What's everyone up to on this windy Saturday?

I'm just finishing my cuppa then going to sort some washing and get dd1 up. She asked me to get her up around 10:30 Shock.

I'm going to steadily paint some more of my kitchen cupboards today. Dd2 wants to watch Dumbo so I'll set her up with popcorn & fizzy pop to watch it.

We might go for a wander down the river later on.

What about you lot? :)

Wind? What wind?

I’m off into town to buy some clothes for my holiday which has been switched from Tenerife to Eastbourne, so I suspect my collection of bikinis and kaftans won’t be suitable Grin

SentientAndCognisant · 22/08/2020 10:32

I’ve been up since 7 everyone was asleep, sheer bliss
Coffee,breakfast watching tv
Will go out for some groceries, and go to the park
Later on make food for next week lunches to freeze

happypotamus · 22/08/2020 10:34

We are on holiday in Wales. It is much less windy here than yesterday. We are pottering round the house this morning, playing with relatives' dogs. We are going to a national trust place in a bit.

lucysmam · 22/08/2020 10:37

Ah, maybe it's just the ginormous tree at the end of my garden that's making it look and sound VERY WINDY then 🤷‍♀️

I haven't set foot outside yet today.

Lazy morning with tea in bed.
Walk the dog.
Swim in sea
Do a bit of work on my books.
Out for supper probably.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 22/08/2020 10:41

Waiting for Ocado delivery that was due between 9 and 10 but the van broke down.

Very windy here, too. Will have to go and round up all the windfall apples that are littering the lawn.

Will probably spend some time pondering colour schemes for the kitchen. We’re getting walls, cupboards and tiles painted but can’t change horrible floor or worktops. Need to find colours that tone with them that I actually like.

EmmaJR1 · 22/08/2020 10:42

It's extremely windy in the SE - we have made banana muffins and a sponge cake for a birthday dinner tonight.

We are going to the shops later and doing a tidy up of all the toys... too many bits spread allllllllllllllllll across the house!

wendz86 · 22/08/2020 10:42

I’ve done a bit of cleaning upstairs . Going to get kids to try on some uniform so I can see what we need . Already got shoes .
Eldest dd has gymnastics so will drop her there this afternoon and me and youngest will go get the school bits we need .

vampirethriller · 22/08/2020 10:48

I've made potato curry and marrow and ginger jam and now we're watching Shaun the Sheep. Allotment after lunch and then out to pick some blackberries.

Pipandmum · 22/08/2020 10:51

I've driven my son to work (his motorbike is in the garage getting fixed), walked the dogs (luckily as it's raining now), been to mini Tesco for milk and eggs and am now having a latte watching trash TV (Selling Sunset) psyching myself up to clean the kitchen.

alliejay81 · 22/08/2020 10:51

Chucking it down here. So a morning of pottering and ironing. This afternoon we're going to watch Infinity War and End Game back to back - I may regret saying yes to this!

Crylittlesister · 22/08/2020 10:52

Charity shop run, click and collect order at Argos, pop to a supermarket for food for weekend, put up a blind, do a bit of weeding and hopefully clean the kitchen.
Getting out of bed would be a great start to all this...

yamadori · 22/08/2020 10:53

I've done two hours' weeding and sold one of my bonsai trees to someone for three times what I paid for it. He offered me a lot more than I thought it was worth, and I wasn't going to argue with him. Smile

Now drinking coffee and discussing the weekend meals with DH who is going food shopping later on.

I might pop out and buy a new breadbin this afternoon.

lucysmam · 22/08/2020 11:32

@SomethingNastyInTheBallPool my kitchen floor's awful too, I've gone with ignoring it for the moment!

Unpacking from a camping trip which was wet, windy & muddy. On load 3 of washing, probably another 5 to go Shock

embolass · 22/08/2020 11:44

Washing out, dog out, bit of ironing to do, bit of baking, glass of vino this evening and chill.

ImaSababa · 22/08/2020 11:49

Sofa with cat, Kindle, and food. 39 weeks pregnant and feeling it! Oddly nice to have a rainy day to feel all cosy on.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 22/08/2020 12:31

@lucysmam How horrible is it? I bet it’s not as bad as our snot-coloured faux marble, grotty-seamed lino.

CaptainMyCaptain · 22/08/2020 12:33

Either tying up or chopping down my sunflowers depending on the degree of damage.

thedaywewillremeber · 22/08/2020 12:35

Just had lunch now have to get on with some cleaning

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 22/08/2020 12:41

Picked up all the windfall pears and apples. Dropped DDs off at the animal rescue where they work, fed the windfalls to the pigs! Came home and had tea and toast. Back out to collect the fallen acorns, also for the pigs. Having a rest before I go and pick some cooking apples for crumble DDs will make tomorrow. Going to have wine and sit round the fire pit later tonight. I did enjoy the blazing heat and sun of the summer but I love cooler breezy days like this too, get more done!

MitziK · 22/08/2020 12:52

Re-washing up the stuff DP has done because he's crap at it - he's obviously done the things in too-cold water rather than refilling the bowl, as they're all covered in a layer of grease. And cleaning the underside of the brand new saute pan because if I don't, it'll be covered in a thick, black layer of gunk just like the previous one was.

I'm not going to take over because he obviously needs the practice, but I'm not eating from a greasy plate. And he is working stupid hours at the moment whereas I'm still part time for the next week - I can't be arsed with moaning about it when he'd probably have a point about my not doing it in the first place.

And then I'll put the crockery back into the cupboard neatly, rather than randomly piled high with big things barely balancing on top of small things.

He gets paid in a couple of days. Roll on the promised dishwasher replacement.

lucysmam · 22/08/2020 13:45

@SomethingNastyInTheBallPool pic attached. It's horrible.

I've painted two drawer fronts so far. They don't come off to make it a quicker process Confused

I'm quite jealous of the windfalls of apples and pears Envy mind you, no one else here would eat a crumble :(

I'm packing for a wet and windy break in Weymouth instead of a week in sunny Fuengirola. Won't need bikinis or suncream, will need waterproofs and wellies. Really dislike the wind as I have hyperacusis and tinnitus so bit anxious about my 3-hr drive tomorrow - hopefully my passengers will chat away to distract. Trying to leave home clean and tidy for when I return but I know my DH will bumble about as usual! Sun has just come out ☀️☀️☀️

LatteLover12 · 22/08/2020 14:19

We've just got back from the beach with our dog. We're going to have lunch then get on with some DIY in what will be the nursery in about 3 weeks time!
