Are we in the minority, not having dessert after meals?

Just wondering really, we don't often have any form if dessert at meals. Occasionally I'll make a crumble or something.

We only have dessert when we invite people over otherwise.

We never have dessert apart from Christmas or when we eat out. I'd be too full from dinner to eat anything else.

Sparklyring · 03/08/2020 11:07

We have the odd dessert, maybe every fortnight as part of the m&s dine in for £10 or if we have guests round I always get/make a dessert.

Billyjoearmstrong · 03/08/2020 11:11

We never do unless it’s a special meal - Christmas, family over for a lunch etc.

I know people who have pudding after every evening meal - it seems excessive to me.

tectonicplates · 03/08/2020 11:11

We only really have dessert if we eat out. That's part of the reason why I've lost nearly a stone of weight during the lockdown!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 03/08/2020 11:12

Nope, we don't eat pudding unless someone comes for tea, or I make something nice on a weekend. Crumble does appear if there's some rhubarb in the garden ready to pull though!

Quackersandcheese3 · 03/08/2020 11:12

We don’t really have dessert. Maybe once every couple of weeks .

MrsT1405 · 03/08/2020 11:13

We have fruit, in season, and yogurt. I love strawberries and cherries. Very occasionally we'll have a cooked pudding on a sunday.

becca3210 · 03/08/2020 11:15

We will have chocolate on the sofa post dinner. Greedy probably but when you are going to be up a lot with the baby you need the energy Smile

Rockbird · 03/08/2020 11:17

No, not unless it's Christmas or am at in laws. If there's a random choc ice in the freezer then the kids can have one but that's it.

Morgana7 · 03/08/2020 11:19

We have dessert every night but it’s usually something like a yogurt or little choc mousse pot thing.
We’ll have something a bit more elaborate like a cheesecake/crumble/trifle at the weekend.

LegoMaus · 03/08/2020 11:19

We don’t have pudding on a regular basis. We do often have a chocolate biscuit or fruit on weekdays, or a bit of ice cream at weekends.

VettiyaIruken · 03/08/2020 11:21

No, not just you. I'm a gigantic greedy fatso with zero willpower and so we only have a pudding on special occasions and don't keep a stock of snack or sweet stuff.

KingOfDogShite · 03/08/2020 11:23

I recon I have maybe 10 puddings a year.

Summer41 · 03/08/2020 11:24

After dinner we will have a cup of tea and a slice of cake or an ice cream/ice lolly/chocolate on the sofa while watching TV. We only have a "proper" dessert if we have guests, after a Sunday roast or if it's a special occasion like someone's birthday or Christmas Day.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 03/08/2020 11:24

We always have a pudding at the weekend, usually something like a shop bought cheesecake or churros. We tend to have a fancier evening meal then too, because more time to cook, or sometimes a takeaway.

Sexnotgender · 03/08/2020 11:25

We never have dessert unless we have guests.

lillylemons · 03/08/2020 11:26

We don't have desserts regularly only on special occasions and when we have someone over for dinner.
The kids might have yogurt after dinner if they want one.

Sally872 · 03/08/2020 11:27

Kids normally get a treat after dinner as reward for doing the basic essential of eating dinner Blush but it is usually a choc mousse at best more often a bourbon cream. I will usually have a biscuit/choc or something in the evening.

Visitors/visiting, Christmas or eating out are only times we have proper dessert.

Valleydad99 · 03/08/2020 11:27

No pudding but do have chocolate/biscuits on the sofa watching telly once the kids are in bed. Kids have a yogurt post-tea but that's about it.

Deadringer · 03/08/2020 11:28

On shopping day we might have a cake or ice cream, otherwise no, except maybe a biscuit or bar with our cup of tea.

BrieAndChilli · 03/08/2020 11:29

Kids and DH often have fruit or yogurt for pudding. I occasionally if I fancy one. I’ll make a ‘proper’ dessert maybe once or twice a month on a weekend normally if someone is over for a meal which isn’t often.
Will normally have pudding if eat out but that’s only about once every 6 months!
I’m still fat though!

Bmidreams · 03/08/2020 11:31

No, we'd be huge!

Rhubardandcustard · 03/08/2020 11:31

I’m normally too full after a meal, especially if I’ve had a starter too. To be honest in choice of starter and main or main and dessert I would always pick starter and main, not that bothered about desserts really.

yomellamoHelly · 03/08/2020 11:33

Occasional treat here. More likely to have some chocolate. (x1 or x2 / week)

willitbetonight · 03/08/2020 11:33

Course not op. Those people that have pudding daily will be hugely in the minority. I would be as fat as a house if I had a proper pudding daily. Kids have yogurt or fruit maybe twice a week, usually when they have declared dinner to be gross.
