What are your suggestions? Can be illustrations, or story lines, or messages.

Current favourite is Maybe by Kobi Yamada. Read here:

Miss Happiness and Miss Flower by Rumer Godden. An exquisite masterpiece.

The copy of Alice In Wonderland with Tove Jansson's illustrations is beautiful, just as lovely and strange as you would expect it to be.

I agree with whoever said Lauren Child's books, her illustrations are always quirkily perfect. I used to have her edition of Pippi Longstocking but it was damaged and I haven't been able to replace it.

Flawed by Andrea Dorfman is also beautifully illustrated and has a message about accepting how you look, although I'm not sure it's a children's book as such. There's a lovely animated short film of the same story so you could look at that as well. In fact, definitely watch the film on YouTube, it's lovely. She has another short film called How To Be At Home, based on the poem by Tanya Davis, which is also lovely and talks about how people might have coped while living alone during lockdown.

@SnoopyLights, that version of Alice looks beautiful. My parents collected different illustrators and translations of Alice, but I don’t think we have that!amongst the 200 or so editions!

Animalia - Graeme Base

Each page is one letter of the alphabet and all of the pictures on the page are things that begin with that letter.

I love everything illustrated by Jane Ray I get lost in her vibrant paintings. 'can you catch a mermaid' is one we read a lot. <a class="break-all" href="https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DhJWuY1KLuNs&ved=2ahUKEwjKtca-soDyAhUGhv0HHXylAm4QwqsBegQIDhAF&usg=AOvVaw3zJD7oBF5zCP2caeh5FGVp" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DhJWuY1KLuNs&ved=2ahUKEwjKtca-soDyAhUGhv0HHXylAm4QwqsBegQIDhAF&usg=AOvVaw3zJD7oBF5zCP2caeh5FGVp

Uno’s Garden by Graeme Base is also lovely, really nice message.

All the Shirley Hughes ones. I particularly loved the colours one as a child and my son does too. The inspiration for my username.
