Apple and blackberry crumble, lovely 😁
Also blackberry vodka, put them in a jar, with vodka, leave it a bit, strain it and bottle it... Of course then drink it 😁🍾

Following, as we’ve got loads around here
My mum’s friend suggested blackberry fool, she sieves the blackberries, to get rid of the pips

They need to be soaked to get the bugs out. Put them into a big bowl of salted water that covers them. You can empty and resoak in more salted water.

Leave them in a bowl a water to clean them and get rid of any bugs. Then drain and ...

Crumble
Pie
Gin - see vodka recipe above
Freeze them and put in porridge/on Greek yoghurt all year round
Ice cream (better if you have an ice cream maker)

Jam. Best thing ever with fresh fruit!!

keiratwiceknightly · 04/08/2020 21:41

If you want to freeze them, best to do it on a baking tray with them all separated. Once frozen they can go in freezer pot or bag, but just makes them easier to grab a handful rather than have to defrost a whole load.

Please, please do not make blackberry and apple crumble,it is the work of the devil.
Make blackberry crumble,we have just had that - absolutely fantastic it was too.Or apple crumble, also very nice, but why ruin things by putting them together Smile

jalopy · 04/08/2020 21:55

Make a compote.

Cook the blackberries with a tiny amount of water & some sugar. Mash it all up when cooked.
Lovely with any of the following: yogurt, porridge, ice cream, cheese cake, muesli, etc.

DD and DP like some blitzed up in a smoothie, the colour is amazing! Agree with the above freezing method, I do the same when we've been raspberry picking.
I quite like an apple and blackberry crumble occasionally but it needs to be 2/3 blackberries and 1/3 apple and a few chopped hazelnuts or almonds in the crumble.

marigoldsmarigolds · 04/08/2020 22:04

Muffins, eat them warm - the blackberries turn to jam in the muffins. Yum!

Icequeen01 · 04/08/2020 22:09

Throw them away - food of the devil! (Can you tell I hate blackberries?) 😀

dementedma · 04/08/2020 22:10

victoriasponge678 · 04/08/2020 22:38

I wash them - open freeze in a tray, once frozen out into a freezer bag and perfect for putting in my gin Wink

jessstan2 · 04/08/2020 22:50

I had blackberries this evening with other fruit and cream, they were lovely. Blackberry and apple pie, tart or crumble is gorgeous.

Just wash them and dry them if you want to fast freeze them.

Blackberry and Lemon Upside-down Cake

This gorgeous blackberry upside-down cake recipe is the perfect summer treat. Sweet and tart blackberries sit atop a fluffy lemon flavoured sponge. Serve with a dollop of crème fraîche and a cup of tea.

Ingredients

175g of unsalted butter, softened
175g of caster sugar
3 large eggs, room temperature
115g of self-raising flour, sifted
1/2 tsp baking powder
75g of ground almonds
2 lemons, zested
250g of blackberries
créme fraiche, to serve
Method

Preheat oven to 180ºC and and grease a 20cm springform cake tin
Using a food mixer or electric whisk, beat together the butter and sugar until pale and fluffy. Then one by one, beat in the eggs
Fold in the flour, baking powder, almonds and lemon zest. Mix to combine but don’t over work
Place the blackberries in the bottom of the springform tin and squeeze over half a lemon. Lightly crush the berries then pour over the cake batter and smooth out using a spatula
Bake for 45–50 minutes, until cake is springy to the touch and golden brown
Serve warm from the oven or at room temperature with crème fraîche on the side

Bramble cocktails.

GrumpyHoonMain · 04/08/2020 22:55

Soak them in salted water to get rid of the worms / insects. Might need to do this repeatedly over a couple of days. I would then make blackberry jam - yum

afrikat · 04/08/2020 22:56

I've been making loads of Blackberry cobbler, it's amazing
