Would be glad of some company and the odd pep talk, if anyone would like to join me.

DH has done two days now, which is a lot for him. Day three tonight.

Dugee · 07/10/2020 17:23

Well done @Gotthetshirt23 and @Mooey89 DP Smile

Dugee · 07/10/2020 17:26

You probably already know this @Mooey89 but has he got a list of distractions ready? I spent Sunday adding loads of dramas and films to my sky and Netflix accounts (there have been a couple of suggestions threads on here recently), so when drinking nights (Friday and Saturday for us) arrive, we've got a list of things to do instead. Also something nice but non alcoholic to drink, either nice fizzy drinks, or alcohol free beers, maybe?

TazMac · 07/10/2020 17:32

@Mooey89

If he drinks every night then he’s probably going to get sugar withdrawals, now he’s stopped and he may confuse those fir alcohol cravings. As Dugee says, might be a good idea to have some sugary drinks or sweets in the house.

I’m doing it too for a reset. I’m pretty chuffed I’ve got this far tbh and tonight has been one hell of a stressful day. But I’m about to go for a walk to distract from “that time of the evening”.

TazMac · 07/10/2020 17:33

@Wildernesstips

A walk is a good idea, hopefully you’ll come back feeling too healthy and virtuous to want to drink.

Thank you! We have haribo in and we did the dog walk together earlier. He’s very reserved so my worry is he won’t say if he’s struggling but I’m trying to make sure we’re doing something together each evening you know? You guys are doing amazing 🥰

Wildernesstips · 07/10/2020 19:47

Thanks, that walk definitely got me past the point of wanting it, and then I poured the rest of my wine (pretty off now anyway) into a pie I was making so temptation now completely removed 😄!

Dugee · 07/10/2020 20:21

I just finished off out Tesco shop. No wine but some posh hot chocolate to look forward to this weekend.

TazMac · 07/10/2020 20:29

Well done on the walks, it seems to be quite cold now. Opening the window while hoovering was enough for me.

Thank you @Dugee

It's been quite easy so far , I was hoping for a wonderful amount of sleep which hasn't happened but my rbp is around the mid sixties for August and September, yesterday and today it's 56 !
I'm also trying to eat healthily/ fasting and exercising a lot so it may not just be the lack of alcohol?

TazMac · 10/10/2020 17:59

How’s everyone doing tonight? Saturday nights are my danger zone but we’re having pizza tonight, so looking forward to that and a binge watch instead.

Wildernesstips · 10/10/2020 18:18

Yes, Saturdays are a bit of a trigger and I thought about wine earlier. But now I’m with tonic instead so all good 😄!

Great to have a check in.

SpanishFly · 10/10/2020 18:49

I did Stoptember, and 0% Heineken and 0% prosecco really helped a lot

Dugee · 11/10/2020 08:10

Up bright and early, hangover free. I had two massive mugs of posh hot chocolate last night and was asleep by half ten. Feeling great this morning, breakfast, a few chores and then we're going out for a long walk.

Dugee · 11/10/2020 08:11

Thanks @SpanishFly. Can you recommend a good brand of alcohol free Prosecco?

TazMac · 11/10/2020 08:14

Mmm, hot chocolate sounds good. I stuck with san pellegrino orange, in a glass with ice. I like @Wildernesstips idea of straight tonic though, perhaps with ice and slices of lime.

Tonic with a dash of elderflower cordial tastes just like a G&T. Actually more so than the 0% gin alternative.

@Dugee Nosecco is good, as is Be Free. Both from Asda, Sainsburys etc. My favourite is Freixenet rose. None of them taste like the real thing but chilled and in a flute, they're good for fooling your brain just enough. I even quite like a glass of Eisberg, but it tastes more like apple juice than wine

I had a 0% kopparberg mixed fruits last night. Oh, it was lovely!!!

@Gotthetshirt23

Re the sleep. It depends how often you’ve been drinking. When I used to drink every night, if I gave up, I’d have about a week of restless sleep before I got to the point of having really good, refreshing sleep.

Thanks, I'll have a look in Tesco.

SpanishFly · 11/10/2020 20:13

Oh! And the Robinsons mint and lime cordial in soda water tastes very like a mojito. I have it over ice with a sprig of mint in it

Dugee · 11/10/2020 22:49

Mint and lime cordial sounds really nice, I'll look out for it.

Autumngoldleaf · 11/10/2020 22:57

Me too, also 7 days in.

I tried some alcohol free stuff, non mentioned here and it was un drinkable.
I'm interested in the nosecco!

Good luck everyone stay strong

TazMac · 12/10/2020 10:44

Yes, I’m going to stock up and taste test these suggestions this weekend. Thanks everyone!
