Could this be early labour?

Does this sound like it could be early labour?

I'm 40+5 with first baby and have been having Braxton Hicks and period pain like cramps for weeks. Late last night these were getting stronger and from around 3am I've been waking up every 20 minutes or so with sharp pains around my hips and lower back that last about 20-40 seconds. They feel a bit like I'm being squeezed really tightly and are painful enough to seriously hurt but manageable with a hot water bottle, hypno breathing and some paras so far.

Could this be it? Pains are getting stronger.

Good luck op. Try not to dwell on the water or pethidine just imagine a happy place and concentrate on you breathing. Walk around if you can, let gravity help you both. Xx

ohidoliketobe · 16/10/2020 14:08

Good luck op! As other posters have said plenty of movement. I remember doing a crazy little side to side, almost running on the spot wriggle during contractions in my first labour! It seemed to help

MrsWhites · 16/10/2020 14:19

Good luck OP! I hope things move along quickly for you, definitely try and stay active. I said it before but a birthing ball was my absolute saviour, do they have them on the labour ward for you?

Good luck OP!! I keep checking to see how your going Haha, I'm so jealous! Your so close! Xx

ScarMatty · 16/10/2020 19:53

Good luck OP!

Like others have said, sometimes the pain is really ramped up straight away.

I have a scarily high pain threshold, but at 2cm I was begging for an epidural.

Everyone is so very different.

All the best! Thanks
