We’ve used both and tend to prefer Hello fresh. There is a discount here for £20 off a box if you wanted to try it cheap.

I know others prefer Gusto but we found HF better value for money and the recipes suited the types of food we would eat more.

passthegin1234 · 28/08/2020 14:58

I think they're great if you can get a discount. I think gusto have more complicated recipes which tend to be a bit nicer. Hello fresh are more straight forward to follow and less faffy. Depends on your financial situation but full price I don't think they're cheaper/equivalent to a supermarket shop.

BunnyLovesBananas · 28/08/2020 14:58

Gusto was better recipes and higher quality meals, plus more choice

Hello Fresh was cheaper

beguilingeyes · 28/08/2020 15:03

Gousto for me. I tried Hello Fresh and found there was nowhere near the same amount of choice and variety.

We've been Gousto regulars for a couple of years now. It's changed my life. None of that awful hanging around supermarkets midweek trying to think of things to cook. The food is delicious and the portions are huge. I freeze the leftovers and take them to work for lunch.

ScarMatty · 28/08/2020 15:04

Gousto is nice if you have more time as the recipes are yummy but slightly more complicated. Also, the food doesn't come pre-bagged into the correct dish so you spend 10 minutes each mealtime hunting for the right ingredients

Hellofresh does lovely meals, but not as complicated, more family friendly and the meals come pre-bagged so you just grabbed the correct bag and you've got all your ingredients

Lardlizard · 28/08/2020 15:07

I think I’ll give both a try then
Perhaps hello fresh first and then gusto

Thanks for the code/link but I think the 50perbcet works better as I think boxes for 4, for 4
Days are like 57 pounds

Gousto here - the fiddly ingredients are now paper bagged together @ScarMatty so that is not such a problem.
Lots of choice and keeps the kids interested as we let them choose.

tectonicplates · 28/08/2020 15:10

I've never used either, but I've read a lot of comments and reviews suggesting that Hello Fresh can be very difficult to unsubscribe from, so you might be caught in a subscription situation if you're not careful. I've never used them myself but just wanted to mention that.

katy1213 · 28/08/2020 15:16

I've tried with a discount and made sure I cancelled straight away. Even with the discount, it's a rather expensive way to eat. I quite enjoyed unwrapping all the bits and pieces and the portions were decent. But the recipes are very basic; nothing you couldn't throw together out of your head. Definitely aimed at people who either can't cook or are not prepared to give it much time/effort.

QueenPaws · 28/08/2020 15:17

I'm using Gousto and have had some tasty meals. Works out ok for me as I'm on my own so I eat a portion and fridge/freeze the other so feeds me for a week plus a freezer portion! I have a week off every so often to clear the freezer Grin

mumtobabygilrl · 28/08/2020 15:18

We have tried both I signed up to HF and after a month DH to gusto. We will move forward with Gusto. 3/4 HF boxes had missing ingredients which was really inconvenient. Also each week there are 10 choices on HF and many you have to pay additional supplements for. Gusto has 50 choices per week and very few that require an extra cost. Also prefer the gusto recipe cards and the free ring binder you can order to keep them all together

kleew1 · 28/08/2020 15:18

I much prefer Gousto less stodge and more flavoursome imo

Sunshineandsparkle · 28/08/2020 15:21

We love Gousto. We get it every week! Good value and lots of variety.

Springersrock · 28/08/2020 15:27

We’ve had Hello Fresh for a while

I really like it. Not having to think about what to cook, forgetting to get something out the freezer, etc.

When the delivery comes, everything for 1 meal goes in a Tupperware box in the fridge. I just have to grab a box when I get home from work

I find the portions really generous so quite often have enough left for lunch the next day

We don’t get home much before 7:30 during the week so I love just being able to grab a box out the fridge and be ready to eat in 30 odd minutes

Champagneforeveryone · 28/08/2020 15:39

Love Gousto and used it on and off for a few years now. There's 3 of us so I order for 2, the portions are reasonably generous (though we're not massive eaters) and if necessary I pad out with extra bread / salad / veg etc.

Currently on a break as we have accumulated a number of really good recipes which we all enjoy. We go through a spell of making them again (use the cards and order exact ingredients for delivery / click and collect) which is obviously cheaper. Then we start up again for a few weeks.

We also tried HelloFresh but weren't as fussed on it. I'm a reasonably good cook but found the cards quite difficult to follow at times, and we sometimes struggled to pick 4 new recipes we all fancied.

riotlady · 28/08/2020 15:39

I really like gousto but it’s expensive imo, I would only ever get it when there’s an offer on.

StoneColdBitch · 28/08/2020 19:51

We tried HelloFresh recently and thought it was overpriced rubbish. The food is much more expensive than it would be if you bought the ingredients yourself, even factoring in food waste. The recipes are no easier to follow than my usual recipes. You have to grate/chop the ingredients yourself, so it's not like you're paying for convenience. And the finished meals weren't all that nice. HelloFresh didn't suit my family at all, but we are confident cooks.

CormoranStrike · 28/08/2020 19:54

I really liked hello fresh for about six weeks but it got a bit samey after a while.

Easy to stop though when required.

RoadworksAgain · 28/08/2020 19:59

We have Gousto every 2 weeks.

Ingredients are bagged up together for each recipe, the food is tasty, healthy, we like a lot of the 10 minute recipes, perfect for when you've finished work late and want good food that's no faff to prepare and cook.

How do I get them to bag up my ingredients 🤔
LittleBlueFish · 28/08/2020 21:02

We love gousto and get a box every week. Here’s a discount code if anyone wants to give it a go

trilbydoll · 28/08/2020 21:06

We tried HF and the food was revolting. We get a Gousto box every so often and we use the recipes pretty much every week, really like them.

modgepodge · 28/08/2020 21:10

Love gousto, have also used HF but prefer the choice on gousto. It’s not cheap, but it’s convenient and the food is good. We have a few recipes we now make regularly picked up from here, others (often Japanese/Thai) have more ingredients we don’t keep in stock (kafir like leaves, fish sauce, edamame beans, nigella seeds spring to mind) so unless we Go out of our way to buy those ingredients we tend to only get those as gousto boxes and not remake. We cancel every so often and then often get a discount code again!

Lardlizard · 31/08/2020 22:06

Hello fresh seems so leery, have to give them your credit card details before you can see the boxes
Then you cancel as there’s nothing you fancy
And it says you can’t cancel and it’s selected the 4 most common/popular choices

So look like we’ve got our first box next week now
We’ve already cancelled so that wil the the first and the last unless we thjng it’s Great. It not impressed at all so far

Gusto on the other hand looks way better
🙈🙈🙈
