Do you have a wine fridge?

Do you like it? Does it work well? Are you glad you got one?

I’m thinking about getting a little wine fridge for the kitchen but DH is dubious...

Yep. Makes me drink more wine as I tey to keep it stocked Hmm

CarolEffingBaskin · 08/08/2020 20:25

No, but we do have 2 fridges. We inherited a huge American one when we moved in, which is in the dining room, but there’s a gap for one in the kitchen too so we kept our old one. It’s handy for extra freezer space, but we also separate food into meals and snacks, so the DC know they can help themselves from one but have to leave anything in the other alone.

I have a spare fridge freezer in the utility and that’s the beer/wine fridge. Also great for water bottles and soft drinks.

bellsbuss · 08/08/2020 21:13

Yes and I love it , it holds 15 bottles and I try to keep it full.

Yes, we have this too.
AdoraBell · 08/08/2020 21:13

We did when lived overseas and we both miss having one. If we had the space we’d get one.

OneMoreLight · 08/08/2020 21:23

Yes, only a small one. We needed a space filler so we got a wine fridge and wine rack built in.

Sheknowsaboutme · 08/08/2020 21:25

@DramaAlpaca I also have a chest freezer. Im always full to the brim but living rurally I cannot just pop to the shops!

travailtotravel · 08/08/2020 21:34

Additional under counter fridge was our choice for 'drinks' - it's also super super useful at xmas for food etc. We do though have Transtherm 300 bottle jobby in the garage for actual wine - keeps everything consistently temperate. Very definitely has shelves which are more mid week than not. Noone goes near the top and bottom without supervision!

imissthesouth · 08/08/2020 21:53

Yes! It was always my dream for my future kitchen lol, I had a new kitchen put in as soon as I moved in. It's great for entertaining as I have space to chill wine etc. My kitchen is quite large but I have a smaller American style fridge freezer which after a weeks shopping is completely rammed. IMO it's essential😉

Vinorosso74 · 08/08/2020 22:00

I am clearly not the target audience for this thread. I burst out laughing as my first response was as if anyone would have the space for one. Apparently I am wrong and lots of you do.
When I am rich and can afford a decent sized house then maybe I would consider one for the odd bottle of fizz or summer rose. It would then likely be used for beers and soft drinks as we're more red wine drinkers.
I will leave now.

AnnaMagnani · 08/08/2020 22:03

Yes, a tiny one for 6 bottles. Filled a small gap in the kitchen layout.

Not big drinkers but nice to have white wine that isn't either super chilled from the fridge or not chilled at all because we forgot that we might want some wine.

Love it.

elp30 · 08/08/2020 22:08

No but I aspire to have one in the near future!

CoffeeRevelLove · 08/08/2020 22:10

Yes, a double, surrounded by wine racks for red. Bloody love it

nettytree · 08/08/2020 22:15

We got a thin one in our kitchen. Holds about 6 bottles. It was there when we moved in. But it's so noisy we switched it off.

Bandol · 09/08/2020 07:57

We have a Liebherr wine fridge in the garage. It can hold around 200 bottles. We’ve got a basic one that only has one temperature zone (12 degrees). We buy wine in bulk and then store it a long time. Wine will go off if it gets too warm - we’re having a heat wave (France) and the garage is around 30 degrees at the moment so no good for long term wine storage.

We also use it to store soft drinks and chocolate!

SummerPoppies · 09/08/2020 08:21

Not a wine fridge, but a beer fridge here. It's a full size fridge which we keep in the garage.
We have a soft drinks fridge which looks like a giant coca cola can.
We don't drink wine.

passthemustard · 09/08/2020 08:36

Yes I have one. It's definitely useful and frees up space in the big fridge. I use it for wine, beer, mixers and soft drinks.

FraughtwithGin · 09/08/2020 08:57

I have a wine cellar, anything that needs to be served at warmer or cooler temperatures is brought into the kitchen and left on a counter or put in the fridge until the required temperature is achieved.
I might consider a wine fridge, if I didn't have the cellar.

Pillypocket666 · 09/08/2020 09:05

Yes i do. Mainly as a space filler though.

Aguarai · 09/08/2020 09:11

No but we have a cheese one Grin DH makes and sells them though, so I don't have free reign to just fill myself full of cheese from it Sad

BalloonSlayer · 09/08/2020 09:21

We used to have one, we got it when we had our kitchen redone. Turned out it only cooled to 12 degrees - that's not very cold !!! It finally stopped working and we replaced it with a bog standard fridge - much better.

The guys at the tip tried to turn DH away when he went to chuck it as they thought it looked 'commercial,' ie from a pub, so that would have been the last straw luckily DH managed to convince them.

It had been really expensive too. It looked nice though. . .

PotteringAlong · 09/08/2020 09:27

Yes! It’s well worth it!

WithIcePlease · 09/08/2020 09:32

I have a separate integrated fridge just for drinks. I chose this over a wine fridge as offers versatility
