The Prodigy

Last night after all the chores were done I sat down and watched the Prodigy live set at Glastonbury 2009... They just don't make bands or music like this anymore. Pre children I was lucky enough to see them 3 times at V festival and Milton Keynes Bowl. Anyone else a fan? Can't stand the tripe on radio these days.

I saw them live in Cardiff, must have been about 13 years ago. They were amazing

Puppy72 · 10/09/2020 13:41

I think my top three Prodigy songs are:

 1. Breathe
 2. Firestarter
 3. No good (Start the dance)

Out of space is also a very close contender for top three.

I love them! No Good changed my life. Saw them in the early 90s then most recently a few months before Keith died. The place was full of middle aged ravers all off their heads Grin

@carinaclaws haha that's what I'd fear I'd be like now, I know my dd would be so embarrassed of me 😂😜

It was amazing! I had to resist the urge to dust off my whistle and glowsticks!
Hedonism is hard to come by at my age never mind in the current climate. I miss it. The 90s were something else...

PlinkPlink · 10/09/2020 13:55

I'm so gutted I never got to see them. I spent the majority of my 20s with someone who constantly dissuaded me from experiencing life to the max.

When Keith passed I was just heartbroken. I've been listening to The Prodigy since I was 6?

I've loved all their albums. Their early sound is so different to their latest stuff but I still loved it all.

I don't think they'll ever find someone to replace Keith Flint. One of a kind 😔

SchmooobyDoo · 10/09/2020 14:04

Saw them in ‘95, headlining a festival. Brilliant. It was a who’s who of 90s acts, from dance to Britpop to grunge. Great times!

HollyHocks13 · 10/09/2020 14:07

I saw them in 95 or 96 - climbed up on stage and danced with them until I was carried off! They were amazing.

TheCrowFromBelow · 10/09/2020 14:09

@squatbetty me too! Thank god for Keith in the ball as otherwise i wouldnt really remember anything from the whole weekend Grin good times

sadonfriday · 10/09/2020 14:10

Simply mindblowing

Puppy72 · 10/09/2020 14:20

I'm so glad I was there to experience the Prodigy in the 90s..you watch footage of them live, not one mobile phone is out recording.. People just dancing instead.

Yep! 😂 I'm now a middle aged mum in my 40s - it seems a lifetime ago!

nessnessness · 10/09/2020 14:58

IOW festival 2009 with Pendulum playing before. Amazing!
Then Victorious 2018, one of Keith's last live performances in UK to a large crowd. Even though it was pouring with rain, it was brilliant.

"Invaders must Die" and "Fat of the Land" are my go-to albums when driving a long way on my own!

Ginkypig · 10/09/2020 14:58
@Ginkypig I just wish we could go back to those times.. Modern day music really makes me sad.. I saw a clip on TV yesterday of Little mix doing a talent show for a band or act to support them on a world tour.. Just so contrived..give me music that makes me want to go crazy around the house any day 😂
There's are a few small bands I like that would be considered modern day but I'v not much interest in almost any of the recent popular music. Having said that I was never normally a top 40 kind of girl.
I won't say it's all crap because we all have different tastes but about 99% of it makes me want to burst my eardrums!

Liliac are a great small band producing everything themselves (garage converted to their studio) and are at the point of self production of albums they are great especially considering they are all still so young (family band, all siblings) and my feelings are they may very soon "make it"

Also I'm not sure if any of you are fans but skunk anansie are back and active and killing it! they are regularly touring and making new albums and are absolutely phenomenal live! Her voice is just indescribably strong. They and prodigy were friends and occasionally members of each did small stuff together.

I wish I could remember Milton Keynes bowl.. I was so drunk 😭😭😭

I was made up when I saw these in Tesco's, then devastated that the cashier had no idea what I was on about.

The Prodigy
tearinyourhand · 10/09/2020 18:35

I saw them in 1994. Happy memories.

Our teenage daughter was horrified when we showed her a Glastonbury clip and told her we had seen them (although it wasn't Glastonbury we saw them at). She said 'did you both...jump around and dance? Like those people in the crowd? That's so embarrassing'. Grin

Lonelycrab · 10/09/2020 18:45

Saw them just once, 95 I think. It was at a huge, multi tent rave thing. They only got one song into the set when a (presumably completely munted) person vaulted onto the front of the stage and ran straight upto Liam’s keyboard stand and pushed the whole lot overShock

The sound it made as it hit the deck, through a 50k system was...interesting Grin

About an hour later they got up and running. Was an awesome gig.

MissMarplesHandbag · 10/09/2020 18:52

@tatyr - OMG, they are amazing! 🔥

Pimmsypimms · 10/09/2020 19:03

Bloody love the Prodigy!! Saw them at Glasto in 97. We were right at the front left near the speakers, you could feel the bass. They were amazing!!!

BlueThursday · 10/09/2020 19:06

At the age of 11 when I first heard No Good for Me I was a total fan.

I never got the chance to see them but DH has twice the lucky so and so

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 10/09/2020 19:08

I saw them on their Fat of the Land tour. Amazing show. You're quite right that there isn't music and performance like that anymore 😭

SuburbanCrofter · 10/09/2020 19:10

Another one who saw them supporting oasis at Knebworth in 96. I didn't particularly have an opinion of them beforehand, but they totally blew Oasis off the stage. Amazing.

Puppy72 · 10/09/2020 19:19

I miss Keith flint :( loved him and maxim just dancing like lunatics on the stage..
