@Lardlizard

Hello fresh seems so leery, have to give them your credit card details before you can see the boxes Then you cancel as there’s nothing you fancy And it says you can’t cancel and it’s selected the 4 most common/popular choices

So look like we’ve got our first box next week now
We’ve already cancelled so that wil the the first and the last unless we thjng it’s Great. It not impressed at all so far

Gusto on the other hand looks way better
🙈🙈🙈

You definitely don't have to enter card details before seeing anything, no idea how you ended up with that!

I'm not logged into it on my phone and can easily see all the recipes/boxes etc for the next few weeks

@Lardlizard @ScarMatty that happened to us with Hello Fresh too so we went with Gusto. Our first delivery arrived yesterday so we had the Posh Fish Finger Sandwich last night which was so good! I've already picked our next set of meals out and am itching for the following menu to be available! I've got a 50% off link too if anyone would like it https://cook.gousto.co.uk/raf?promocode=PAULI41963197&utmm_source=iosapp

We use hello fresh every other week when DP has to cook. They're great - good fresh items, lovely vegetarian recipes and works out cheaper than what we were spending before.

We get four meals for four people for £54. As there's only 2 of us it means we get dinner and lunch 4 days and then a leftovers meal on the Friday. So we spend about £70 a week on food on those weeks vs £100 on other weeks.

Well packaged.

Gousto has better recipes.

Love Hello Fresh.

I have used Gousto quite a lot in the past. The issues I have with them is that there is a lot of plastic waste from all the little bags, and the fish in particular is farmed in Vietnam and Turkey. I object to the air miles involved and wonder what the standards are for farmed fish. Most of the meals are very high in fat/calories and they love to use clotted cream and soft cheese in a lot of recipes.
Other than that the food is very nice, easy to make and gets you out of a rut. I have only ordered when there is an offer on. It’s very expensive otherwise.
I think they need to source ingredients locally and do away with the plastic sachets.

I used to get hello fresh but like others say there's not a lot of choice.

Just recently decided to get a meal delivery kit again. Looked at hello fresh, didn't like the meals so went with gousto. Lo and behold I get a text from hello fresh on Saturday saying my box is out for delivery! I didn't bloody choose any meals! So we had a lot of meals to.make this week Hmm I've complained to hello fresh but they don't care. Don't log onto your account with them unless you intend to get your meals from them!

I’ve been using Hello Fresh for a couple of weeks now. £59 for three people for five meals works out at £3.93 per head so I don’t understand why people think it’s expensive. I’d spend way more than that if I was shopping for the ingredients in the supermarket. So far we are enjoying it but it may get a bit repetitive as the weeks go by... it has been brilliant not having to think about what to make each night and also having something different every day is great. My teenager is right into the recipe cards and wants to cook every night which is brilliant, he is learning how to cook with different ingredients and we are spending time together in the kitchen. What’s not to like?!

CorianderLord · 17/09/2020 16:23

Yes I'm not sure why you got charged first too. There's a whole section showing the menu items.

It's a subscription so you do have to cancel before the cut off date or you will be charged and have one sent.

If you get the app then each week you can choose the meals for the next week - remove the common ones by hitting - and add ones you want using +

Super easy

Big Gousto fans here. Converted DH into the cook in the house. Quality is great and we find we're often completely full with no temptation to eat anything else in the evening.

Tried two others - HF and Simply Cook (?). HF didn't give enough choice and Simply Cook was too spicy for me. Because the flavourings are in little tubs, you have no idea how hot/spicy it is. Also, you can't easily replicate the recipe as you can with Gousto.

Twistcurl · 17/09/2020 18:06

I much prefer simply cook- which is a similar idea but just the recipes and the spices, you add all the fresh ingredients yourself. We found it much more flexible, and cheaper, so suited us better. You can try a box for free with my referral code if you want to give it a try: simplycook.com/invite/EWR3R5?via=app
