The song’s called A Windmill in Old Amsterdam. No idea who sang it!

So pleased you gave A Little Love and Understanding a listen @VictoriousSockPuppet - you’re right, it’s a song that just makes you smile (even though it makes me shed a little tear often as well).

Lily the Pink was another one we used to sing along to. DH informs me Paul McCartney’s brother was in Scaffold.

There's a pub in Buckinghamshire called the Pink and Lily. Apparently they were real people. I think I was told they worked in service together and then set up the pub.

It was pinky and perky the two little pigs who sang that I am sure

Pinky and Perky may well have done a version but I’m sure it wasn’t the original. It was a man. Not Val Doonican I’m sure but I really can’t remember his name.

There is this rather unlikely cover version though.

I’ve just realised it’s not real - but quite funny. 😊
