My baby looks like Steve McDonald

My baby boy is 9.5 months old. Up until recently he was pretty bald, but he seems to be getting quite a lot of hair now. However, it all seems to be at the back and centre of his head, so he looks like he has a bit of a receding hairline at his temples, a la Steve McDonald.

My daughter had a lot of hair from birth but when she was about 3 months old, she sported a similar look for a while (it was back to normal by this stage though).

Both of them had the classic rubbed off patch at the back as younger babies, but this Steve phase seems different- I don’t think the hair has fallen out, it just hasn’t grown there yet? I am wondering if it could be something to do with how the head is growing.

Basically I just wondered if anyone else produces babies that go through phases of looking like middle aged men and/or if anyone knows if it has something to do with head growth?

He is already in age 1-2 hats with not much room left so wondering if he’s just had a head growth spurt which has left him looking like he should be down the Rovers.

My daughter looked like a boxer mid round for months as a baby, she is now a beautiful 9 year old. Totally unrecognisable Grin

twilightcafe · 06/08/2020 21:26

My DD looked like Les Dawson when she was a baby. Glad to report that she no longer does Grin

@Zoomintheroom

My friend's baby looked like Michael McIntyre for the first three years of his life!
This would have been my nephew except that he has already had to have a haircut at 9 months old.

These responses are funny though, and there was me thinking ds (13 months) looked funny with his Matthew McConaughey/ chris Martin (2008)long curly hair

My first inherited both my MIL and FIL's receding hairline. It must skip generations because no way would I have married DH if he'd had that. It was cute in a ridiculous way on DD. Luckily DD2 has inherited my thick mop!

TheChosenTwo · 06/08/2020 23:27

Dh used to say that our beautiful firstborn looked like Les Dawson Grin

TheChosenTwo · 06/08/2020 23:28

Oh @twilightcafe - just seen your post Grin
And I’m pleased to report back that my dd no longer resembles him either!

DaphneFanshaw · 06/08/2020 23:31

What a brilliant thread.
I think we need a photo.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 06/08/2020 23:34

DS looked like something out of Cocoon with his cone head (ventouse delivery) Grin

jessstan2 · 06/08/2020 23:47

I wouldn't worry about it as long as he doesn't chew and gurn.

(Steve McD certainly gets around.....)

StillMedusa · 06/08/2020 23:54

I gave birth to Winston Churchill! All she needed was a cigar....

Even as a besotted new mum I could see she was... ugly !

Thankfully she turned into a willowy elegant and beautiful woman (unlike me !)

(Kinda) Neil Kinnock

ThanksMateThanksMate · 07/08/2020 00:04

Except the pic didn't post - sorry!

Solongtoshort · 07/08/2020 00:15

My brother looked like Ken Barlow and my sister looked like Gail Platt or what ever her name is. I used to get told off for calling if them Ken and Gail, l told people these were there names for ages. The photo at the top of my mums stairs is a Ken photo.

God l haven’t thought about this in months as l haven’t been in my mums house in months. I can’t stop laughing l have tears rolling down my face.

I’m just going to send my brother a quick “alright Ken” text he will laugh. My sister is touchy about looking like Gail so l will leave her alone.

@StarShapedWindow the Terry Nutkins reference tipped me over the edge! Hilarious, this has made me piss myself laughing

sruitfalad · 07/08/2020 00:36

Loving this thread- glad I wasn't the only one wondering what I'd given birth to! My DS looked like Chairman Mao for the first 3 months of his life and then warped into Ian Hislop until he came into his own as a one year old! I used to feel jealous looking at all the other pretty babies in playgroups 🙈

Tillygetsit · 07/08/2020 01:32

@Sruitfalad I had a Chairman Mao baby too!

GrumpyHoonMain · 07/08/2020 01:38

My DS looks like the wolf boy. Has more hair on his face than on his head.

WhatWouldYouDoWhatWouldJesusDo · 07/08/2020 02:25

My dd looked like Bernard Manning, complete with dodgy combover. 😐

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 07/08/2020 02:38

DS2 looked like Barry from Eastenders for a while. He’s a handsome teenager now Smile

Poor DD went through an Alex Higgins phase (showing my age!)

DS1 was pretty much always cute, lucky bugger!

ThanksMateThanksMate · 07/08/2020 02:39

@WhatWouldYouDoWhatWouldJesusDo

Omg my friend's baby looked like Bernard Manning and I used to wonder if I could say it!
Wonder if she actually knew it already?!
The lovely baby is now a beautiful, non-BM 15 yr old!

managedmis · 07/08/2020 02:58

Oh my god that link above is amazing! Baby Gordon Ramsey Grin

HeronLanyon · 07/08/2020 03:41

Laughed out loud.
‘The Steve phase’ a new ‘milestone’.

babydisney · 07/08/2020 03:45

I wouldn't worry I had a troubled birth and my parents called me garibaldi until I was nearly 2, hardly any hair. Now at 22 I have waist length thick auburn hair x

hammie46i · 07/08/2020 04:18

Love these comments. So funny.

I cringe when I see my baby photos. I was a very ugly baby.

HeronLanyon · 07/08/2020 04:46

Some babies are indeed astonishingly not good looking - except of course all are beautiful obvs.
