as bad as each other.

I really really wish for some principled and sensible opposition in both parliaments.

Bikingbear · 01/12/2020 18:18

I'll take Boris in exchange for Nic.

He at least is trying to focus on get the country through tough times and come out the other end.
She is 100% focused on getting independence at any cost regardless of anything.

The only thing she's done better than Boris is accept kids under 12 don't need to stay 2m apart but there again I wonder how many people have actually been convicted of not observing the 2m law in Scotland, in England I believe its guidance rather than law.

user1471565182 · 01/12/2020 20:01

Im more talking about people saying 'university is free' in some sort of answer to people pointing out declining education standards

user1471565182 · 01/12/2020 20:03

Couldnt bring herself to criticise celtic fans when they're literally having a riot in a pandemic and attacking the police.

When was that?
Nicolastuffedone · 02/12/2020 07:46

Can’t bring herself to criticise Alex Salmond either......

curtainsfort · 02/12/2020 07:55

@Corcory

Eilieza That's the problem - people think she's done a good job because she talks the talk. But she's done a crap job and all she's interested in is independence.

This ^

I had to chuckle the other week when she was banging on about how we can only furlough people for so long as the pot of money is finite. She wanted to seek reassurance from the U.K. government that Scotland would be financially propped up at that stage. That should have been a turning point but unfortunately for Scotland the Indy voters can see no wrong in her. They are all ready to come out with their face paints and flags whenever she is ready.

She does talk a good talk, she is a fabulous communicator, and what people are comparing is how she comes across V how Boris comes across. None of them seem to care about the content of the speeches delivered though.

user1471565182 · 02/12/2020 09:28

Yep, how the fuck is she or anybody still defending slimy salmond? They're just a social disaster.

user1471565182 · 02/12/2020 09:31

That was her ridiculous comment on Celtic supporters shenanigans. The whole SNP establishment is scared stiff of criticising anything from that club or its fans (i.e Boys Club)

luckylavender · 02/12/2020 09:33

Well Scotland does have to rely on Westminster for money, that's how the model works. And Alex Salmond was acquitted. She neither supports nor defends him.

GreyishDays · 02/12/2020 09:35

@soloula

Scotland is the sick man of Europe. We have a terrible record on health in general, lots of issue with bad diets and the resultant diabetes and coronary issues so it's no surprise that COVID has taken its toll here when you consider the people who are in the at risk group.
We have years and years of poor health record but more gps and hospital beds than England.

Sorry.

curtainsfort · 02/12/2020 09:55

Exactly. So when she stands up and explains how we will survive as an independent country I will be there to listen. She is a bloody hypocrite through and through. One week it's independence the next week it's hands held out to Rishi Hmm

user1471565182 · 02/12/2020 10:02

Yeah, so was Michael Jackson.

MissEliza · 02/12/2020 13:13

@user1471565182 I looked that up. I don't think there's anything more depressing than continued bitterness between Rangers and Celtic and how it touches so many aspects of society. It's shameful a politician should be afraid to condemn a club for fear of alienating a certain group.

ImNotMeImSomeoneElse · 02/12/2020 13:37

She is a bloody hypocrite through and through. One week it's independence the next week it's hands held out to Rishi

Nothing hypocritical in that - she's doing what she believes to be in the best interests of Scotland. She thinks both of those things are. Some disagree, and that's fine.

Can’t bring herself to criticise Alex Salmond either....

That would be a huge mistake, based on the number of staunch independence supporters that also (bizarrely imo) are in suppose of Salmond. His own defence said his behaviour was inappropriate ffs! How they can defend him is beyond me. But there would be a huge outcry by them if she was to do that. They are vocal enough as it is!
