Moussaka (hairy bikers recipe) and mixed salad leaves. Takes forever to make so I make them two at a time and freeze one. This was the frozen one so defrosted overnight then baked in the oven.

GnomeDePlume · 26/09/2020 20:25

@AstiniMartini what are grits please?

burglarbettybaby · 26/09/2020 20:27

Was had roast chicken but we have our dinner earlier (at lunchtime)

AstiniMartini · 26/09/2020 20:33

Well that is a question *Gnom^!

I think they are a bit like polenta. I have hjad them sweet like porridge (I think - my memories are hazy) when In Atlanat about 15 years ago.

www.healthline.com/nutrition/grits

It is one of those dishes I keep seeing on Diner Drive Ins And dvies and want to recreate

AstiniMartini · 26/09/2020 20:34

AstiniMartini · 26/09/2020 20:34

@AstiniMartini that sounds painful, I hope it gets better soon.

I looked at the link to grits and I'm not sold!

PivotPivott · 27/09/2020 08:26

We have a roast. I do it for around 12/1 though and we have something lighter in the evening

Frownette · 27/09/2020 08:30

I was thinking about doing seafood udon noodles, though might have fish, potatoes and vegetables instead.

AstiniMartini · 27/09/2020 08:39

Thanks Gnome :)

badlydrawnbear · 27/09/2020 08:47

Smoky bean stew. This is one of the vegan recipes everyone prefers (DH is vegan, DC and I are not).

canigohomenow · 27/09/2020 16:11

Meatball Linguine but DH will have prawns, Garlic flatbread and a side salad.

Had a sickener of shit food recently so back to basics and proper meals and hopefully back down to my pre-lockdown weight!

1questionshootout · 27/09/2020 16:28

I’ve tried grits in Murrica. I have no desire to repeat the experience.

I have ?M&S runny scotch eggs and sticky toffee pudding. Do I need more?

maddiemookins16mum · 27/09/2020 16:32

We’ve just had a fabulous Cottage pie with cauliflower, Savoy cabbage and broccoli. There’s a ginger steamed pudding in the slow cooker to have about 7pm with custard.

Whathappenedtothelego · 27/09/2020 16:36

Going retro with toad in the hole, roast potatoes, onion gravy, cabbage, peas and carrots.

Plan was for apple and apricot crumble afterwards, but we actually ended up having it at lunch time in an attempt to spread out the stodge.

UsernameTaken76 · 27/09/2020 16:38

We made the roast chicken margherita from the new Jamie cook book it was delish. Hit the roast spot without being too heavy. Have got a pear & chocolate flapjack crumble in the oven now.

AstiniMartini · 27/09/2020 16:40

toad in the hole sounds great.

we have vegetable korma

I am shamelessly taking ideas for this week as I am fed up with cooking and need inpsiration.

mbosnz · 27/09/2020 17:57

Roast lamb, with creamy garlic mashed potato, roasted pumpkin, kumara and parsnip, carrots, broccoli, leeks, brussies, beans, and asparagrass, followed by sticky date toffee puddings with a shitload of cream.

I can't bloody wait.

CakeGirl2020 · 27/09/2020 17:58

Harrisa lamb, rosemary potatoes and tender stem broccoli here tonight

We’re waiting on a Chinese arriving. I normally do a roast dinner and my dad comes round, but he’s in hospital and it’s all a bit hectic, so it’s takeaway tonight.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 27/09/2020 18:11

Roast dinner. Although by mumsnet standards its probably only "nearly a roast."
