My friend told me years ago an old lady we both knew of had died, about a year later i saw the old lady in Tesco, i stood in a cross between shocked and shitting myself mode

My Dad once buried what he thought was our cat, we were all mourning his loss and sobbing at his grave when he walked past us smirking.

I'd forgotten the part when David, who was in bed ill at the time, was lying under a shroud like sheet and they were convinced that his corpse had just been left there!

ather it really wasting of the most bewilderingly funny/awful/funny things I’ve ever seen. I watched it on YouTube recently. It’s like it’s choreographed - everyone is in the right place and says the right thing for maximum hilarity.

What amazes me is that it was and is funny despite at heart being about such a sad death and now of course the other David is also dead. Seems somehow poignant and a long time ago.

I may be super paranoid here but my reason for thinking my colleague might have told me maliciously is because she wants to make me unpopular if I start offering condolences about someone who is not dead. It was weird that she told me for starters. She and I are not close and she openly dislikes me. I just thought that it was such a serious subject she wouldn’t joke

Stop offering condolences to people who are just colleagues of this supposedly dead person, much like yourself. How did she know you would do this? Why would you?

I was told someone had died when I was in an old job. I rang their mobile and they answered the phone. Had to make up a reason for phoning them then.

The people who she was offering condolences to are friends of the person who was supposed to have died. It is possible to be a friend and a colleague.

How did this person tell you they'd supposedly died? Was it over a work chat system? I'd be very careful as if she said it over the phone she is just going to deny ever telling you and accuse of you lying, and you have no proof otherwise. I hope for your sake you can prove what she says

@gingerbits how are you? I went through something similarly bizarre at work a couple of years ago. Younger woman was icily polite to me but did her absolute level best to exclude me from anything social in a group setting, even tea in the tea room or coffee nearby. She kissed up. She kicked down. I wasn't really ''down''. I just had nothing that could validate her. I wasn't one of the young employees. I wasn't management. Wasn't married to anybody rich. In fact I was in her eyes a lowly middle-aged single mother and she was also blanking an immigrant and an obese employee in the team so it was clear that she only wasted niceness on people who validated her as being in the ''in'' gang. She was ridiculous. Also, she was lovely to everybody who was ''up''. The most passive aggressive machiavellian wolf in sheep's clothing I have ever come across but she looked and dressed and talked like butter would not melt.... So these people exist. Trust your gut. Tread carefully.

Who is David?

Angie Bowie was in Celebrity Big Brother when David Bowie died. She was told in the Diary Room and came out upset. Another housemate, can’t remember which, but a young one, asked her what was wrong, and she said ‘don’t tell anyone else but David is dead’, and then headed off for a shower. Meanwhile the HM thought she was referring to David Gest, who was in the house, and chaos ensued.

And the chaos could ensue because Angie went to the diary room after telling the woman, the only other person who could have cleared it up (the only other person in the house who angie had told) was in the shower and David g had been unwell and was lying in bed covered up and pretty unresponsive.
Layers of confusion.
For some time the house thought angie had played a cruel joke about David g and they were furious with her ((still in diary room).
