The best hot chocolate

I would like to know what hot chocolate you drink at home. My favourite is Costa hot chocolate, but unfortunately I cannot make it at home, and they don’t seem to make any pods for a tassimo machine to help my craving.
What do you recommend?
Oh and I probably should mention I don’t like the instant Cadbury hot chocolate. The galaxy one is okay but doesn’t compare to Costa. Thank you.

If you’re ever near a Paul Boulangerie you’ll find your answer 😁 it’s unbelievably thick and creamy and basically tastes like a cup of warm melted luxury chocolate drool

Monbana hot chocolate. Pure indulgence. It's proper European hot chocolate. I add a sugar cube even though it's already got a bit of sugar in it. Rich and satisfying.

Spanish Chocolate or the Irish one - Butlers.

Both delicious.

Simon Coll Spanish Hot Chocolate got some off Amazon for the kids stockings

Nope nope nope
They're all wrong!
I've tried many of these and many of them taste really artificial or too sugary.
If you want a well priced everyday type of hot chocolate you can't beat the marks and Spencer one. So chocolately.
Green and blacks is shite.

chocolatespiders · 20/10/2020 22:40

Jamie oliver epic hot choc. We make it up and store in jars to use as required.

TheyCallMeJustice · 20/10/2020 22:41

Green and Black's or Whittards.

Wafflehouse · 20/10/2020 22:48

Yes, Jamie’s epic hot chocolate is one I make for Christmas as a treat, day to day we use a Lidl one and it’s nicer than most other supermarket ones. I use slightly less cornflour than he says in the recipe and only make small cups of it because it is very rich but it’s great to make and keep in a jar in the cupboard.

@kayakingmum

I've gone off Green and Blacks because they are marketed as ethical, but aren't (owned by Kraft and use Palm Oil).

Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Dark hot chocolate is tastier IMO.

Buggeration.
KihoBebiluPute · 20/10/2020 23:03

You can't make a good hot chocolate from a powder. Use real chocolate, grated, with hot creamy milk. More chocolate than you think.

ScrambledSmegs · 21/10/2020 09:57

My favourite is the Hotel Chocolat 85% one, I have a thing for dark, rich and bitter chocolate with a hint of sweetness. Obviously that's not to everyone's taste though. My DD swears the Salted Caramel one is the best ever and she's a bit of a hot chocolate connoisseur (as much as a 10yo can be) so I'd try that if you can bear the price!

These. www.lickthespoon.co.uk/product-category/lickable-spoons/

To go to bed with a mug of this is pure joy.

DonttouchthatLarry · 25/10/2020 01:42

Twinings - not as sweet as Cadbury's. Originally found it in the Aldi aisle of dreams but then discovered Asda stock it.

Or even better is Ghirardelli Chocolate sauce with hot frothed milk.
