Roblox has dominated dd life since lock down and tbh its quite creative, gets her to spell and write, play different characters, create outfits etc so I don't mind. But she's obsessed with getting robuck, ie real money.

It's the only thing she's passionate about so I was thinking for her bday of getting her some but in the context of this game.. Has anyone else?
Will it be a nightmare chaining us into buying robuck for ever more.. is it easy to buy them? Any advice?

but they have to make their money by doing stuff on their island so you don't have to spend actual money
There is many games on roblox you earn too. My DD delivers pizzas on her moped to pay the maintenance on her mansion.

Yes and I hate doing it . I have only done it a few times now but they ask all the time . I begrudge paying for things like that but it's a treat now and then

Anyone recommend where you can buy the credits from? I would prefer to get a physical gift card, but I don't use Amazon.

my dd is 9, going into year 5 in September and discovered Roblox earlier this year. It has been a godsend through lockdown as she is normally used to going out every weekend to places that have been shut throughout and it’s her little treat.

She gets £9.99 every Friday to spend on Adopt Me usually as she likes to buy pets and ride potions or items for her house.

Sometimes I will get her a 99p pack or £4.99 pack and a bit of bribery sometimes works which I know is wrong but there you go.

We can afford it. Normally would spend a lot on her at weekends anyway and she really enjoys it. It has also been an easy way to stay in touch with some of her school friends as they can message each other.

Like most things, I’m expecting her to grow out or it/get fed up with it but not anytime soon and we’ve had to reduce the amount of time she spends on it as back to school approaches.

My DD is 8 and she gets 1,600 robux a month and she looks forward to it so much.
She "spends" it on pure tat, but at least it is not pure tat I have to look at lying around the house.

'' my dd delivers pizzas to pay for maintenance on her mansion '' 😂 😂 😂 😂

Love it. Mine has delivered pizzas too... It's too funny it really is.

So sweet.

Florrie, pp pointed out its saving spending on actual things and I had not considered that before. Its very true. We've got enough tat.

We let them use their pocket money on it if they want to. But no extra.

Swelteringmeltering · 18/08/2020 11:30

Always, it's the begging for extra I'm concerned about. But before I relent I will be extremely clear on this.

DS 8 is allowed a set amount of robux and vbucks for his roblox and fortnite.

I actually think its a good way of teaching kids the value of "money" in the context of considering if they really want X enough to risk not having enough left to get Y.

DS understand that if he doesn't have enough vbucks left for the next battle pass then we won't be topping up as an example.

Swelteringmeltering · 18/08/2020 18:49

So, told dd I would get her some. There is some stuff she has to do first. She excitedly showed me where to buy and showed me the amounts.
She would like the £100 one please.
Typical. Dd. Nothing is ever enough for her!!
