The Prodigy

Last night after all the chores were done I sat down and watched the Prodigy live set at Glastonbury 2009... They just don't make bands or music like this anymore. Pre children I was lucky enough to see them 3 times at V festival and Milton Keynes Bowl. Anyone else a fan? Can't stand the tripe on radio these days.

@MissMarplesHandbag that's a spectacular double whammy

I saw the Prodigy once. In Auckland, NZ which turned out to be Keith's last ever performance.

MissMarplesHandbag · 10/09/2020 12:08

@Puppy72 oh it was. Bloody brilliant. At the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool too, which has a springy floor. Even better!

Actually, it was the other way round. Chems supporting The Prodigy.

Puppy72 · 10/09/2020 12:13

@MissMarplesHandbag I probably would be carried out on a stretcher after a gig like that.. 😂

😂

Saw them at Reading in 99. Bit scary but pretty good. Not my favourite 90s band but not the worst either.

Magicbabywaves · 10/09/2020 12:18

Amazing live. Saw them at Reading 2004. Was such a good gig.

Ginkypig · 10/09/2020 12:19

That's so odd I was listening on iplayer just a couple of days ago and was enjoying it so much but feeling so sad at the same time.

I saw them at gig on the green about 20 years ago. they easily blew a lot of the other bands there out of the water including huge bands like slipknot. They magnificently closed the show! But it meant my brother, his friend and I literally sprinting across Glasgow desperately trying to reach the station for the last trip home! I definitely would have won gold that night!

Thanks for this thread it's great remembering and hearing others.

Ginkypig · 10/09/2020 12:26

I meant it's odd the timing of this thread.

SisterNight · 10/09/2020 12:26

Also saw them at download 06. It was incredible! They were in a tent though and it was packed. Heatwave too. Boiling. I was off my face and dancing with some half naked randomers. Brilliant Grin

CatBatCat · 10/09/2020 12:47

Seen them many times over the years. I was heartbroken when I found out about about Keith.

Puppy72 · 10/09/2020 13:03

I remember my friends and I missing the last train home from Milton Keynes and getting a black taxi all the way home to London 😂

@Puppy72 my voodoo people!!

SquatBetty · 10/09/2020 13:28

I first saw them at Glastonbury in '95 - the one where Keith was in a huge inflatable ball onstage but sadly I don't recall most of it due to being completely wankered. They were definitely the best live band in the UK at that time.

Puppy72 · 10/09/2020 13:28

@Ginkypig I just wish we could go back to those times.. Modern day music really makes me sad.. I saw a clip on TV yesterday of Little mix doing a talent show for a band or act to support them on a world tour.. Just so contrived..give me music that makes me want to go crazy around the house any day 😂

Puppy72 · 10/09/2020 13:29

@SquatBetty wankered😂😂

I used to serve Keith in the shop I worked in, bless him. We saw one of the last gigs, it was brilliant. Never sweated so hard in my life.

Puppy72 · 10/09/2020 13:33

@hangingover aww I bet he was lovely x

Keith is properly irreplaceable. I think its a nod to a generation that isn't anymore. I with my friends used to be off our tits. Its not quite the same anymore.

SquatBetty · 10/09/2020 13:35

@Puppy72 I was very wankered Grin. Good times!

doodlyfiddly · 10/09/2020 13:36

I went to school with Liam, he was the year above me. He was quite shy but really into his music (of course!). He used to be allowed to hold raves in the small hall next to the dinner hall at lunchtime! His first concerts???

Afternooninthepark · 10/09/2020 13:36

Best ever! If I ever feel lethargic a bit of Firestarter, cranked up to the max always perks me up.

thesunwillout · 10/09/2020 13:39

Saw them in 96, and again about 5 yrs ago.
