Oliver or Hugo?

Baby due next week and can’t decide. The popularity of Oliver isn’t an issue so doesn’t need to be mentioned. Simply.... which is a nicer sounding name?

Hugo

forfoxsakee · 22/10/2020 07:43

But please don't use it as I'm saving it for any future sons of mine and I'm praying it doesn't become Uber popular before then Wink

Oliver.

Round here the name Hugo belongs to the stable of names like Tarquin or Marmeduke Grin

Hugo is a horrible wet posh name. Oliver.

Grin I was trying to be polite in my post, but yes it is.
ExclamationPerfume · 22/10/2020 08:21

Hugo sounds like one of Boris's posh mates.

Oliver is more normal sounding but I am not very keen on it.

Thuglife · 22/10/2020 10:59

Oliver definitely. My daughter’s school is awash with Hugos & similar. School pick up is all “Hugo Darling” “Jonty Darling “.
I don’t know why it grinds my gears because it’s nothing to do with me Grin.

Joystir do you also describe names as chavvy or common?

joystir59 · 22/10/2020 17:20

I'm too old for "chavvy" and too young for "common" Grin but, I would describe names such as Chardonnay, for example, as hideous

LaPoesieEstDansLaRue · 22/10/2020 17:58

I love Oliver but don't like Hugo. But seems like I may be in a minority.

Anotherducker · 22/10/2020 18:08
