A thread to moan about neighbours who don't merit a whole thread to themselves

Here's my moan. Bin day is Thursday and it alternates between recycling and rubbish. Yesterday was recycling. In our recycling bins, we can put cans, glass, cartons, plastic trays and bottles. We cannot put in paper/card (separate container for that) or polystyrene.

My neighbours put their bin out and I could see some polystyrene sticking out the top and the bin men didn't take it. Any normal person would surely find out why their bin hadn't been taken and sort out the stuff that shouldn't have been in there, surely (well most people who have lived in the same area for as long as they have already know what the rules are but anyway). Not these people. What they did was pile even more stuff on top of the already full bin so now the lid doesn't shut and push it right out onto the pavement.

Tomorrow we are forecast 45mph winds and we live at the top of a hill.
I can predict exactly what is going to happen to the contents of their bin. Angry

Why do you hate your neighbours today?

Mine have two dogs who seem to live permanently in the garden, poor things. They don't bark constantly, but it's intermittent, so we can't have the windows open in summer. Our outdoor tap is low down next to the fence, so every single time I bend down to turn it on they go berserk yapping directly into my ear.

Oh, and they have a karaoke obsession and have been singing the same two show tunes pretty much every evening since March. I've had to buy a white noise machine.

0blio · 30/10/2020 19:16

Mine have leaned a tall piece of wood against the fence and I really want to push it so it falls down but that seems so petty. No idea why it annoys me so much.

Allington · 30/10/2020 19:23

A number of years ago - you can work it out by the song I name - I had a neighbour one side that played 'You're Gorgeous' on repeat, and another on the other side that had frequent very noisy sex.

I was never sure which was worse.

justanotherneighinparadise · 30/10/2020 19:27

Mine are house fuckers, they won’t leave the bloody thing alone. Constantly doing some very loud project. Lorries turning up with goods and vehicles they’ve hired so my driveway is blocked. I can’t stand them.

PathOfLeastResitance · 30/10/2020 19:27

Mine have one of those roller-pick-up-dust-thingys like my Nan used to have and roller it over their wooden floors every Saturday morning. The noise and regularity of it drive me mad. Totally irrational but hey ho.

Sallycinnamum · 30/10/2020 19:29

Our lovely neighbours moved in June after living next to them for 8 years.

Our new neighbours are nice and we don't hear a peep out of them all day but bang on 8pm every night the two kids run up and down the lounge screaming and shouting. It drives me crackers!

I don't want to say anything to them as it seems so petty and we're currently having building work done which is pretty noisy too.

Plus they cut down all the lilac shrubs and trees in their garden, which they had every right to do but gave us some much needed screening. Grrrrr.

nancy75 · 30/10/2020 19:29

Mine think they are porn stars & like to make as much shagging noise as possible with all their windows open. Their house is the middle of a terrace with kids either side & opposite.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 30/10/2020 19:32

Mine mow every week, even in winter, taking the entire day. Doesn't matter if it's raining or not. It is very wearing to listen to a mower go all day long.

Westfacing · 30/10/2020 19:33

Not near neighbours but for the past two nights, fireworks going off somewhere! Just why?

madcatladyforever · 30/10/2020 19:33

I lived in a lovely silent cul de sac in the countryside, at last no bloody screeching kids on their sodding trampolines 24 hours a day.
Everyone my age 50 and older, heaven after years of inconsiderate shit head noisy neighbours.
Now an elderly couple have moved in next door to the empty house with two rats (jack russells) which bark 24 fucking hours a day.
Its not the dogs fault they have zero training but I want to go round there and have at the couple with a baseball bat for disturbing my peace.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 30/10/2020 19:35

Ours never bring our bins in. I regularly take theirs out and bring them in as it's a neighbourly thing to do.

They were burgled last week and asked to see our Ring footage, all fine, anything to help out a neighbour. But nothing showed on the Ring because of dead zones. So I told her were investing in more Ring cameras so a greater area would be covered for the future. Asked her permission re locations (would be going over a shared area). She was fine with it. But still didn't bring in our bins the following day when I'd put hers out in morning, oh no, just their own.Grin

DollyMixtureLulus · 30/10/2020 19:37

Mine goes to work at 6.30 am which they obviously can't help, but they could definitely not bang the door, whistle in the close, bang the front door and then bang all their car doors as well.

CatrinVennastin · 30/10/2020 19:42

We have on street parking and my neighbour has a massive extra tall white van which he parks right outside out house even if there's space outside his house.

I just hate it because I can't see what's going on in the street!

I also don't like my neighbour over the back's new fence. It is made of bright orange decking boards and looks rubbish.

Qwenzo · 30/10/2020 19:43

Mine hates our cat (feeling is mutual tbf) so glares at him whenever he’s prowling about. Cat doesn’t care but I hate seeing him being glared at!

Down the street neighbours mow the lawn at 11pm, other next door neighbour washes his car at 11pm (not actually disturbing me but wtf).

QueenOfCatan · 30/10/2020 19:43

Mine has installed a weird noise to his car so every time he touches the accelerator it makes this noise, I can't even describe it, it's like a high pitched whoosh noise if anything. Annoying.
His partner gets noisy during sex, they have a toddler who visits grandma so this is often during the middle of the day.

SingingSands · 30/10/2020 19:44

Just found out this week that ours have been using our wifi for their kids devices. Have now blocked them, but WTF?!

DianaT1969 · 30/10/2020 19:57

I genuinely have lots of lovely neighbours. Just wanted to give a positive post 👍

chrislilleyswig · 30/10/2020 20:04

Mine have put a trellis up bit used my bush to train up and between the slats.

Which means when I prune it I might seem petty.

Both sides parked right up to my driveway and the people opposite parked on the road. I had to do a 846 point turn to get off the drive.

Gncq · 30/10/2020 20:06

Shock don't delay! Push today! It could wreck havoc on the fence and could all end up in your garden.

WingingIt101 · 30/10/2020 20:20

Mine leave their back door open when the weather is nice - not an issue in itself, but more challenging when they then insist on cooking meat and leaving it out and unattended on the side so that the neighbourhood cats, including ours, go in and help themselves to it. They then complain that the cats are eating the meat but do nothing about it.

The same woman ran toward me at the height of lockdown whilst I had my then 4 week old baby in my arms as I left the house, screeching “ooh I must have a cuddle with the new baby!” Stop screeching, the baby is sleeping, we barely know you so even without Covid I wouldn’t have you hold my baby, oh and there’s a pandemic happening. To make it worse, she’s a nurse so you’d think would be fairly familiar with distancing.

Plus she drives terribly and her husband has a generally rude air about him.

SlopesOff · 30/10/2020 20:25

One of our neighbours lets the toilet seat or lid slam down every time they use it. I would like to rip it off and put it round their neck.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 30/10/2020 20:25

@QueenOfCatan is it an electric car? They make a whiny/whoosh noise.

ILoveYoga · 30/10/2020 20:28

Not my neighbour but someone I was friendly with.

She didn’t like her neighbours, so she put up wind chimes at various places in her garden and also on a hook right outside neighbours windows (she lives in a semi). She also has innumerable amount of clocks that make various sounds on the hour, quarter and half hour. Mayhem. She has them in the shared wall.

She’s just rented her house out and I’m sure the entire street is so relieved as she does many, many things.
