Tell me something nice that happened to you this week

Big or small! I'll start.

Today we meant to go for a walk on Dartmoor but by the time we got to where we'd intended to park, it was full. We were all a bit tetchy tbh.

As we drove away, I suddenly spotted a playground. It was gorgeous, with swings set up with views over the moorland to the sea. So random, in the midst of a really rural area. DC had a ball and it probably saved our marriage

Anyone else want to add?

My children have been amazing, well behaved, happy, affectionate with me and very very funny. We've laughed and played all week. A lovely end to a loooong few months before they're back to school

jessstan2 · 29/08/2020 22:11

I took responsibility for my own health and feel somewhat better already.

ButterflyRuns · 29/08/2020 22:12

A friend I haven't spoken to in a number of years (we drifted apart naturally, no big fall out) reached out to me on Facebook. We met up for coffee and it was really nice to catch up with her, and to see that we're both in similar places in our lives right now.

Serendipper · 29/08/2020 22:13

My husband didn’t get made redundant this week, his line manager took a voluntary redundancy so my DH applied for and got the promotion so is now out of the redundancy pool!

crosser62 · 29/08/2020 22:15

I got myself a new job.
This means I can abandon the hell hole ive been in job wise for the last 8 months.
Such a relief.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 29/08/2020 22:15

Seren that is good news! Yes my husband also got invited back to work from furlough when we thought he might not.

Jess what did you do?

I pulled all the furniture out in my bedroom and cleaned behind it all. Wardrobe and all. The most thorough level of cleaning.

So not something that happened to me rather something I did. But my goodness am I excited about it.

@Serendipper that’s fantastic news!

BayLeaves · 29/08/2020 22:17

I was ill with a bad cold/cough but tested negative for Covid, spent the first half of the week half in bed and half trying to look after my two kids... the 'nice thing' was getting better again and no longer feeling like my throat and chest are under attack Smile

funnyoldonion · 29/08/2020 22:19

I got a kitten called Sniffy, and he's an utter deam boat

Serendipper · 29/08/2020 22:19

@JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff & @Babs709

Thanks we are pleased especially since our 2nd baby is due next month!

Babs709 · 29/08/2020 22:24

@funnyoldonion we need photos!

Congrats @Serendipper, that makes it all the more wonderful

TheCanyon · 29/08/2020 22:26

We got a new power shower fitted today. The old one was ancient and shit.
Meant rewiring through 3 rooms, new fuse box and moving pipes making a rather large hole in the dc bedroom, which means they are now on the sofabed. Messy as feck but by God that showers beautiful.

AllTheCakes · 29/08/2020 22:27

My little DS climbed on top of me this morning and gave me the sweetest hug, looked me in the eyes and said “Mama”. I could have melted.

LadyLovelyLockz · 29/08/2020 22:30

OP, if the village name begins with a W, I used to live just down the road opposite the playground, and it is indeed an excellent playground with fantastic views from the swings!!

badlydrawnbear · 29/08/2020 22:32

I went to the beach and it wasn't raining.
My DC were staying with their grandparents and DH went to stay with some friends, so one night I was on my own for the first time in nearly 6 months. I didn't get home from work until after 9pm, but I appreciated that bit of time before I went to bed.
Someone made me a lovely gift.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 29/08/2020 22:34

Lady yes sounds like the one! It does indeed start with a W.

Seren good news!

I went into town today and found a book I'd been after for ages in a charity shop.

bengalcat · 29/08/2020 22:42

I went to the vet to collect biscuits for my hound today and met a chap with the cutest brindle 12 week old miniature dachshund and now the gym has reopened went to a great Yoga Pilates fusion class where the only male participant had a fabulous physique - class was good too !

fairydustandpixies · 29/08/2020 22:43

The birthday I expected to spend alone yesterday started off with the best present ever - DS1 had travelled to see me as a surprise! The next surprise is that he's staying all weekend! I'd not seen him since January. I'm so very happy!

Thorilicious · 29/08/2020 22:44

I got a job! First one since having ds 4 years ago.

Toddlerteaplease · 29/08/2020 22:44

My friend wanted to buy a bike, I found him one on eBay and went to collect it for him. And then delivered it to him. About 300 miles Driving, but I had two lovely days out and my friend was really pleased with his bike. I feel all warm and fuzzy.

blueshoes · 29/08/2020 22:48

I am still testing positive for covid antibodies 4.5 months after infection. Woohoo!

coronafiona · 29/08/2020 23:05

I was able to give my son some 1 on 1 time as his sisters were both out. Really appreciated it. Was also not invited to a wedding from someone I thought was a good friend. Not even a team's link. Sad

FluffyPJs · 29/08/2020 23:24

My teenage son let me hug him for at least 10 seconds Smile I had been away for a few days and he even sent me a text saying he was missing me. Made my summer!

MatLeave · 29/08/2020 23:29

Had a lovely long lunch and catch-up (gossip) with some good friends and now home with my partner having some Prosecco while my daughter is staying with my parents. Looking forward to a well deserved lie in.
