I've obviously spent too much time looking at houses I can't afford, as my Facebook keeps suggesting more. Here's a couple of beautiful ones I definitely can't afford!

The castle is near us - I think the owner is having to sell becasue of some embezzlement issues!

MrsMoastyToasty · 04/11/2020 16:47

Why have a single house when you can have a whole hamlet?

Its up for auction as an unfinished development. Pity its next to one of the busiest roads into Bristol from Bath.

If anyone wants to see what a genuine Versace designed property looks like I offer you this one - a one bed flat near Waterloo for a bit over £1m

Theyaremyforeverx · 04/11/2020 16:52

Each of them are both individually stunning! Woow Shock

Cloud21 · 05/11/2020 16:26

OP, a male friend of mine flew to that first property you linked to and viewed it pre-Covid without his wife’s knowledge with the intention of buying it as their weekend pad!!

Standrewsschool · 05/11/2020 20:04

Love the Footballers pad, and the ‘too expensive to heat’ house above.

I read recently that St George’s Hill in Surrey is the most expensive village in the UK.

A couple to tempt you.

mansion 1

house no 2

The second one has been on the market for over a year, so there may be a deal to be had... .

Standrewsschool · 05/11/2020 20:06

seaside pad

Sandbanks

Lelophants · 05/11/2020 20:36

I'll have the castle!

The second one is ridiculous (as is the price). I wonder which celeb has moved out?

Standrewsschool · 05/11/2020 20:43

@lelophants

Or a Russian Oligarch!

KedsAndTubeSocks · 05/11/2020 21:17

16 million for 5 bedrooms! Surely it should have at least 16 bedrooms!

I'm interested in the gossip @diplodocusinermine - tell all!

@cardswapping I've stayed in a similar castle (not mine, obv) and the wifi was terrible - it couldn't get through the 6' stone walls. And it was really annoying when you realised you'd left your purse/phone/whatever in your bedroom and wanted to go out - there were far too many stairs!

OP posts:
ThatDamnScientist · 05/11/2020 21:23

The second one...WOW! That may actually be my dream home!

The first does nothing for me at all. In fact, it is awful!

cardswapping · 05/11/2020 21:28

Poor wi-fi kills it for the relocating Londoner!

somelemons · 05/11/2020 21:39

A castle eh?

I'll have it Grin

DanFmDorking · 05/11/2020 22:21

In need of full renovation.

diplodocusinermine · 06/11/2020 09:05

@KedsAndTubeSocks

For your Friday morning coffee break - he's a real charmer!

KedsAndTubeSocks · 06/11/2020 15:15

@diplodocusinermine - aah, stealing from a charity, always a popular move!

midsomermurderess · 06/11/2020 17:04

Tranent, which is near the OP's first link, is a bit of a dump to be fair.

wellthatsunusual · 06/11/2020 17:12

Some of those are objectively amazing houses - beautiful views, nice style of building, lovely big rooms. But why are huge houses usually so soulless?

diplodocusinermine · 06/11/2020 17:46

wellthatsunusual, it's stange, isn't it. I think sometimes it's because the houses are so big, with space that is, quite frankly, underutilised by the small family who live there, that if money's no object they'll use an interior designer to furnish the place in one fell swoop. This generally means the house doesn't grow organically with the people living in it, they don't buy art and books and furniture 'as and when' they see pieces they like (or even can afford). Everything's just THERE in today's style - that kind of interior is going to date rally quickly too.

If I had oodles of cash and didn't want to decorate my house myself, I'd have someone like Ben Pentreath do it. I think he did Anmer Hall for the Cambridges though so quite possibly outside my budget Grin.

Deathraystare · 08/11/2020 11:26

Well, little old me would be rattling around in those Weybridge homes! I only live in one room at the moment. Mind you I would still fill them up!

AcornsTrustee · 09/11/2020 16:07

I’ve always wanted a quintessential country cottage and this gorgeous one in Oxfordshire would definitely fit the bill! Drool.

AcornsTrustee · 10/11/2020 13:31

Bump.
Any more stunning abodes out there?

AhoyMeFarties · 10/11/2020 13:45

I'll fight you for it @AcornTrustee that is gorgeous

AcornsTrustee · 10/11/2020 18:20

Pistols at dawn? @AhoyMeFarties

It’s lush though, isn’t it. Did you look at the drone fly-over bit? Wow.

Beautiful, but not enough land. Where would I put my string of polo ponies while I had dinner with Rupert Campbell-Black?!
