The thread about booking the nudist campsite made me wonder of you have ever booked the wronh hotel, flight,.theatre tickets, anything really and what happened?

I booked hotel for 12 months time and didnt notice until we had arrived at our destination after a 9 hour flight and 3 hour taxi journey. Our hotel was fully booked. Thankfully it was a chain hotel and we were able to go to anothee hotel nearby and they refunded the original booking. Cost about £200 more at the new hotel tho

We live in the N of England. I booked Belfast - Liverpool ferry tickets that way round. I only realised 2 days before we were due to go. Fortunately had bought a more expensive flexi ticket so I could change it, and there were spaces available.

My colleague one booked flights from Birmingham to Toronto. Birmingham, Alabama, rather than the one in the West Midlands that we meant.

@ArcherDog

We had booked a cruise around the Med.
Queued up for ages to board, get to the front and turns out we were queuing for the Isle of Wight ferry instead!
Frantic dash across the harbour in rush hour to just catch our boat in time.

You have reminded me of when I was at a theme park with my 70 year old sister. We were queuing to go on a gentle ride but got in the wrong queue and ended up on a indoors rollercoaster that was pitch black. I was terrified. My grandma wanted to go on it again!

No, but I was once horrendously late getting my son to a Laser Quest birthday party owing to the fact that Whitstable has both a John Wilson Business Park and a Joseph Wilson Industrial Estate. Five years on, I still maintain that that's bloody loopy . . .

@UncleShady

Flew out of Heathrow so left car etc there... flew back into Gatwick!

I know someone who reported their car as stolen from the motorway services - they'd driven there, parked up and gone the rest of the way to this meeting in their work colleague's car, who had then stopped them back on the way home. The police that came heard this sorry tale of woe, and pointed to the service station on the other side of the motorway and suggested he might have better luck looking for his car in the car park there.

I nearly did that in Durham. First time visiting and we used the park and ride. Looked round Durham, got back on the park and ride bus and went to the car park. No car! Stood there panicking car not where we'd left it and by this point xmas eve it was almost empty. Thankfully before we'd phoned the Police the bus driver asked us if we were at the right park and ride car park. Hadn't realised there was more than one. Turns out we wasn't so he gave a lift to the other one and sat there exactly where we had left it was my car 😅

I reported my bike stolen from my flat once. Got to work the following day and there it was, locked up in usual place. I’d forgotten that I’d left it there after I’d been for a drink or two the previous day.

In my early 20s I drove all my friends to Alton in Derbyshire instead of Alton Staffordshire for a day out at Alton Towers Blush Fortunately they’re less than an hour away from each other.

I had to explain to a very confused tourist at Stansted airport that “London Stansted” isn’t actually in London. I did manage to point him in the right direction of public transport though. Poor sod thought he’d got on the wrong flight.

DH once booked Centerparcs for the wrong week, but luckily we realised his mistake when we went to book activities and they changed it for us.

I'm so glad it's not just me! Managed to somehow book return flights to Cardiff airport, except we'd flown from Bristol and that's where we'd left the car. Fuck knows how I managed that one.

We went to Barcelona for a long weekend and I booked a hotel with a rooftop pool. Arrived in the evening, all a bit knackered, DH took the DC up to the pool for a quick swim while I unpacked. Turned out there wasn't a pool at all, they emerged from the lift in their swimmers and goggles into a very swish rooftop bar full of very cool Spanish people.

I'm terrified of making mistakes like this; it's one reason I'm a reluctant online shopper. I once had a whole lot of wedding stuff sent to my old address - I realised the moment I clicked "place order"; too late!

My dad pointed out an easy mistake that could happen at Brussels Station (when the Eurostar used to go from London Waterloo). Do you want the train going to "London Waterloo", or "Waterloo"? They're not the same!

10 years ago, I went to Cologne for a few days. After booking my flights and hotel, I decided that I would spend a day in Paris (around 3.5 hours by train). So went on the Thalys website and booked my Cologne to Paris train tickets. Leave Cologne at 6.30 am and get a late train back. One slight problem: I somehow managed to book them for the day I arrived in Cologne! Cue an early morning call to the Thalys call centre in Belgium to find out if I could change them and if I'd have to pay for my idiocy!
One good thing came of it. I now triple check dates and times of everything when I'm booking them.

There is a village near Sheffield called Wales. Stories about surprised tourists pop up on our local (Sheffield area) new from time to time. There was one about some lads who had driven from Denmark or somewhere for a football match when Wales were in the UEFA semis about 4 or 5 years ago.

Yes my husband booked one villa but another villa nearby had a similar name, he proceeded to communicate with said villa, we stayed for a week in it, only at the end to be asked for payment. We had paid for the the villa up the road so stayed in the wrong one. It took a lot of sorting out in a different language and I have never trusted him to book a holiday since. I can laugh about it now, just.

I accidentally booked the wrong hotel when we went to Turkey. Realised before we went and almost changed it but it turned out to be the nicest place I think I've ever stayed. Total blessing in disguise.

Went on a last minute ski weekend with my dad when I was at uni. We were due to return on the afternoon of NYE. My stepmum has only let us go on the understanding that we’d be back for dinner as people were coming round.

All planned and executed successfully until we got to Zurich airport to fly home and Dad discovered that he’d booked flights to return to Heathrow....we’d flown out from and left the car at City.

Cue a frantic dash across Greater London, my dad answering calls from my stepmum and making vague excuses about delays and traffic and me feeling increasingly ill with what turned out to be tonsillitis. My stepmum of course figured it out, but luckily I got to go to bed and collapse upon returning home and my dad got the telling off.

I check all bookings religiously now I am the adult in the situation!

We booked a trip to Paris, turned up to the Eurostar terminal and realised the whole thing had been booked for June, and we were in July so we'd effectively missed our holiday.

The most amazing French man at the desk managed to book us onto the Eurostar with no extra charge, even with the upgrade that we had on the original ticket so we only had to rebook the hotel and pay for that again.

I was pregnant and it was my 30th birthday treat. Certainly memorable.
