How much do you pay attention to / remember usernames?

Just that, really.

I definitely have a few names that I recognise when I see them, but not enough to remember how/in what context I've encountered them before.

I've noticed recently a few people namechecking other posters: "So-and-so will be along in a minute to say X" or "Such-and-such usually has a good idea of things like that".

There seem to be so many posters here, I'm amazed at how some people seem to keep track, not just of familiar names but of personalities, too.

Do you?

It was interesting on a thread about balloons, someone posted a link to another from about 4 years ago and it was funny to see familiar names that were gone. Some of them not missed

I name change loads and don't really notice posts unless they annoy me.

Some new names that are very aggressive, almost like their pissing on the furniture

And one who's posting style all SmileSmile and striking through and you just know it's her before you look at the name

I do feel happy to see names that I have met though

@chrislilleyswig
Meeting mn’ers YES !
Didn’t everyone circa 2004 ish ( of which there were few mn’ers at the time ) arrange to meet in London around Christmas time and book a table in a restaurant ?
People came from far flung places to meet up
I never did , I was shy and introvert at the time

I recognise a few names similar to those on this thread but in general, no, I don't remember usernames.

I did have to change name once as another mn user started following me to every thread I was on and made nasty comments.
