Parent dropping off child to school with a human sized doll in the car!

Please don't tell me that this wouldn't worry you?

So on the first day of school my son was feeling quite nervous, so I decided to take him for a walk in the park which is just behind his school before dropping him off at 8:30. I parked near another 4x4 car under the trees, it was the only one there. At first I thought there's someone sitting in the front passenger seat, but as we got closer it turned out to be a human sized doll! My son said that this is so creepy and scary! I laughed it off but still I tought what the hell is this doll in leather crop top and mini skirt is doing in this car at this time?

After I dropped off my son to school and I went back the car has gone.

This morning I decided to go for a walk in the park after the school drop off and guess what? The car was parked again in the same spot. The doll was again sitting in the front seat, and the driver who is a male I would say in his fourties was taking a child in uniform out from the car seat at the back, held his hand and made his way to the school.

Is this normal? I spoke to a friend about it and she said that she watched a programme talking about these sex dolls and how some families are embracing them like family members?!!!

No idea but intrigued to know what MNers think, so following. Watched a Ch4 documentary a few years ago about sex dolls and their owners, though the ones interviewed were mostly single men and didn't take their dolls out. You would think if it is actually a sex doll they would at least leave it at home during the school run.

JaJaDingDong · 04/09/2020 14:16

In some places, where road lanes are designated for cars with more than one person in them, people use these dolls to fool cameras into thinking they have a passenger.

And I've heard of women who are travelling alone using them to make it look as if there is someone in the car with them.

rainwaterflow · 04/09/2020 14:16

Mind your own business, OP.

Kittykat93 · 04/09/2020 14:18

It's all very well and good saying mind your own business op but can you HONESTLY say you wouldn't be concerned for a 4 year old child who's father is doing the school run with a sex doll dressed in a crop top and mini skirt in the front of the car???

Wtf.

minipie · 04/09/2020 14:18

Maybe there to put off any traffic wardens?

Nikori · 04/09/2020 14:19

It might be a joke. We have a life-sized toy skeleton we sometimes play pranks with. I didn’t realize how much it freaked our neighbors out until one asked me about it. Maybe he’s organizing a bachelor party for a friend or something.

GreyishDays · 04/09/2020 14:21

Is it a sex doll though? What’s the mouth like?

worldweary45 · 04/09/2020 14:25

There are a few in my town that do this as we have priority car share lanes that you can only use if you are carrying a passenger

Findahouse21 · 04/09/2020 14:28

How could you see so much detail, including her skirt?

LonginesPrime · 04/09/2020 14:37

Could it be a mannequin?

It doesn't sound particularly unusual but I live in an artsy area and there's always someone (sometimes me..) ferrying weird amdram props, etc, around!

Otherwise, I'd assume it's to get around parking/carpooling restrictions too.

My next guess might be that they've had their car broken into/stolen before and are particularly paranoid.

stovetopespresso · 04/09/2020 14:37

God how weird

Burnthurst187 · 04/09/2020 14:39

Shock
CatSmith · 04/09/2020 14:41

Do you live somewhere where cars with ‘passengers’ get to use bus lanes or something like that?

Kittykat93 · 04/09/2020 14:42

The mouth doesn't need to be open for it to be a sex doll...

WaltzfortheMars · 04/09/2020 14:44

Can people see what anyone, doll or real person, wearing sitting in the car from outside?

BruceAndNosh · 04/09/2020 14:47

How can you see it's wearing a mini skirt? See through doors?

AvoidingRealHumans · 04/09/2020 14:57

Hang around by the car so you can ask him.

BoggledBudgie · 04/09/2020 15:00
Hmm
Bananalanacake · 04/09/2020 15:03

To put off traffic wardens if you're not allowed to park there to make it look like there's someone in the car. Or he works as a tailor,

anuffername · 04/09/2020 15:04

@BruceAndNosh

Well I expect she probably looked through the window.
SpicyEnchiladas · 04/09/2020 15:07

No we don’t have those lanes in my town. Not in the nearby towns either, assuming that they might not be living in the area.

And yes it was easy for me to see what the doll was wearing, as I walked past the car.

I have no idea about the mouth, just like a doll really but very big In size, and to quote the Daily Fail “with very noticeable assets🤨” .

The whole thing is eerily unusual!

Dying Grin

And so serious Grin

WaltzfortheMars · 04/09/2020 15:14

Why do you assume it's creepy? They may have a reason behind it. Since it's where many school parents drop off kids, not many want to be seen as weird by other parents, I'm sure.

LonginesPrime · 04/09/2020 15:25

You'd be surprised!

Heaps of people get a kick out of making others uncomfortable with their 'shocking' behaviour - it may well just be one of those "I'm mad, me!" types.
