Tell me something nice that happened to you this week

Big or small! I'll start.

Today we meant to go for a walk on Dartmoor but by the time we got to where we'd intended to park, it was full. We were all a bit tetchy tbh.

As we drove away, I suddenly spotted a playground. It was gorgeous, with swings set up with views over the moorland to the sea. So random, in the midst of a really rural area. DC had a ball and it probably saved our marriage

Anyone else want to add?

Random playgrounds have saved the day (and my sanity) more than once! I got in the car and drove 5 miles to one in a village near us in the rain today because I couldn’t face us all being cooped up together any longer, and the hour there getting damp completely changed the day for us.

I got a handwritten thankyou card from a patients family today (nurse)
It made my day and made me feel like I must be getting it right some of the time. It was nice to feel appreciated for once.

More than a week ago but dd got her GCSE grades Smile and is very excited starting at her new Sixth Form doing her chosen subjects.

I went Paddleboarding for the first time today. It was as blissful as I'd imagined it would be. The sun even shone for the hour I was on the water!

On holiday last week, we taught the dc how to play poker using match sticks and scrabble tiles as chips

Back at home this week, and tonight they were super excited for another tournament. We dug out proper chips, ordered pizza and have had a great night.

That playpark sound lovely, I live on the edge of the moors and wondering if the place beginning with W is the place I can think of that might have a rugglestone, I could do with a good view when pushing the kids.

Nothing particularly special has happened to me this week, but dd1 seems to have nailed potty training at day and night which is brilliant, and dd2 is making progress with words which she has been a bit slower with.

Dp has planned something for my birthday on Monday and thus far neither of the dc have given it away.

Nearly 5 years after moving into our house, we finally got the hall, stairs and landing redecorated last week. It looks a million times better and I feel all happy every time I go up or down the stairs.

TallRedCandlestick · 30/08/2020 12:02

I lost 3lb. Now only 12lb to go until goal.

I had an adventurous holiday in the Azores with my beautiful boy. We were fortunate to stay in a hotel based in a botanical garden with access to geothermal pools. Lockdown was very difficult and so it was wonderful to be in such a beautiful place with him, relaxed, well-behaved and happy. It was a bonus that we didn’t need to stress about quarantine on our return.

My husband has just agreed to drive me a 400 mile round trip to buy an expensive guitar. I haven't actually saved up the whole amount yet but I can lend myself the rest from another account. The excitement is high!

TallRedCandlestick · 30/08/2020 14:16

Jealous! What are you getting?

AppleKatie · 30/08/2020 14:25

Yes my husband also got invited back to work from furlough when we thought he might not.

Snap!

I start a new job in a week, which gets me away from my increasingly toxic boss. The best part is they don't know yet.

My DD thanked me for cooking her dinner yesterday and we had a lovely hug.

I'm organising a weekend to visit family soon - I haven't seen them since last year.

I really needed this post today - thank you, OP!

FluffyPJs · 30/08/2020 21:31

@SomethingNastyInTheBallPool we got new carpets this summer and the whole of the upstairs feels like a new house! It's a lovely feeling

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 31/08/2020 12:57

@FluffyPJs Congratulations! It makes such a difference, doesn’t it? We’re getting our hated kitchen cabinets and tiles painted this week and I’m looking forward to kitchen happiness, too.
