Do you think there is an afterlife?

I find this so interesting.

I don’t know if I believe in it or not. I’d love it to be real.

Do you think that we have spirits inside us that are released and just float around when we pass on?

Interested in everyone’s thoughts.

No. Death is the end, there is nothing else.

You do however live in people’s memories and in your legacy.

Titsinknicks · 13/10/2020 23:23

Nope. When you're dead you're dead. Memories of you live on for those who remember you but only until they die too. There is no meaning to life. So give your own life meaning.

I'd like to think so.

albustydumbledore · 13/10/2020 23:27

I 100% believe there's an afterlife.

Iamthewombat · 13/10/2020 23:29

Yes, I believe that there is an afterlife.

No, I don’t believe that our spirits are released and ‘just float around’. Float around where? I hope there are none in the room with me now.

lljkk · 13/10/2020 23:30

oh ffs, as if one life wasn't exhausting enough!

Very good book (young adult fiction) which touches on the topic of tiresome immortality.

GoldenPlover · 13/10/2020 23:31

No, I don't.

EveryPlanetHasAYorkshire · 13/10/2020 23:32

Nope.

EdithHope · 13/10/2020 23:32

No, there is no after life. There are no "spirits inside us that are released and just float around". Your consciousness (your spirit?) stops when your body stops.

user128472578267 · 13/10/2020 23:32

Nope. Just like the daffodils and ants in my garden don't have an afterlife.

It's a comforting fantasy to help people cope with their mortality. Our lives are meaningless.

LeaveMyDamnJam · 13/10/2020 23:38

No when you die it is just like before you were born. There is nothing to fear.

LeaveMyDamnJam · 13/10/2020 23:40

I don’t get why anyone would want an afterlife. An eternity of never ending ceaseless god knows what? That sounds like hell to me.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 13/10/2020 23:42

No. There's no soul. Once the electrical impulses stop, you cease to be in every way.

ClinkyMonkey · 13/10/2020 23:44

No. We aren't that important!

jessyjo2 · 13/10/2020 23:57

Yes definitely is. Im a Christian and 100% confident of where im going. Heaven will b so much better than anyone can imagine.
This is the most important decision of your life.

Natsel84 · 14/10/2020 00:01

I believe in the afterlife. They better have a glass of wine waiting for me when I get there too . Or bottle

AgeLikeWine · 14/10/2020 00:03

No.

When you die, that’s it. You cease to exist. There is no soul, no spirit, no heaven, no hell. Nothing. You live on only in the memories of the people who knew you.

GCITC · 14/10/2020 00:04

I do, but I don't believe in God. Rationally I think death is death but I do still hold the belief that there's something more. I only realised how weird a position this is a couple of years ago.

YorkshirePud1 · 14/10/2020 00:07

I wish I did believe in an afterlife, it must be really comforting to have such a strong belief. Death terrifies me.

AuntieMarys · 14/10/2020 00:13

No. Thats it. Dead and gone. I'd hate the thought of an afterlife.

RunningFromInsanity · 14/10/2020 00:17

I believe that what you believe is true.

If you believe dead is dead, then you die.

If you believe in heaven, like I do, then you will go to heaven.
My idea of heaven is individual to me. So I will see my beloved family and pets again. I’m not sure it will be a physical place, or just all our souls reunited.
Either way, I’m not afraid of death because it is not the end for me.

cuddlymunchkin · 14/10/2020 00:17

Yes I do. I believe there is a God and that we continue in a new form.

loubieloo4 · 14/10/2020 00:37

I hope so, I cannot even think about, never seeing dh once he dies. Which sadly will be sooner rather than later as he has terminal stage 4 cancer and has already outlived his life expectancy.not something I thought I would need to worry about at 40, dh was diagnosed at 39 last year and given 12 months to live.

I find the idea comforting that he will be keeping a close eye on me and the children and that eventually I will see him again.

Crankley · 14/10/2020 00:40

No and those who do believe are going to be awfully disappointed.
