Do you think there is an afterlife?

I find this so interesting.

I don’t know if I believe in it or not. I’d love it to be real.

Do you think that we have spirits inside us that are released and just float around when we pass on?

Interested in everyone’s thoughts.

I don't but I wish I did. We just go back into the earth. No soul, no fancy heaven or hell set up. Just energy again.

DioneTheDiabolist · 14/10/2020 00:45

No and those who do believe are going to be awfully disappointed.
How are they going to be disappointed?Confused

Some of us have been blessed/cursed with memories of where we were before. It really doesn’t matter whether you believe or not. You are here in this moment, with your own beliefs, for a reason. I say “cursed” because it’s hard to be here if you have an inkling of where you are going, so we are required to forget. You are energy and energy can neither be created nor destroyed. Just enjoy the adventure.

safariboot · 14/10/2020 00:53

No.

And doesn't that prospect scare a lot of people.

TheClitterati · 14/10/2020 00:59

Only in the sense that the dead live on in the memories of those who knew them.

So no - I don't believe in any form of afterlife.

I think there are so many unknowns in this universe that anything is possible. I believe that our soul is mad if some form of electrical energy And when we die it goes somewhere that we don’t yet know. I don’t know if afterlife’s are conscious etc. but the energy from us must go somewhere!

kattyboomboom · 14/10/2020 01:01

No, I don't think it's very feasible. People always romanticise human existence but we're clearly monkeys who have evolved.

Anordinarymum · 14/10/2020 01:06

I think when you lose someone dear to you, you clutch at anything to believe there is something else apart from 'just this'

LaraLuce · 14/10/2020 01:07

Yes.

I never used to, but I found came across a video online by Harold Puthoff about remote viewing and the Stargate Program. The scientific evidence was quite convincing, so I tried remote viewing and found, to my astonishment, that it worked.

Another thing that influenced me was learning about the double slit experiment, quantum physics, and how consciousness interacts with physical matter.

I now truly believe that our consciousness is not limited to one body.

Liddell · 14/10/2020 01:13

No, it doesn't make any sense to me that we live on in any form after death.

bettsbattenburg · 14/10/2020 01:15

No. You are dead and don't exist any more. That's why grieving is so hard. You don't see the changing of the seasons, time marches on, people go on with their lives and never give you a thought, it's a fleeting time on this earth and then you are gone and might as well never have been here for all most people are aware of your passing. You become some ash or dust and fade into the oblivion.

Iseethesilverlining · 14/10/2020 01:16

Yes, 100%. I believe there is a heaven, and that God has prepared a place for those who follow him. If anyone is interested in some good academic exploration on the subject, I recommend the book Heaven by Paula Gooder. She looks at all the different beliefs in life after death, really fascinating.

YorkshirePud1 · 14/10/2020 01:25

@loubieloo4 I'm so sorry about your husband

mrssunshinexxx · 14/10/2020 01:26

@albustydumbledore do you mind mr asking why you are so sure ? X

kattyboomboom · 14/10/2020 01:45

Some of us have been blessed/cursed with memories of where we were before. It really doesn’t matter whether you believe or not.

But why do they all claim to have been Henry VIII and not some unknown coal miner/peasant? 🤔

brushandmop · 14/10/2020 02:16

A friend of mine has a theory that being here now is actually our hell and that we must learn from our mistakes in this life to have a better afterlife.

She explains it better than me.

I hope there is an afterlife but I'm glad we don't know.

DioneTheDiabolist · 14/10/2020 02:28

Yes, I do believe in an afterlife and consider myself fortunate to have this belief.Smile

kattyboomboom · 14/10/2020 03:43

I think the concept of an afterlife stems from mankind's ego. I struggle with it tbh when I start to ask questions like 'when did the afterlife start? Was it around before humans were?'

IHateCoronavirus · 14/10/2020 03:57

I do, I can’t explain why I just do.

WinWinnieTheWay · 14/10/2020 03:59

I do believe that we will be with God.

Anordinarymum · 14/10/2020 04:06

@loubieloo4

I hope so, I cannot even think about, never seeing dh once he dies. Which sadly will be sooner rather than later as he has terminal stage 4 cancer and has already outlived his life expectancy.not something I thought I would need to worry about at 40, dh was diagnosed at 39 last year and given 12 months to live.

I find the idea comforting that he will be keeping a close eye on me and the children and that eventually I will see him again.

Ah.. so sad to read this. I hope he will look after you too x
user127819 · 14/10/2020 04:14

Yes. I'm a Christian so I do believe there is a heaven for those who have chosen to trust in Jesus.

Hatscats · 14/10/2020 04:18

No. You go back into the earth and atmosphere as carbon, oxygen, etc.
Repurposed! Fine with that 😂
