@CoffeeBeansGalore

I personally think it would be nice to get extra points for hard connections, but happy for it to go through a vote 😊.
Surely we don’t need to vote as all the points are imaginary anyway? 🤔

Actually, I propose that any super-hard-connection bonus points should be awarded at the discretion of the poster of the theme.

I’ll do a précis of the super-hard-connection bonus points on offer shortly.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 04/12/2020 10:01

@FlouncingBabooshka Steppenwolf?

death-stare? DEATH-STARE????? I'm frothing so hard here, I'm in danger of drowning

@FlouncingBabooshka I am touchy on spelling, but most touched by the thropy. Theophylline. Trophy.

If you search for heese you do actually get Hesse though

FlouncingBabooshka · 04/12/2020 11:47

Oh, @midgebabe - you’ve got me confused now (I admit, this is easily done these days). Are you saying you mentioned Hesse? I missed that. Sorry. Mind you, the connection, as Coffee says, is Steppenwolf, who were named after Hermann Hesse’s novel.

By the way @CoffeeBeansGalore - how are you getting a connection between O Little Town of Bethlehem, We Three Kings, Good King Wenceslas and Agatha Christie? Was it a wild stab in the dark? That would be appropriate for Agatha Christie but incorrect on the connections. If you’ve managed to come up with a connection then please let me know. For that I reckon you would deserve about 10000 bonus points!

How unsightly...

midgebabe · 04/12/2020 12:05

Didn't mean to confuse, seems just because I think something doesn't mean it magically appears in here . Brian dead I am sometimes !

FlouncingBabooshka · 04/12/2020 12:21

Ah, now I know exactly what you mean - and am able to relate 😂

CoffeeBeansGalore · 04/12/2020 13:40

@FlouncingBabooshka Ok, bit of a stab, bit of knowledge.

Agatha Christie obviously did Murder on the "Orient" express - We three kings of orient are.

She wrote Star over Bethlehem - O little town of Bethlehem

She also wrote The King of Clubs which I linked to Good King Wenceslas, a short story rather than a novel but still literature 😊

So do I get 1000 points? 😁

CoffeeBeansGalore · 04/12/2020 13:44

@midgebabe Sometimes someone will mention (a), my brain goes a, b, c, & comes out with (d) but to anyone else I've gone a to d and without b & c it seems a little random and cue confused face 😄

Wow! I think maybe you do...I mean, it isn’t the connection I had in mind at all but you’ve certainly worked very hard to establish it Grin Do I detect an Agatha Christie buff?

The actual connection I had in mind is far, far simpler than that.

I have to go to bed...

ClearingSpaceOnTheTrophyShelf · 05/12/2020 10:07

Btw, if points, especially extra points and most especially of all LOADS of extra points are being awarded for hard themes, then - ahem - my DH got midge's devilishly difficult theme the other week.

He can't have the points himself as he doesn't have a MN account.

Hmmmm. I wonder which of us he'll award his points to 🤔

The Machiavellian (... add expletive of choice here) strikes again!!

I was just pondering if people prefer easy songs, or ones they have to think about.. ? I think I like an easy one.

This morning's offering..

Goin' back to find myself
I can't live with nobody else
Who's living in the world and not be seen
Goin' back, goin' back right there an' be me

Can anybody help with a 80s song .I think early to mid 80s. It started with a announcement on a tannoy before I think they fly into space. Something like mr Johnson your wife loves you. Then the song starts.

I have had to fight almost every night
Down throughout these centuries
That is when I say, oh yes yet again
80s

CoffeeBeansGalore · 05/12/2020 11:10

Morning All

All 80s

One man on a lonely platform
One case sitting by his side
Two eyes staring cold and silent
Shows fear as he turns to hide

Easy, ready, willing, overtime
Where does it stop
Where do you dare me
To draw the line…

I know there's something in the wake of your smile
I get a notion from the look in your eyes, yeah
You've built a love but that love falls apart
Your little piece of Heaven turns too dark

Easy, ready, willing, overtime

To draw the line…

Coffee, that's Hall & Oates, I can't go for that

CoffeeBeansGalore · 05/12/2020 12:17

Fleamaker123 · 05/12/2020 12:27

I don't need a crowded ballroom

90's

Honeyroar · 05/12/2020 12:57

@CoffeeBeansGalore the platform one is Visage, Fade to grey. Devenir en gris!

First one visage, fade to grey.

Second one I can't go for that. Don't know who sang

Can't think what the 3rd one is

Honeyroar · 05/12/2020 12:58

The draw the line one is Hall and Oates. Can’t go for that.
