Are you buying your kids uniform for Sept or waiting?

Just that really. Normally I would replace outgrown stuff about now to avoid the queues (or limited stock if online) in the last week of summer holidays. But this year, I am not so sure.... Seems plausible that school won’t reopen or will shut again quickly or go part time etc. What’s everyone else doing?

I've bought all mine already, I think they will definitely open and they seem set on closing bars and pubs to ensure schools will open. I'm in Wales tho and we seem to be over taking England at the moment with re opening things as our cases are so low for now

KEG05 · 01/08/2020 22:04

I’m in Scotland. Bought half a week and will just manage with that for a few weeks until we see what happens 😊

TokyoSushi · 01/08/2020 22:06

I've bought ours, I've done a restock rather than a full new set. I was pleased to see that last years stuff is still in good condition, but they haven't worn it since March so not sure why I'm surprised!

I bought mine already. Mainly because I'm due to have a csection on 1st September and DD1 is due back 2nd September so I need to have it ironed and labelled up in plenty of time!

divafever99 · 01/08/2020 22:11

I dithered today and nearly bought dh new school shoes, but decided I will hold off for a couple more weeks.

wendz86 · 01/08/2020 22:14

I’ve bought school shoes as Clark’s have said if they grow out or by Feb they will replace and was quiet in shop . Will wait to get the rest .

Duckchick · 01/08/2020 22:17

We are waiting to buy shoes in case he had a growth spurt and will squeeze into last year's for everything else. If schools are still open in November ish I'll do a proper shop.

Legoandloldolls · 01/08/2020 22:24

My daughters state school is adamant they will be fully open in September but said not buy shoes and to get second hand uniform. I got two of each things second hand and I'm.pretty sure she can squeeze into last years things ( but after 6 months maybe I'm delusional).

My middle two are in indi SEN schools with ehcp. They have been almost through out so I did get them new trousers.

I haven't got any new shoes and have spent a lot less than I normally would. I guess I'm concerned that they wont be be fully open or they will close again. Luckily all three schools arent really strict on uniform.

stophuggingme · 01/08/2020 22:29

Yes have bought everything bar school shoes

Waxonwaxoff0 · 01/08/2020 22:33

I've ordered jumpers as they can take a few weeks to arrive, and I've bought polo shirts. I don't buy shoes until the last minute anyway just in case DS has a growth spurt.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 01/08/2020 22:33

Yes but not as much as I usually would and haven't got shoes yet, in part because we've only just had shops open up again here and I want to get her feet measured which I'll do next week.

I figure I can pick it up in Asda at short notice if I need to but I don't want to spend on things we may not need. Luckily the school don't have any fancy uniform requirement just any grey skirt/trouser/joggers/shorts, white or blue shirt/polo and blue cardi/jumper.

starrynight19 · 01/08/2020 22:34

Not got anything and don’t think I will maybe see how things are end of Sept / Oct

BadTattoosAndSmellLikeBooze · 01/08/2020 22:35

I’ve bought everything but still not sure I’ll be sending them.

MinorArcana · 01/08/2020 22:36

I’ve bought some stuff for the older DC - no shoes yet. I figured that I’ll be able to hand it down to the younger DC if school closures mean it’s not needed this year.

slipperywhensparticus · 01/08/2020 22:36

Yes but middle has started a new school and youngest has moved up to ks2 which means shirt and tie not polo shirt so I've had to

elfycat · 01/08/2020 22:44

Mine has to be ordered from a website (Y7 so new school) so I placed the order on Tuesday. I have a younger child going in 2 years time and between them hopefully it will get worn enough. DD2 will need new school skirts but they can be supermarket/M&S.

They'll need shoes, and I guess there will be the usual last-minute rush for what's left at the end of August.

dramalamma · 02/08/2020 09:01

I've got 4 all starting a new school so I've had to buy all new so I'm really hoping they'll be going back or it will be a big waste.... fingers crossed.

purpledagger · 02/08/2020 09:15

I'm buying uniform. The children will have to go back to school at some point and I'd much rather have everything ready than have a mad rush at the last minute.

winterisstillcoming · 02/08/2020 09:33

I'm buying the bare minimum.

IamChipmunk · 02/08/2020 10:56

I've bought everything except shoes and a jacket for dd.
Will get those nearer end of summer and keep fingers crossed it wont be wasted.

I may not label it all as normal or take tags off until the last minute when hopefully there will be a clearer picture of what will happen and how.

TenCornMaidens · 02/08/2020 11:03

Bought the whole sodding lot already and feel like a mug honestly. Better to have it than send them in in non-uniform when everyone else is in uniform, but still.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 02/08/2020 11:06

Everything except shoes and trainers for PE, uniform ordered online but they need to try shoes so will get those in a couple of weeks

lucysmam · 02/08/2020 11:19

I've bought 2 days worth from Asda for each of the girls, instead of logo-ed stuff which both schools prefer but isn't treated as the end of the world if they don't have it, and shoes from Primark yesterday.

Thankfully dd1's blazer still fits and is in good enough condition for the moment.

Once we see what's what, I'll buy more if they need it, and maybe replace the shoes with some better quality ones.

I'm not entirely convinced any of it will be well used tbh.

nettytree · 02/08/2020 11:32

I got my son new trousers and shirts. But I need to go to school outfitters for the logo stuff. That's on my to do list for tomorrow. I got him new shoes 2 weeks before lock down. Hope they still fit.

Perihelion · 02/08/2020 13:25

DD is back on the 12th. I've bought uniform stuff but not taken the labels off yet, until we're told they're definitely back full time and need to be in uniform.
